The three young children of Adelard de Blays—two sons and a daughter—are separated when their father commits treason against the King of England. Follow each of their stories in The King’s Cousins, a new trilogy by Alexa Aston.

1342 A.D. – Spirited away when his father Adelard de Blays commits treason, bastard Quill Cardon longs to reclaim his family name when he reaches manhood and reunite with his half-siblings, Landon and Katelyn. Winning the king’s tournament at Smithfield and saving the life of Prince Edward leads to Quill being awarded an earldom and an estate of his own—but what he most desires is Lady Tristanna Willoughby, a woman he can never have.

Tristanna has served for years as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Philippa and has waited for the return of her betrothed, Jarrett Marsden, from the war in France. Tristanna dislikes Jarrett, who chases anything in a skirt, and longs to wed Sir Quill Cardon, an honorable knight who has captured her heart.

When circumstances change, Quill and Tristanna have a chance at happiness—until a man seeking revenge threatens to tear them apart.

Each book in The King’s Cousins Trilogy is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.

Quill Cardon was spirited away from home to the opposite side of the country as a young boy. That was the only way his father could protect him. Many years later he will have a chance of a family once more. He has proven himself to be a man of honour and is respected by all who know him.
Lady Tristanna Willoughby is not looking forward to the men coming home from this latest battle with France. She has been told that she will have to marry her hated betrothed when they return. Serving as a lady in waiting to the Queen she has managed to avoid being alone with him for years.
An exciting story of historical romance and adventure. The King likes to celebrate with a tourney after the battle. Time to make new friends and enemies.
This is the third book in the series. While you can read any of them on thier own, if you intend to read the series it's best read in order. I have read and enjoyed each of them.
I loved it.

The third in the King's Cousin series has the story of the brother, Quill Cardon, who with his two sisters had to flee when their father committed treason against the King. He only wants to reclaim his family name and find his two sisters.
He is own his way to doing that as he wins a king's tournament and saves the life of Prince Edward. Oh yes, I loved Quill (great name!) and his desire to have Lady Tristanna, a lady in waiting for Lady Philippa. But there is a problem, because she is betrothed to another and awaits him to return from the war. Unfortunately that man is very mean, cruel and dangerous. But Tristanna longs for Quill also and it finally seems they may can be together.
Seems simple? Well no, a lot really begins to happen and their happiness is threatened. Alexa Aston has had me enthralled as I read each book and this was no different. She is able to create a world with her words you feel a part of and characters that come alive.
As I turned the last page I could only sigh. Do not miss The Bastard or books one and two. You will be glad you did! PS Did I mention I loved the cover?

This has been an excellent series , one I’ve enjoyed immensely.
The Bastard is the Third book and follows the life ,adventures and love of Quill De Blays , the child sent from his home and siblings to protect him when the kings men come to arrest his father for treason .
His HEA is Tristanna , the sister of one of his brothers in arms, from his battles in France, and a lady in waiting to the Queen , she’s also betrothed to a man who is ruthless, irresponsible and cruel .
The two realise their love can not be ,but it doesn’t stop their feelings, however when Tristanna and Quinn are together somehow everything is right and good , so much is to come , so many conflicts and trials face the two .
An Epic story that will hold your attention and have you on the edge of your seat , twists and turns galore and as always the brilliant writing of Alexa Aston will keep you spellbound till the end .
Don’t miss this one !

A very typical Medieval Romance.

A breathtaking Medieval beauty,a heroic knight , King and Queen, tournaments and joustings, these are characters and events one finds in a typical Medieval time romance, but this story has its own charms and suspense.I would recommend this book to Medieval Romance lovers.

Wonderful series

The way the stories flow into each other makes for a continuous series. I am most curious as to what will follow. I have a few ideas but will just have to wait and see. Alexa has a sound basis to continue on with other aspects of the family lines. As we know that during that time, it was not unusual at all for men to create "bastards". Some they don't even know about until later in their lives. Some say not much different in modern day. An outstanding series by Alexa Aston.

An emotional whirlwind of love & hope torn from a time lanced by darkness & bloodshed. Brilliant!!

I have loved this series immensely including, and mainly thanks to discovering and enjoying, it's prequel. Each book has only escalated my regard for Aston as a great, historical romance, story teller, keeping me emotionally entangled and invested until the last written word.  Each addition to the series has been crammed with adventure, passion, intrigue, intense and soul-achingly-deep love matches, some of the most horrendously horrific villians and interwoven with emotional turmoil and enjoyably unexpected twists and turns. The chemistry, traumatic histories and present turmoils of the bighearted, (swoon worthy), strong romantic heroes and their fiery, compassionate and strong-willed heroines make for incredibly touching and compelling reading. Katelyn & Nicholas,  Landon & Cassiana and now Quill & Tristanna have had be falling in love, championing them and laughing and crying along with their stories from the beginning. I couldn't urge you to read 'The Bastard' and the entire series more; you won't be disappointed. I only hope Aston honours some of the minor characters, like Lady Catherine, with a happy ever after too. I'm not yet ready to leave medieval Northumberland behind. Brilliant, highly recommended author and series!!

