Tim is a mortician, a quiet unassuming man. He's married to Susannah, a classically trained chef, an artist of sorts ... and a serial killer.

Having escaped jail by killing a deputy, she's on the run, but she's also looking for her husband, who has packed his bags and gone ... somewhere.

He's the only man who ever accepted her, loved her in his own way. But he's made a mistake in thinking that his wife would let him leave her ... alive.

I really liked the characters, as flawed as they were. Even knowing she's a serial killer ... she has a line she won't cross. She won't kill animals or children or anyone who is an innocent. Most of her victims are men ... cruel men, arrogant men, men who use women. Tim comes across initially as a little uninterested in life in general. His basement was filled with his wife's trophies ... and asked why he did not know what she was doing ... his response was that she didn't allow him down there. But now that he knows, he's afraid she may be coming after him next.

The reader gets to watch both parties on their adventures .. his looking for somewhere new and hers looking for him. Bodies continue to follow Susannah while Tim becomes a stalker of sorts.

This is a well-written psychological crime thriller with memorable characters. THE KILLING GIRL is definitely a page turner .... I read it in one sitting.

This is the follow-up to THE QUIET TYPE, but is easily read as a stand alone. Warning .. there is a slight cliff hanger, which I'm hoping means there is a 3rd book in the making.

Many thanks to the author / S Prescott Thrillers / Netgalley for the digital copy of this thriller. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

If you are a fan of Chelea Cain, the female serial killer series you will love this novel! Frankly, I wasn't quite prepared for the first scene to be as graphic as it was, so just be prepared for some gruesome murders. Susanna has been captured but of course she is as smart as she is strong so killing her captor is easy, allowing her to flee for parts unknown. Mild mannered mortician husband, Tim is worried that she'll come after him so he too flees in search of anonymity. Lots of colorful quirky characters. more murders, and surprises that may take your breath away!

A horrifying, stunning, emotional and
riveting read!! This book is supercharged,
psychological thriller!! It is power packed
with thrills and chills that will take your
breath away.
The story puts you will the serial killer as if
you are right there beside her. The fear,
smells, dirt, blood are communicated so
vividly that you will be left haunt the story.
The characters are complex, multifaceted
and three dimensional.
The story rotates between the killers view
and raw intensity for killing and her husband’s
action in trying to avoid being found by the
killer.
Drama, tension and intrigue is heightened to
mountainous proportions.
Once you start reading you will keep going
from the first word until the surprising ending.
I volunteered to read The Killing Girl. Thanks
to the author via Booksprout for the opportunity.
My opinion is my own.

I liked this one very much! It was so creepy and fun.

The writing was great, switching from Susannah to Tim and what’s happened from each of their perspectives. They both had very distinctive voices and were such interesting and unusual characters.

Was this entirely realistic? Probably not, unless Susannah is one extremely lucky person but it kept me so enthralled I didn’t even care! She was so smart, resourceful and evil (though maybe not entirely!). Tim is just an odd duck, weird and off putting (but also not entirely). It’s alluded to that both characters had difficult childhoods but not much is given about that. There is a prequel out, or coming out, that I’m sure will shed some light on that.

This ends on a cliff hanger with a huge reveal (I saw that one coming quite a while before). Normally that would aggravate me but I liked it so much I plan to continue so I’m ok. Looking forward to seeing where this one goes!!

I definitely recommend this and plan to read more by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and S. Prescott Thrillers for a copy in exchange for a review.

After having read and loved The Quiet Type, I was very much looking forward to this sequel and I was not disappointed. Susannah is a serial killer on the run. She is desperately trying to avoid the police while searching for her husband, Tim. Along the way she commits a few gruesome murders. Meanwhile, Tim is trying to start anew. The ending blew me away and I am eagerly awaiting the next book! I highly recommend reading both books!

The Killing Girl is a page turning thriller about Susannah a serial killer on the hunt for her husband. Her Husband Tim, is a quiet mortician who has no idea that his wife was a serial killer and is now on the run, a fugitive from his serial killing wife who will stop at nothing to find him.

The story is told in alternating perspectives between Susannah and Tim which adds to the complexity of the plot. Susannah does not let anyone or anything stop her from finding her husband killing anyone on the way.

The characters are so multi-dimensional it is as if you are in their heads. Dare I say I was rooting for the serial killer because this book is THAT good! This psychological thriller will leave you on the edge of your seat flipping pages as fast as possible.

Many readers know Summer Prescott for her fantastic cozy mysteries. This is a psychological thriller that is so well done. It takes a very talented author to be able to cross genres and do it THIS WELL. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves thrillers and stories about serial killers. You don't want to miss this one! Trust me!!!!!!

