Second Chances

Rate this book
Two broken hearts. One small town. One BIG secret.

When my new boss showed up, she turned my small-town life upside down.

That sophisticated woman sticks out like a sore thumb in this mountain town.

Oh, did I mention that she’s older, curvy, and sexy as hell?

Yeah, every guy in town want to get her into their bed.

Not me.

I know that city girls don’t last long in Chance Rapids.

And, something doesn’t add up.

For a fancy land developer, she doesn’t know the first thing about running a construction site.

She’s hiding something from me. I can tell.

But, those green eyes and yoga pants light a fire inside me and I can’t stay away. I want to put a baby inside her.

It's crazy. I’ve been burned before, but she makes me want to risk it all.

When Megan’s secret threatens to rip them apart, will Josh be able to give her a second chance?

Terrific. Megan married to Alex fifteen years, no children, not for a lack of trying. He asked for a divorce because his girlfriend was pregnant. Megan met Timber and his owner, Josh. Instant attraction. She was staying in Charlotte's mansion in Chance Rapids. Josh was building her a coffee shop. He assumed she was the owner. She began dogsitting for Josh because Timber had a bad habit of running away to explore. You need to read Second Chances by A. J. Wynter to see what happens.

It's a great second chance story in the lives of two people hurt in their relationship. I liked, the way they both discover that they may be able to try a new relationship despite their past : Josh, an entrepreneur in the mountains who lost his fiancée, and Megan who, with the help of his friend Charlotte, left her husband who was cheating on her and who has hidden all their money. She has nothing, but Charlotte having made a fortune and wanting revenge for her past in this small mountain tourist town, so she lets Megan leaving in her house and she allows her to start a new life by being a manager of a coffee shop.
I liked the style with which the author managed to describe the evolution of their relationship, because even if the story remains simple, it is quite moving. The plot is rather predictable, but the story remains good.

Another chance in Chance Rapids Can you imagine being stood up on your prom night. It is a nightmare that came true for Charlotte when her date Logan didn’t shoe up with no explanation. To make it worse the rumour mill started and they were not nice to put it mildly and yet Logan remained silent. Embarrassed she leaves the small town and changes her name. She becomes a highly successful business woman and changes her name. For her, she left all the trauma behind until her best friend wants her to be her maid of honour back in Chance Rapids. He is a retired pro hockey players who came back to town to live a simpler life, and as a friend of the groom, he is in the wedding party too. A second disaster or a second beginning, you have to read it to find out.

This is a contemporary sexy romance with a well thought out storyline. Nothing is simple for the characters but the chemistry between them is apparent and the love scenes are steamy. The characters are likeable and seem to come alive and you can empathize with them as they are put through an emotional ringer. There are twists and turns and surprises. You will want to see how it all turns out with all the drama. It is a great read. If you like good storytelling, romance with some spice and a good feeling when your done, then you will love this book. I know I did.

After coming out of a marriage and determined to start over with the nothing that her Ex left her, Megan begins again in a small town. It is here, in Chance Rapids, that she meets a beauiful dog, Timber, and Timber's owner, Josh. To me, Second Chances has a wonderfully written storyline with the realistic characters to match. Instant love at first sight and an impressive journey to follow.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Second Chances in exchange for my honest opinion and strongly encourage all fans of romance to pick up a copy and get started ASAP. You won't be able to walk away from this impressive release. Congratulations to A.J. for crafting such an emotionally charged book.

To many errors

I really wanted to like this book. I made it to 55% and had to stop. There were just to May errors. I found myself having to continuously re-read most of the book. It was hard to know who was talking or if they were texting e with each other. Parade were not separated correctly. One sentence Megan is in the kitchen talking to Chat and the very next sentence she is at the construction site. So disappointed 😔

Lovely story

Indeed there are second chances. Storys so full of wonderful aspect, sad and heartbreaking, fun and exciting, romance and intimacy and some good karma in the end. Too bad theres no story on Charlotte and Logan...is there? Would really love to find out more. Good job AJ!

4 Skiing Mountain Men Love Filled Stars

Second Chances is the first book in the Chance Rapids series by A.J. Wynter.

Megan Brittle, formerly Megan Snellton, just went through a nasty break-up. After discovering the sonogram picture of her soon-to-be ex-husbands mistress, with the heavy weight of trying and failing during their 15 years together to have their own child, Meg’s throwing her own pity party and wallowing in what life’s thrown her way.

