Connor Connolly’s gambit to defeat Alpha Team worked, but not without significant cost. Those who helped him now find themselves without powers and Bay View City is worse off than ever. Midnight stopped answering his calls and no one has seen Iris in weeks. Connor's metabands may also finally be damaged beyond repair. Even an attempt to stop a nuclear meltdown blows up in his face and turns many throughout the world against him.

Meanwhile, life back at the academy isn’t going much better. Now that Sarah knows the full truth about Omni she feels betrayed. She's spending time with a mysterious student who has ties to Kaldonia, the hermit kingdom that's banned all metahumans. With the training facility on its last legs, Michelle gives Connor an ultimatum: stop using your metabands or leave the academy. But when he tags along on a surprise field trip to Kaldonia he discovers a secret technology that could impact metahumans worldwide forever.

Will these revelations help Connor, or ultimately destroy him?

Disappointing. Nothing makes any sense.

Sarah is angry at Conner because he didn't tell her everything, but she didn't tell him everything either. But, somehow, it's all his fault. I don't understand why Conner is so into Sarah when she treats him like garbage and is a hypocrite.

Sarah is in high school, but can somehow re-engineer a robotic exosuit that should be WAY outside her abilities? She's able to re-program Kyle's nanites without ever having seen the codebase or even the programming language?

Kyle won't face any consequences because the government doesn't want to risk war with a very minor power? huh? They tell his Kaldonia is the size of Rhode Island with a limited industrial base. Why would the US government fear anything from them? Destroying them would take an afternoon.

Once again Conner is a well-meaning moron. I get that he's 16 and lacking experience and wisdom, but come on, he's been in the situations a few times already, it's time to have him mature a bit.

Meh, fell off that one hard. The characters have a weird change in "character" from previous books, the whole thing is a mess and I am missing the small highlights from bevor, the writing is significantly weaker on basically all levels. Dialogues, characters, plot, even the fights are worse.

Meta volume four.

I liked it. The book is a quick read, with interesting characters and some good action sequences. I hope we see Conner become more mature in future, though the novels so far have taken place in only a couple of years time if I remember correctly. Start with book one, of course.

another fantastic book by Tom Reynolds!! This is a great follow up to the Omni Trilogy that came out! It continues just where the other books left off. I love books that have a continuing story especially when the author does such a good job of getting you attached to the characters in the book. You end up going through their frustrations and joys! Tom Reynolds does a great job of that. This is great too for my teenager who was just as excited to read this as I was. He has read the book series twice and really enjoyed it. Yes there is teen drama in it, but it's a story about a teenager finding his way in life and figuring out how to handle the awesome responsibility that he has been given.

Spoilers beyond this point.
--- There are a couple of directions that this could go given what the author has revealed in this book. The other Metahumans who were spawned from previous metaband wielding humans!! So cool, almost like forced evolution. Does Conner have the same powers as Iris given that he is the son of two powerful metas and he just needs to figure out his own abilities like Iris?? I am hoping for this, then he could start teleportation again, which was way cool!! He could potentially teleport to the alien planet where the magtonium came from and find out what their deal is? Or will he get a new set of metabands that will allow him to get his powers back? So many things to be excited about. Hoping for about 2+ more books to wrap up this trilogy and then maybe have another storyline start! This also leaves so many potential side stories as well with the revelations that were given in just this book.

I also have my theories about the machine the Kaldonia is using, it has to be from Midnight's stash of things that he tried to use on Jones during the major battle that is described in the midnight book! It will be cool to see Midnight get that back.

What does the future hold?! So many great possibilities! I can't wait! Sure hope the next book comes out soon!! 6 Months at most?!! Here is for hoping.

Thanks Tom!

Badly edited, the writing feels rushed and sloppy... At one point there is a time skip of a few months (Connor spends months at a remote house) then the story progresses and the few months never happened... Ok fine but there are other hugely in your face aspects that are downright absurd...Ex : Sarah is abruptly a robotics genius and can modify Midnights mech suit by herself...literally just because she is passionate with robotics...bear in mind she is at this point in time like a 17 year old kid who hasnt even finished high school with no training in engineering or anything. Jim is abruptly a Covert Support and advisor, again with 0 training just out of the blue. The entire "metahuman school" thing stops mattering at the begining of the book since no other relevant metas act in the book besides Connor and Iris. The pacing itself feels off and rushed...While reading the book I fealt like I was running between hills or something...there is no feel of an upward progression to the story...just a constant and random up and down. The final fight is super rushed...it like a 2 page fight that ends very aticlimactic and leaves a lot of open ends. Even the word "metahumans" is honestly idiotic as the authors constantly goes back and forth between the notion. First he says that metas are humans with hight teck bands that give superpowers, then that the bands may modify the Dna of the users, then that the offspring of Metas have the potential to be born with powers and finally that metas who loose their bands just become average Joes again...which one is it in the end? If the bands are shiny tools that give powers then fine, if they change the user then again fine...but for pitys sake choose one and stick with it. You can't have it both ways author! It feels like a frustrating read with some occasional intersting parts but those are few and far between...