My Review:

I had previously read a review that stated it should not be read at night. Well, I can tell you I should have listened. This thriller keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. It is scary and the type of book you cannot put down.

I was provided this book for free in exchange for my honest opinion. And, I can tell you I highly recommend this book. But beware, you should read during the day when there is enough light that you will not be easily frightened.

When I read the synopsis and learned from another review there was a previous book- I decided to read it first. In “ The Quiet One” we are introduced to Tim Eckels and his wife Susannah. They met in a cadaver study course which he was taking for his future mortuary business and she as part of culinary classes. What Tim doesn’t know is his wife is a serial killer.
At the end of the previous book, Susannah is on the run and Tim had left town looking to build a new life.
This picks up the story with Susannah headed towards Chicago and Tim ending up in Key West.
Neither can stop thinking of the other though for different reasons. Tim is in fear of the day she finds him and Susannah isn’t sure of what she wants- to kill him or rebuild their lives together.
I read both books in one day- it’s a fast, engaging story and you can’t wait to see what happens. This one is not as filled with graphic violence but the author does a great job keeping the fascination with how easily provoked Susannah is and how little it takes to push her towards murder. It ends in a bit of a cliffhanger so I look forward to part three.

I got this book thinking it was a stand-alone novel, and while it kind of was, it’s technically a sequel so I had a bit of a hard time jumping right in. I read a few reviews and summaries of the first book which helped a lot, but just beware of that! The plot was interesting and I was intrigued enough that I kept reading to find out what happened, and conceptually I enjoyed the story. It started right at what I assume was the ending of the first book and the action is fast paced. However, the writing style was very difficult to keep me engaged. It felt simultaneously overly simplistic and complicated and just read really choppy to me. I felt like even though I wanted to be engaged in the story, it ended up being really hard to actually lose myself in this book. The dialogue felt pretty forced and I just didn’t love the overall style. Could just be me, I hope others enjoy it, like I said the story itself was interesting!

Susannah and Timothy Eckels. The perfect married couple. He is a mortician who likes a quiet life. She is a serial killer who loves him. She has her own separate space which she doesn't like him to enter. He respects her privacy. Good thing, or he would have stumbled onto her art projects, made from people parts.
When Susannah is caught, but escapes from her jail cell, Timothy realizes that he has to leave his small town where everyone knows who he is. He especially has to get away from Susannah, who terrifies him. He moves cross country to a beach town in Florida. He's not very good at interactions with other people and it's hard to know if we should feel sorry for him or laugh at his bungled attempts to get close to others. But he is, above all, a decent man who means well.
Susannah is determined to find him and she is astonishingly clever as she goes about it. Along the way, she uses whoever she can, then kills them when they are no longer of use to her.
It has a clever, surprise ending. It held my attention throughout. Well worth the purchase price.

My review of THE KILLING GIRL by Summer Prescott

Wow! No one would ever believe that Summer Prescott has written several cozy mysteries! I find THE QUIET TYPE by her a few days ago,and have now does through THE KILLING GIRL. Knowing that she has a third one coming in this series is going to keep me on edge until it was published. The same husband and wife play a cat and mouse game throughout this thriller, and I must admit that Susannah is one of the sickest characters that I have had the privilege to meet. Her poor, innocent husband is a quiet victim, with a last that has left him vulnerable to all humans, and unfortunately, his psychotic wife. If you enjoy thrillers that are gruesome, and grab you by the seat of your pants, this is a great read! Thanks, Summer, for keeping me riveted, and I will be dying while waiting to see what you come up with next! Your ending was a surprise, and you have done a superb job with both of these books!

OMG Summer has done it again!!!!! This book is something else! It grabs ahold of you from the very first sentence to the very last! In fact I had to read the last page twice to make sure I really had read what my mind thought I did. WOW!

This is her second thriller and if this and the first one are any indication she is going places.

In this one Susannah is in jail and Tim is selling everything he has to leave town. Little does he know that she has escaped and is on the hunt to find him and reunite. He finds a place where he can settle down and maybe become a baker. He has neighbors that sort of accept him and he is starting to relax...then his nightmare comes true and he realizes that Susannah has found him.

The only reason I cannot fully recommend this book is because of the cliff hanger at the end, which will leave you desperately waiting for the next book. Susannah is an evil person, but she is not a one-dimensional bad person. I don’t like her but she is a well written and is definitely the type of character that the neighbors would be on the news saying how surprised they are that she is so evil. If you have read any of Summer’s other books, you will know Timothy and may recognize the events from a different point of view, which adds to the depth of the book. It is well-written and I am ready to go back and reread it.

