My Mother’s Apprentice, sequel to Stuck in the Onesies, tells the daughters’ story. Ginger chases her dream of becoming a singer/songwriter to Jamaica. Her career takes off in the 1970s reggae revolution. Karen travels to Jamaica to write her novel, and uncovers Ginger’s double life. She tries to help, but finds addiction may have a stronger hold than friendship. My Mother’s Apprentice spans three decades, a story of friendship, addiction, and learning to navigate the consequences of one’s choices.
Diana wrote “Stuck in the Onesies” over a ten-year period while working full time for Ecolab, Inc. Diana retired to pursue writing full time. My Mother's Apprentice, the sequel to Stuck in the Onesies, was published in February, 2019. My Mother's Apprentice was awarded the bronze medal for fiction by the Florida Authors and Publishers Association in August, 2019.
Diana's latest work, "Ginger Star" is a departure from her previous work in that it is historical fiction. "Ginger Star" is based in Jamaica during the Golden Age of Piracy. The new "revised edition" of "Pirates and Plantations in Jamaica, the story of Ginger Star," was released in June, 2024.
Books clubs are finding all three novels to be a great fit given the social issues dealt with in the stories. Diana is happy to attend book club meetings in person or via Zoom, schedule permitting.

“My Mother’s Apprentice” is a worthy sequel to “Stuck in the Onesies”. The characters change from Barb and Ellie to their daughters Karen and Ginger. The geographical setting expands from the Washington, DC and Eastern Shore to include Jamaica in the Caribbean. Having visited the island, I can attest to accuracy of its vivid portrayal. While the main characters remain friends throughout their life, their story is filled with emotional ups and downs that strain their relationship. It is told in smooth, exciting, and well-written prose. I highly recommend the novel. I look forward to the last novel in the series.
Such an excellent read! Loved reading about their friendship through the years! I felt like they were part of my family. I laughed and cried. The characters stayed with me for a long time I finished reading the book. Make sure you read this! You won’t be able to put it down!
Absolutely loved this book as much as I did her first one, Stuck In the Onesies! Please take the time to read both these novels!! On to book three, Ginger Starr..📕📕
