Wild one

Wow this installment was a wild one. Not many suspects makes it hard and frustrating for Jenny. Plus the fact that her wedding is just days away. Music, the first mayor's race in decades, and of course a festival full this delightful read to the brim with intrigue and entertaining action. Seriously cannot wait for the next book.

Hard to believe this is already the eighth book in the Pelican Cove Mystery Series. This is the book when Jenny and Adam are to get married. It is also right before the famous Pelican Cove Fall Festival that past years was saved in a great part by Jenny's generosity and hard work. This year a special concert is planned that will be given by an A-list musical performer. Big plans for the small town that have already attracted scads of tourists. Jenny experiments with making truffles to sell at the Fall Festival, and everyone who taste them want more. One businessman wants to market them nationally. With all the wonderful preparations going on, it is obvious the Fall Festival will be a huge success.

Meanwhile the 80+ year old mayor of Pelican Cove has announced that he will not run for reelection, throwing a couple of would-be mayors into a tizzy and a campaign frenzy. Meanwhile a troubadour has applied to sing for 6 months in Pelican Cove in accordance with their contract. Only he isn't so popular with one man (who happens to be a mayoral candidate as well.) Claiming that he disrupted his rest at home harsh words were exchanged. Next another troubadour comes to town and won't honor the one troubadour per town/under contract rule. What happens next pits Adam and Jenny once again, on opposite sides of a problem.

This is perhaps one of the best books in the series! Just when you think it HAD to happen one way, things change and it's a whole new situation. What really did happen in this small friendly town? Who has the real facts? Will Adam accept Jenny's help or will he be stubborn as usual? You are going to have to read the book to find out! I will say this much for sure, there is no way you can figure out all the details in this complex story with characters we have grown to know and appreciate their good qualities! Don't miss the latest exciting Pelican Cove Mystery!

Truffles and Troubadours: Book 8

Binge reading this series over the last few days has been so much fun. Cozy Mysteries is my favorite genre. I love when I find a new author (to me) that I can enjoy reading story after story. This is definitely the case with the Pelican Cove Cozy Mystery Series by Leena Clover. The characters are wonderful and the setting on the fictional island of Pelican Cove is fantastic.

Jenny and the Magnolias are busy planning Jenny’s upcoming wedding. There is so much to do and only a few weeks to get it together. The “normal” daily responsibilities of Jenny and her posse keep them busy from daylight to dusk. Where will they find the time to plan a wedding in such short order? Then, one thing after another happens to claim hold to even more of their time as they support each other and their circle of family and friends. Jenny’s café business is blowing up (in a good way). Jason needs, and receives, their support as he navigates through his new and often overwhelming responsibilities. Everyone is pulled into the first mayoral campaign in 50 years. The Fall Festival is demanding their time. To top it off – a murder, or two, to investigate. Will there be enough hours in the day, or will it finally be too much for Jenny and the Magnolias to handle?

This was a fun and easy read. A clean stand-alone. My personal preference is to read in order as to not be surprised by spoilers.

Getting stood up is never good but on your wedding day.......

A good read. It was fairly obvious that Adam had doubts throughout the story but surprised that he didn't have the guts to tell her. This more or less overshadowed the main plot of two young man killed by rage and jealousy. However what happened to the young girl who is pregnant?
The town mayor is retiring after 50 years and now election fever steps in. One candidate wants to increase tourism substantially whilst another wants to curtail it. Plus there's been a death in town. A young man - a troubadour. She can't help getting involved especially as his grandfather begs for her to find the killer. Then there's Adam telling her to keep out of his investigation as he knows who the killer is. Even though she points out that she has doubts. Another troubadour, another murder, a pop sensation and the wedding. Will the case be cleared before the wedding? Why is Adam being so hostile?

There is a lot going on in Pelican Cove. Plans are going on for the fall festial, a mayor election, trouble between two troubadours and planning Jenny's wedding to Adam.
A big name star is going to sing at the festival. Tickets have sold out in a very short time. With all the tourists in town Jenny has to have friends help out at the cafe. A troubadour gets killed. Adam is busy with the case. Jenny gets involved and Adam doesn't like it as usual. A man gets arrested and Jenny is sure he's not the killer. She sets out to prove it. This is a great plot. Well thought out and well written. Leena never fails to amaze me.
The ending surprised me! I keep thinking about it.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.