Her best friend, Charlotte O’Hare, swoops in to save her from her new personal bubbling misery; hiring her an expensive shark of a defense attorney and setting her up in her ‘cabin’ in the small ski town of Chance Rapids. Her first day after arrival in her new snowy escape, a very wolffish husky shows up outside Charlotte’s vacation home sans owner. Leading Meg to meet the man behind the pup, who slowly but surely is going to drag her out of her funk.

Charlotte’s got a little mystery of her own, adding certain twists to this ski-resort-esque romance.

One can only hope to read romance novels filled with strong heroines, and as luck would have it this time around that happened to be the case.

Wynter pulled together a very down to earth and fulfilling novel about love, inner strength, and broadening ones horizons; after you exorcise some dead weight of course.

Sweet and easy enjoyable read.

SECOND CHANCES is a sweet, wonderful small-town-second-chance-at-love that I got through fairly quickly and somewhat of a change up from what I normally read. I love small town and second chance romances of all tropes and genres and Author AJ Wynter certainly kept me engaged.

Megan had been betrayed in the worst possible way by her husband and when she finally lost her rag at him it was a thing of beauty! Karma got him good!

Josh as our small town hero was down to earth and perfect for Megan, while Charlotte, her best friend was one driven lady, offering her the best chance ever at her new life. Josh was the yummy icing on top.

Yep, I enjoyed this first read from Ms Wynter and I’ll be sure to check out some more, especially the next one in the series, ONE MORE CHANCE.

4-sweet-romantic-Stars and a recommendation that this is perfect for anyone who loves sweet and easy reads 💖💞✯

Perfect, fantastic, sexy as hell!!!

This is second book of this author that I gave 5*. It is just perfect. This is true second chance trope. There are second chances almost for everyone in the book. Because everyone deserves second chance, right? Or maybe not?
There is a lot of twists in the plot but it is so perfectly delivered that there is no way to be lost. I loved every single character that showed on the pages, even the villain. Good story needs to have at least one, otherwise it would be too sweet and too easy. There are unsaid truths and soon everything threatens to come to abrupt stop and hearts will be broken. I really couldn't put the book down I was so immersed by the story line. I hope to read more about other characters that showed up in this book. Waiting impatiently for the next parts of the series.

A feel good romance

This is a lovely, feel good romance set in a small town with a great vibe.

Megan is running away from the city after her marriage broke down. She runs to her friends ‘cabin’ in Chance Rapids, trying to heal her heart and rebuild her life.

Josh is the local carpenter getting over a tragedy in his life. Introduced to Megan thanks to his escapologist dog, the attraction is evident from the start.

The story builds up a lovely picture of Megan and Josh’s developing relationship, whilst giving more details of the town and its residents. The back story and secondary characters hint at a great series to come.

The inevitable twists and turns mean the path to true love doesn’t run too smoothly, but the end result is worth it. A great read from an author I haven’t read before. I look forward to seeing where this series will go.

A beautiful story of Second Chances

This is a beautiful story of a woman rising from the ashes of a deep betrayal. Megan is starting her new life over in a small snowy town when she is greeted by a very large dog named Timber. After calling the number on Timber's 5ag, she meets his owner. Josh is an incredible man who has been contracted to build a cafe/coffee shop for Megan's friend Charlotte. There are secrets that begin to cause issues in a possible relationship. Later, during a crisis, Josh and Megan are forced to look inside their hearts to determine if their love is worth fighting for. A. J. Wynter has written a meaningful book that will make you believe in Second Chances.

From broken to whole

Megan had the ultimate betrayal from her husband of 15 years. He cheats on her and has an ultrasound of a baby in gym bag...and its not hers she has failed in this aspect, or has she???
Josh was afraid to love after loosing his fiance to an accident.
When Megans best friend lets her stay in house in the small town of Chance Rapids, the town assumes she is the rich owner, and when Charlotte hires her to be the face of the coffee shop she is building and to not tell anyone about her, she agrees, although she disagrees.
But when Josh and her start getting close and he opens his heart to her she can't tell him everything without giving away Charlotte.
Can these two find their way to hea??

so sweet

Megan came to Chance Rapids with a broken heart and a borrowed identity. Set up by her successful friend in her little used luxury ski lodge, Megan barely had time to wallow before a wandering husky introduced her to his owner. Josh was intrigued by Megan, but swore she was off limits, he knew better than get involved with the snow bunnies on the rich side of town. But Megan’s friend happens to have a project going in town and she wants Megan to take the lead, and of course wouldn’t Josh be the head contractor on sight? Unable to avoid one another they hit it off fast. After losing his fiancé a few yrs back Josh is hesitant with his heart, but he can’t resist Megan and takes it hard when the secret identity her friend forced on her is revealed.