There is so much to enjoy about THE BASTARD. From how celebrations were held in medieval times to battles fought for their king to countless emotional moments, I was enthralled with every aspect portrayed in this engrossing story. Alexa Aston once again lets her imagination create situations that are truly realistic during each scene, where individuals come across as so genuine while also displaying such vividly conveyed feelings. I always feel as though I am right beside any character in the story, experiencing the many fascinating events right along with them.

Although Quill Cardon was the firstborn son of an earl, he would never inherit the title because of the circumstances of his birth. Right before his father is arrested for treason, the young boy is secretly sent away for his protection and grows up to eventually fight for England. After the English are victorious over France in a decisive battle, Quill becomes the champion in a tournament that is celebrating the victory. Though his heroic actions afterward lead to him receiving a title and land, what he really wants is to be acknowledged for his true background and to wed Lady Tristanna Willoughby, a woman recently met and promised to another man.

Not all of the developments in THE BASTARD are expected, thus leaving me stunned when any unforeseen turns are revealed. Though I did know several of the secrets that most of the characters had not learned, I had no clue about other surprising truths as the author kept them well hidden. The relationship of Quill and Tristanna is almost magical at times, as the couple feel they have no future, yet avoiding the pull between them is impossible. I really felt for them, as their situation definitely seems hopeless, and the journey they had to take while seeking happiness is cleverly carried out with lots of emotional challenges. The events during the tournament were especially entertaining, and I could easily picture the two riders charging toward each other during the joust. Another remarkable book in the King's Cousins series plus a gratifying conclusion.

Terrific story

Quill was never a bastard, by name or deed, despite what others were lead to believe. But since the age of seven , for his own safety and as the result of a promise, he has kept his true name and lineage a secret, even at his own expense. Luckily, Quill was made the ward of a benevolent lord and raised to be a respected knight and the adopted ‘brother’ of another who truly cared for him.
While traveling and fighting with this brother for England the two end up in London after a truce is signed with the French. It is there that Quill becomes enthralled with a lady-in-waiting for the queen, Lady Tristanna. Unfortunately the young beauty has been betrothed to another knight since childhood, and he IS a bastard by deed.
The plot becomes filled with intrigue, twists, and some surprises as the two long for a future with each other that does not seem destined at all. Their romance begins sweetly and grows into a heated desire that can barely control.
I really enjoyed this story and it is a page turner from start to finish. I also enjoyed the first two books in this series, but this was the best so far. I highly recommend it.
On a side note, I would be curious to see if one of the characters from the first story, the young widow, Lady Catherine, finds a love of her own....

The Bastard starts with Adelard de Blays committing treason he tries to get his bastard son Quill Cardon to safety before the king’s troops arrive. Adelard sends Quill off with one his most trusted friends, a man who know Quill is no bastard but the first born son of Adelard to foster far away. Quill rises to become a knight who hopes to one day find his sibling and reclaim his family name. Tristanna is a lady-in-waiting to Queen Philippa and has waited for the return of her betrothed, Jarrett Marsden, from the war in France with her brother. Quill is most intrigued by Tristanna, her brother talked of her and her betrothed and not in favorable terms either. Quill witnesses how cruel Jarrett is to Tristanna and befriends her to protect her when he can. Quill and Tristanna comes to love each knowing their futures are not to be. After winning the king’s tournament at Smithfield and saving the life of Prince Edward leads to Quill being awarded an earldom and an estate of his own, but the one thing he most wants is out of his reach, Tristanna. I loved this story of Quill and Tristanna as they struggle to be together against all odds. This was a great ending to the trilogy as we see all three sibling in this book and how their lives a intertwining and progressing in the king’s service to the crown. This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

This whole series (all 3 books) is excellent. If you have a long weekend ahead of you, get all 3 books. The stories are well worth your time and from beginning to end you will be well entrenched in the stories, plots and of course, the romance. I was. And I didn't come up for air until they were all complete. I had an awesome time with the King's Cousins. I know you will too.

Stealing away in the dark was not what Quill had wanted. Leaving his father and his half siblings for an unknown future, Quill vowed to clear his father’s name and to find his brother and sister. Betrothed since birth to the son of her father’s friend, Tristanna loathes her chosen spouse, but is resigned to her fate. In flaunting his liaisons to all, Tristanna exchanges a kiss with Quill, realizing that this may be her only time to have the one she chooses. As Quill and Tristanna begin to form a mutual attachment and attraction to each other, fate steps in. She must return to her home and prepare to wed and he must decide how to spend his life without her.
Once again, Ms. Aston has given her readers a wonderful story with a perfect ending, although not without a few surprises and twists!