Interesting book. As a kid, I read the first three Omni books, and after learning this came out, I read 4 and 5 a while later. The humor definitely felt a bit more childish with age, but for what Reynolds set out to do, I think it accomplished it successfully.

This was an interesting book, because it did a lot of the opposite of what I felt from Rise of the Circle, in what I feel is actually a good way. The plot was interesting, but felt a bit contrived compared to the other two, with a bit of unnecessary aspects here and there. I won't spoil the ending, but I do think that Omni won in the end a lot because of plot armor, which felt a bit anti-climatic.

However, this was a phenomenally themed book, and felt leagues ahead of the other Omni books in terms of character progression and deep themes. In this book, Connor has to bear the weight of his mistakes, and realizes that he cannot do everything by his own power. In addition to having to face real consequences, the central theme of conflict between both the antagonist and protagonist is the ability of humans to judge others, with the antagonist literally gaining the nickname "Judgement." I like the concept of Connolly having to overcome his mistakes and also the fact that judgement is not meant for human hands (but still implying the necessity of a moral right and wrong- pointing to a higher power capable of issuing justice from a divine standpoint).

Overall, not a bad book, but saved by its themes. I also was not sure how I felt about the opening of the world building to even vaster possibilities in the end.

I found this book very middle of the road. I like Justice, but I do feel like he is a downgraded Alphas. And it feels like he went evil for no reason. But then again, it feels like the alien tech made him do it. Omni was alright throughout this adventure, but Sara was slightly off-character. After how the last book ended was excepting a newfound respect from the Circle for Omni. But no, it seems everyone doesn't care what happens to him and still pushes him away. I know it's a superhero thing to do in comics, but I don't feel that this world would treat people like Meta (especially those they know) poorly. I like the alien tech, and I think Omni will be more powerful than ever. I hope the next book starts with Omni overpowering in this new suit of his. I would defiantly love to see it in the opener.

Two stars for Ivy and the other girl in the suit, apart from them I detested every other character in this book. Midnight is a terrible character, trying to be all mysterious he just comes off as dumb and condescending. As for Omni/Connor he must be the most unlikable superhero I have ever read and I have read a lot, he is selfish, a borderline stalker and even when he screws up remains totally convinced that he is in the right and the rest of the world is wrong - what a total asshole with zero redeeming features.
Even if there is another book in the series I cannot spend another hour with these characters

It's finally happened.

The series has not only finally reached its potential, but also realized it we'll.
I have had a ton of issues with the previous 3 books. I was pretty much annoyed to the point I was going to discontinue.

But thankfully I did continue, and now I feel better. The writing in this book is so much better. Everything it sets up, is well realized. All characters have some sort of arc... There are opposing themes that work well with our protagonist and antagonist.

The ending is another cliffhanger like all other books. And even though I like it, it also feels like it came out of nowhere. Still excited to see what happens in the next book.

Suspending belief on the plot...
There's still some unnecessary deaths in this, and i skimmed past some action scenes i wasn't really interested in... So i can't rate it since i might have missed something...
But Kyle is totally Warren Peace...

I think what i really like about this series is how much it reminds me of other things i like. In a good comparison, even if i feel at times there's some gruesome unnecessary stuff.

Great book!

The story keeps getting better! Just as soon as I figure out where the story is heading, you change the direction. Your plot line is intense and I love your characters. Connor is still inexperienced and he acts like I would imagine a teen aged super hero to act. Please keep this series going!

Wish Connor was more likable

It’s hard to root for Connor when the only thing good about him is that he cares about other people enough to try and save them. I still like the story, but I’d love to see Connor up his game and apply some effort to improve himself or learning something. He really just seems like a clueless teen. That said, I’ll be reading the next one.

Fun Reading

This has been a fun series to read. I have one other book to read before I get to the last Meta book, it will just be a few days before I get started. This whole series has been a good read before sleep, and a very clever concept.

Great Continuation of the Series!

Enjoyed this book in the series! Tom did a great job of weaving more parts of the Meta universe into the pages of this book, and I’m excited for the next one.

Real good series

Book 4 was not what I expected. It was better!!! Tom Reynolds once again shows just how good he is at story telling. The twist and turns this story line takes keeps one interested page by page. Get fought up in this superhero drama, its worth it.

Great series

I'm looking forward to the next one. This series is fast paced, but it's pretty good. Not a complicated read, but it's still riveting for those who enjoy superheroes.

I enjoyed this story. One of the most underrated things about this series is the subtle/not so subtle genre cross over.

I’m hooked.

I’m not at all a fan of the genre and wouldn’t normally make such a purchase, but I took a chance on the first of the series and have been hooked ever since. Great lead character with lots of subtle humour. The series doesn’t take itself too seriously and I think that’s why I’m a fan and look forward to every release. Keep up the good work Tom. 🤘🏻👊🏻👍🏻👌🏻

starts a bit slow, but has a lot of universe development, picks up the pace about a third of the way through. Sets up the next book in the series.
