Mindfulness (2nd Edition): 6 Week Guide … — Randy Young (Intro + Cause of Stress + Stress + 57 “tip” chapters + Conclusion) June 23-24, 2019

NOTE: This book title was confusing. This was the title I read on my Kindle, but Goodreads has it titled: Beginners Guide To Mindfulness: 27 Ways To Live A Stress-Free, Happy, & Calm Life. The previous title may only be the paperback version?

Short “tip” chapters are very helpful for quick bites and I worked through this book on mindfulness. I have read a few of these books, and I really lied the approach the author used, defining the cause of stress first and then offering up tips. The approach makes the mindfulness lifestyle more meaningful to beginning practitioners. I wish I had a book like this when I started reading this method to de-stress.

This was intended to be read over six weeks, although I never got the impression how that was suppose to work. I jumped in and started reading. I don’t think you necessarily need to follow the tips in order. I did, but I didn’t see any advantage doing that.

Very good for the most part. I see myself going back and re-reading tips. The part I didn’t like was the interruptions every so many chapters of self-advertising for other books by the author. I really loathe that when self-help authors do that. It almost made me want to stop reading and not finish! One star knocked off for those intrusions alone!

Three stars.