I love story and how it doesn't wait to build up intensity, it immediately jumps right into it. Gripped me from first few pages, wow. Great characters, all wrapped with emotionally engaging issues. Meg may be a "city girl" but with the love and support of her best friend Charlotte I think she discovers herself, eventually. Josh is the icing on the cake, he's really a sweetheart, young and strong, lol. Also love the flow and pace of this second chances. This small town will draw you in and make you fall in love and want to visit either side of the bridge. I can't wait to read Charlotte's story.

Cute Romance

I really enjoyed this book. Sure, it had sad moments but I really connected with Megan. I am also 43 and unable to conceive. It's heartbreaking and frustrating. What her husband did to her was unconscionable. His continued treatment of Megan was slimy and I wanted to deck him. Fortunately, Megan's wonderful friend Charlotte let's her live in her mansion several hours away so she can try and clear her head. While there, Megan wallows but meets a striking, younger man and his snuggley dog. A perfect romance blooms and all that stands in the way are Megan's not-quite-truths.

Loved this book and can't wait to read the next one in the series.

Megans husband since 15 years cheated on her, and she needs to get away. A friend offers her a place to stay and a job overlooking renovations. Josh is the construction foreman who cannot let go of his wife, whom he lost years ago. He is also the owner of the cutest dog, Timber. Despite a lot of misunderstandings Megan and Josh learns that everything is not what you see or assume at first site. This is a lovely story about a second chance for love, enjoyable with plenty of chemistry between the main characters. I received this ARC as a gift and I am voluntarily submitting this review.

I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book. (1.18.19) I have read every one of AJ's books. I've loved them all! People from two walks of life; or were they. Josh is falling for Megan, but feels it could never work! She's the rich socialite who'd never fall for the local contractor! AJ made me fall in love with Josh, and endeared Megan to me! I wanted and hoped and prayed for an HEA for these two! You'll have to read to find out if AJ answered my prayers!

A sweet second chance romance. Everything is not what you can see or assume at first site. She is older with a broken heart because of her soon to be ex of 15 years. She is using a friends place which turns out to be more than she thought which makes people in this small town think she is rich. He is a construction foreman. they meet through his dog. There is so much more involved. I highly recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

There are so many things to love in this sweet second chance story.
The way Charlotte supports Megan when she doesn’t kow what to do. How she give her a place and something to do and how she believes in her.
Then Josh comes around - a beautiful mountain man or more a talanted carpenter in a small town.
Megan and Josh connected in a very good way, much thanks to Timber.
I couldn’t put this book down.

A well written second chance romance. Would have liked it to be more in dual POV which gives the reader a lot more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. Likeable characters who develops nicely through the story. Two characters who both have a past they have to get through before they can have their HEA. I like the chemistry, drama and emotional ups and downs.
An enjoyable and easy read.

So few shelves to put this one on...not raunchy, not cocky, not OTT...just a good old fashion romance between two moderately broken people. He's recovering from a massive trauma (physical and emotional) and she is getting over her cheating nasty ex...both looking to just find a calm and then they find their second chance with eachother.
She is 9 years older, he feels older than his 34 years...so they are even.
Good story

She's recently divorced from a guy who cheated on her and hid their assets in a divorce, leaving her penniless. She moves to a friend's home town, lives in the friend's house, and is managing a construction project/new coffee house start for her.

He's a 30-something widower, still traumatized by his wife's death. He's the general contractor on the building project. He's also seen too many outsiders break local's hearts when they love them and leave them to return to the big city.

Sweet Second chance

After being cheated on and lied to, Megan needed an escape and found it in a tiny mountain town where she meets Josh the hot, mountain man carpenter. A younger guy. He is sweet and very likeable.
The story flowed quickly without too much drama. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