I haven't mentioned this before but I love how the book titles use alliteration. A troubadour Tyler comes to Pelican Cove. Then another one, Ocean, comes. The troubadour code says only 1 troubadour to a town. The two get into a fight and later one is found dead and the other one has been charged with murder. Jason has asked to represent Ocean and asks Jenny for assistance. Her investigation leads to finding our about Tyler's life and family. At the same time the town is hosting a huge fall celebration and have asked a visiting country star to perform. But the country star brings drama along with his songs.
Jenny and Adam have finally set a date; the dress has been bought, the flowers arranged, the food prepared, people have arrived for the big day and then..........

Book 8 in this delightful cozy mystery series set in Pelican Cove.

Pelican Cove has welcomed Troubadours for many years, but none have been to the island for some years, until now; and now there are 2 of them?

When 1 of them turns up murdered, Jenny puts her wedding planning on hold and tries to find out who did it, to help the Troubadours family. With running the cafe and planning her wedding, she spreads herself thin.

Elsewhere, there is also an election campaign for Mayor to be conducted, with Barb throwing her hat into the ring early on, when someone goes up against her, fireworks fly! On top of all this, there's also the festival to organise, Barb would ordinarily head this up, who will take the role this time?

I can't stop reading these, easily read in a couple of hours I am binge reading these. I can't wait to start the next book! As the same characters are in each book, and to preserve continuity the books are best read in order.

I got this book from the author and this is my very honest review.
What has gotten into the people of Pelican Cove? Heather was acting like such a baby 👶, whining, pouting and actually stomping her foot when she didn't get what she wanted. Adam was angry 😡 at Jenny for almost everything and that has me rethinking them being together. There was the usual murders and con men that I love in this series BUT the very end had me so shocked 😲 that I reread it twice to make sure I was understanding it right. I am not sure what to think 😕 about this turn of events and it makes me even more anxious for the next book.

There is traveling musicians, new tourists, and another murder. Jenny thinks they have to wrong man for the murder, and against Adam's wishes, she decides to look into things herself. Then there is her and Adam's big day approaching. An an election for a new mayor. Can everything get taken care of and this small town get back to 'normal'? You will have to read the book for the answers.....and the ending isn't what you will expect! I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.

I always enjoy visiting Pelican Cove and loved this book-definitely my favorite one in the series. So much is happening- a mayoral race, the annual fall festival featuring a famous singer, planning Jenny and Adam's upcoming Wedding and of course a murder or two. Jenny once again promises one of the victim's family to find the killer and annoying Adam. The killer and the reason for the murder came as a surprise as did the cliffhanger ending.

I think this is the best book in the series. I didn't figure out who the killer was until he was revealed.. I want Jenny to come to her senses and realize that Jason will be a better husband.

Also, Jason comes with a great bonus, baby Emma. Jenny should listen to her Aunt Starr. She is a good judge of character.

This was a very good book. I enjoyed this mystery and the information on a troubadour. I'm not sure I like the fact that Jenny is hurting again. I want her to be happy and loved for who she is. I don't think Adam respects or appreciated her intelligence. She needs wings to fly and be herself. Please make her happy!!!!!

Ok!!!! Since the first book of this series ,I have loved each and everyone of them, the characters have become my neighbours and friends, I have even tried to make some of the food that Jenny makes. Blueberry Pancakes yummy!!!!. But this was by far the most plot changing and by far the most shocking ending. Can't wait to read book 9.

Why is Jenny so clueless.

I hate the fact that the main character has to deal with a miserable boyfriend who constantly berates her. If this is supposed to represent real life please make the main character have a backbone. She makes excuses for Adam and he’s just a jerk. I kept reading the series hoping she would dump this miserable guy but I’m tired of waiting.

We wait months for a story.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a great story. I hated the ending. I did figure it out about half way through. I hate cliffhangers. I do hope you write the next one faster than you did the last one.

I love the series

Just was wondering if you have another ending to this it is very sad. I was expecting something more at least for her but it didn’t happen that way. I just would like to hear another conclusion to that plus another mystery with it

Truffles and Troubadours

Jenny is planning her wedding with the help of her friends. There's a town meeting called to announce that the long time mayor is retiring. A complaint is made about a troubadour singing outside his home.

5/23. Jenny's wedding to Adam is faat approaching, but what about the mayorial election and the big town festival? Why does Jason suddenly have a daughter? Why are two troubadores trying to establish themselves in the town and how will that situation be resolved? Why are there two more murders and who committed them? Why does this book end so abruptly?