Wow! This book was good. It was a bit dark from what I normally read but it was so good! I was taken by the first page! I did not read The Quiet Type so I thought I may miss something but it really fell all together without the prior knowledge. I do plan to read the Quiet type soon tho ;). This is a great book about husband a wife and some pretty dark secrets. The chapters go back and forth between the two and even as gory as it could be I couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t stop reading dying to know if she got caught or got away!!!

The Killing Girl hooked me in the very first paragraph, engulfing me in the world of a serial killer on the run after escaping jail.

The Killing Game alternates points of view from Savannah, the woman hungry for blood and her husband who, up until recently, had no idea he was married to a blood thirst villain.

This book was written in a way that you starting rooting for Savannah and kind of worries about Tom’s mental state.

I started The Killing Game this morning and did not want to put it down. Sadly work and kids got away but I was able to finish this amazing piece in a day!

Bravo!!

Marriage, Deception and Murder

I read this as a stand alone book.

“Timothy Eckels, the socially inept mortician, whom she’d met in a cadaver class, was the only man that she’d ever met who looked at her without judgment”
The harder he tried to disappear the harder she fought to find him.

As soon as I started reading The Killing Girl I was instantly enthralled in the book. I read it start to finish in one day. It is definitely a must read thriller! Warning, this is not just another cozy mystery, it is a dark thriller! I hated to read the final page, but I’m curious if there will be another.

This was slightly disappointing and not quite what I expected as I wasn’t aware that this was a sequel, so I hadn’t read book 1. I was able to eventually get in to the story and follow along. There is a lot of drama, suspense, intrigue and gore in this book, but then again what else would you expect when reading a book about a serial killer!?! The story moves along nicely and is very well written, you may have a bad dream afterwards if you read this just before going to bed, I suggest reading it in daylight!

I thought that based on the title, I could expect a girl as a victim. What I didn't expect was a gothic like horror story with a very dedicated female serial killer.

She might kill many people in between. She has one real main goal: find her husband. what happens to and with him once she accomplishes that, well that depends on her mood. is he a victim? a prize? a co-conspirator?

Creepy and macabre - with more horror on the horizon.

an enticing thriller that keeps you reading until the end, and wanting more!

The first page of "The Killing Girl" grabs the reader's attention with description sensory details that bring the text to life. The descriptive imagery continues throughout the artfully crafted novel, while developing the characters and the plot. The protagonist is actually likeable, despite the fact that she's a serial killer. "The Killing Girl" is a fast paced novel that hooks the reader from start to finish, leaving the reader with questions and hoping for answers after the book is finished.

As the sequel to The Quiet Type, I felt like maybe I was missing some information. However, I can always go back to read that book, this book was easy enough to get into. The main character, incredibly sick and most likely a true example of what a serial killer would be like, I cringed on many occasions throughout this story. That is what horror is about. Well-written, though at times, awkward language, overall, very good.

I think I missed trick here, not reading book 1 The Quiet type first. Having said that this was still a very good read with a great plot line which is told from both Susannah's and Tim's point of view. Susannah, a serial killer trying to find her husband Tim, and Tim who thinks that Susannah is now in his past doesn't realise she's trying to find him at first, but then she finds him. This book is definitely a physiological thriller which will have you looking over your shoulder and wondering just how many bodies there will be at the end.

Wow! Very good book. I read The Quiet Type and this book back to back, they were both really good. I had read the Cupcakes in Paradise book that has Timothy Eckels as a character in it. It was great to read the two stories about him & his life prior to being in the cozy mystery stories. The ending of this was unexpected, I hope that there will be more stories featuring these characters so that I can see how everything plays out.

This was a quick read... i dont think there was that many pages..

I felt that this story is in-between a bigger story. The story just started what felt like in the middle of a conversation and finished a little bit later in the conversation. There was no beginning and no end, no reason or explanation.

I really liked the version of a female serial killer but there was no character development. A tad disappointed in that regard.

Susannah and Tim are on the run for very different reasons, she needs a padded room with a straight jacket Maybe some shock treatment too.lol her husband will be ending up in the nut house too, maybe they'll have matching rooms lol. I was hooked from the beginning and thought I would really like it. And I did enjoy the first 40% or so. But then I got bored. I could not connect to either character at all. I am not sure what caused them to act the way they did. And the ending was strange. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Susannah is after the only man that ever loved her. Then he left her. That was a terrible mistake Tim! After all, Tim knows what Susannah does, she kills people she thinks deserves it. Tim is her obsession and she always gets what she wants. Can Tim keep ahead of her and stay alive? This is a strange love story to say the least. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.
