My readers know that the works I create are based on the people I meet, the experiences I’ve enjoyed and the places I’ve traveled. Therein lies the essence of the Traveling Author, for that’s what I am. Where some sit and write book after book, my lifestyle is one where I take a break, traveling to rejuvenate my mind, body and soul, absorbing all that I’ve encountered, then I return to my home and produce a novel.
Travel with me as I search for inspiration. You can virtually tag along, or show up with a book in hand. My itineraries are posted on my website under Destinations.
Set in San Francisco, Gerdes’s latest thriller vividly explores the devastating effects of technology.
A leading pharmaceutical company comes under fire after several people die because of tainted drugs. When Austin Marks, the head of Mark Communications, steps in for damage control and focuses her attention to a software firm as being responsible for the mistake, she finds herself entangled in a conspiracy of global proportions. With the blame shifting on the software firm, the stakes rise, and Austin’s personal life comes under scrutiny as an investigative journalist sets on to unravel her past.
Gerdes is masterfully skilled at building up anticipation and tension. She handles Austin’s interactions with her clients and a love interest with an assured authority to equate her public relation expertize.
The traumatic incidents in Austin’s past are revealed gradually, and her character is ripe with all the vulnerability of a flesh-and-blood human being despite her practical, spunky persona.
High on anticipation, tension, and suspense, this novel deserves readers’ attention.
The book is different and very compelling, an awesome combination of suspense, drama, crime, and romance. Lies was a great story with lots of surprises. I love stories with lots of suspense and you get that in this book!
All of the characters are wonderfully developed and it's very easy to really like more than just the two main characters. The narration and language used are fine-tuned for the readers to grasp the entire plot. Every page is full of thrills and excitement. I had a hard time putting this book down because I just had to know how it ended and it kept me intrigued throughout the end for sure. I always find it hard to review a book without spoilers but I want to write something that people can read without revealing too much about the book itself. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Austin Marks (MC) was a highlight for me during this roller coaster book. Shes the type of character that i enjoy reading about and with every glimpse into her past you could see just how deeply detailed she is as a character which is what Sarah does well - excellent descriptions of the settings with rich multifaceted characters. i didn't expect this to be as suspenseful as it turned out to be in the end but that just meant i couldn't put it down. this is a very action packed, quick moving, suspenseful book that i wouldn't recommend starting at night because you aren't gonna sleep because you're gonna be hanging off of every word like i was!
Global Deadline is an intriguing, engrossing story, and very well written. The characters are fleshed out and easy to relate to. One of the main characters changes through the story and becomes likable. The other was likable from the beginning. I did have some problems keeping the supporting characters straight in my mind, but I think that may be more me than the story. I found the ending to be very satisfying and would read more of Sarah Gerdes books. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.
