Nirrin spends her days in Foresthome caring for orphans, getting into trouble, and listening to other people's adventures with secret envy. Which is why following an intriguing stranger into an unknown part of the forest seemed like a good idea at the time. Nirrin doesn't expect to find her missing parents among a band of odd-looking misfits, but family is family, right? Her hopes to reclaim the kin she'd lost are challenged, however, when she uncovers their violent plot against "Normals" like her. They'll make an exception for her (Nirrin has always been great at excepting herself from rules), but doing nothing would mean endangering her friends in Foresthome. She must stop these outcasts from—who is she kidding? She's a smart-mouthed girl with no special talents. What is she going to do, talk them to death? Maybe babysitting a bunch of other orphans in Foresthome wasn't such a bad deal after all.

I just finished the third book in the forestfolk series by Zoe Blessing. If you haven't read this series yet, you are really missing out. Nirrin is a quick read. The characters are very relatable and the storylines touch your heart. Zoe Blessing writes characters that totally pull you in. Zoe's books are amazing. You get to see a different side of Nirrin from what you see of her in the other books. You see how she is gifted in her own way. Nirrin reminds us to be caring and accepting of others. We all need to embrace our differences. I can't wait for the next book (Tessia) to come out.
I’ve just finished this book recently and I have to say that I found this book an enjoyable read. I think I enjoyed this better than the other two. Niralessa was an interesting character to read about. Her behaviour and relationship with the other characters, especially Nirrin, made the book especially enjoyable. The chemistry between Nirrin and Fenrook was also fun and I really enjoy the way they talk with one another. It was overall a pretty good read. The book’s definitely something I would read again.

I honestly was a little bit disappointed by this book series in the end. It should be about brave women, finding their way and themselves, but in the end, it's the same story about a girl falling in love thrice. If you've read the first two, leave it at that, Nirrin was not what I've expected as a grand finale.
Rated three stars Favourite quote: “Even monsters need someone to see the good in them.”
Wow, Nirrin is a trip. I first read this on Wattpad as a kid and rereading it after it was published brought back a flood of chaotic nostalgia. Our heroine is a snarky “normal” human orphan with zero powers who decides that the smartest life choice is to follow a mysterious stranger into the woods. Naturally, she stumbles into a bunch of outcasts, including her long-lost parents, which is chaotic and hilarious. The twist where her biological mother turns out to be the villain planning to attack Nirrin s home is genuinely interesting and had me hooked.
That said, this one lands at three stars because the character development didn’t quite stick. Nirrin can mouth off like a pro, but I never fully connected with her growth, and some of the romance fizzled instead of sizzled. I kept waiting for the “aha” moment of chemistry or depth that never fully arrived.
It’s still a fun, twisty story with enough surprises to keep you reading, and the world of outcasts is creative and entertaining. Just don’t expect to fall completely in love with the characters. They’re amusing, but a little flat in all the wrong places.