Quill Cardon was 7 years old when he was torn away from all that he had ever known. His father, charged with treason, was taken away in the middle of the night by the King’s men. Before he was captured, Adelard de Blays, managed to send Quill away to Lord Oswin; who would protect him. Just like his half-sister and brother, Quill grew up not understanding his place in society. His life with Lord Oswin was fulfilling and he earned his Knight’s spurs with the brother of his heart, Ned the Lords son. This is a wonderful, exciting and fulfilling adventure that takes Quill from his allegedly treasonous beginnings to becoming the Knight that saves King Edward and his son. Alexa Aston has provided a wonderful series, characters and truly an adventure that keeps you reading.

This is the third book in the series, but a stand alone book. I think it was my favorite of the three. I loved all of them, but especially loved Quill’s story. Growing up knowing what he did about his parentage and never holding a grudge against anyone. He is an honorable man who has one dream and that is to claim his rightful name. Tristanna is very taken with Quill when she meets him. Knowing she is soon to be married and dreading her soon to be life just wants a kiss to remember forever from a Quill. This story has such wonderful characters and such a wonderful story. I just loved it. Even though you don’t have to read the previous two books I would recommend reading them, it makes this one so much better! Definitely recommend this book!

All things. work together for Good

This is a great series written by Alexa Aston.
Quill Cordon is the son of Lord Adelard de Blays and Lady Cecily Elyot. Lady Cecily died giving birth to Quill. Lord Adelard brought Quill home to be raised by another family but he still played with Landon and Katelyn.
This book is one that should be read to see what goes on in Quill’s life.
You will not be disappointed!!

Quill has been sent to Lord Oswin after his father has been accused of Treason. Lord Oswin will protect Quill and raise him as a ward giving him all of the opportunities that his own son will have. Tristanna Willoughby is a lady-in-waiting to the Queen she is also betrothed to a truly despicable man who only cares for himself and his needs. When Quill meets Tristanna there is immediate chemistry although he knows if he is to live by his knightly code he must walk away.....

Good Story

I enjoyed this story, the third in a series about three siblings related to the king, but torn apart because of politics and decisions of their parents. Well-written characters and a twist that adds new meaning to the title.

Revelations, Acknowledgment, and Romance

I love this series . Fast paced action. Thrilling adventure. The height of romance. The time has come when everything had to be out and in the open. Quill is an honorable and loyal knight. King Edward II has agreed to a 5-year truce with France after brutal and savage wars. Treasury from both countries have been almost depleted. As a diversion for his people and a show of goodwill, he suggests a tournament for the English knights and invites the French knights too. Ned is excited to join with Quill as his squire. Unfortunately, Ned is injured in an accident with runaway horses and asks Quill to take his place and represent his house. Reluctantly, Quill accepts.
The tournament is as exciting as it is dangerous and brutal. He wins the jousting tournament against the best and arrogant Frenchman. During the awarding ceremony, Quill notices the Frenchman 's action and jumps on him. He just averted the assassination of the young English Prince and possibly also the king. A shaken king asks Quill what he wants as a reward. Anything he wants will be given to him. Quill always wanted an estate and a family of his own. He wants Tristanna, the only woman he loves, but she is betrothed to another. So what will he ask for? Nothing means anything without Tristanna. Suddenly he finds himself in unfamiliar waters. He requests for time to make a decision. Quill goes and spends time with his sister and brother 's family, who he thinks will be able to advise him.
Lots of unexpected things happen during his visit. There is murder and deception and an unexpected revelation. Lots of villains, mystery, intrigue, kidnapping and suspense. This is a well written story with outstanding plot and characters. Love the flow of the story and how it all came out in the end. So what do you think Quill will ask for? I highly recommend this book and series.

Excellent series of stories & characters

I only had one confusion with this book. I do not recall ever reading in Landon's book about him finding his brother. Possibly there was a novella in between. I was waiting for the reunion on when they found eachother, but it was either not memorable or a different story all together. I adored this book, but feel disappointment over the lack of finding eachother again.

Trilogy

This trilogy had a promising storyline but the details and dialog need to be fleshed out to make it convincing. Also needs more plot twists, very predictable as is. Finally, book covers show 2 out of 3 as blonde when it was made very clear all were Raven headed. I hope author continues to improve, as I said there was much potential in the idea.

I gave this one two stars because it made me laugh it was so bad. At one point she has the hero with his tongue in the heroine's "bellybutton." This book takes place in the 1350 s and the term belly button did not come into use until 1875. And to use the term during a sex scene was just too, too, amusing.

Having now read all three novels the pawn, the heir and the hazards, I can say how much I enjoyed them all. The continuing stories are best in order and I found myself unable to put them down until I finished them. Each story followed the De blays children thru intrigue, honor and love.
