Odd Gods #2

Odd Gods: The Oddyssey

Rate this book

Diary of a Wimpy Kid meets Percy Jackson in Odd Gods , the critically acclaimed and hilarious illustrated series about the middle school gods you never hear about in myths. In book two, Oddonis must embark on the strangest odyssey ever to save Zeus from the world’s cutest curse.

Sometimes it feels like Oddonis can’t do anything right. Especially compared to his literally perfect twin brother, Adonis. But this time, Oddonis has really messed up by accidentally turning his father, the all-powerful king of the gods, Zeus, into a giant baby.

Now it’s up to Oddonis to assemble a team of his odd friends—Mathena, Gaseous, and Puneous—and journey to the underworld to get the curse reversed. Along the way, Oddonis will have to overcome a series of dangerous obstacles, his obnoxious brother, his own self-doubt, and the horrible scents of his best friend Gaseous.

Can gods as unheroic, unhealthy, and unappealing as Oddonis and his friends really save the day?

Get ready to overcome the odds in the second hilarious book about the Odd Gods from author David Slavin, filled with dozens of black-and-white illustrations by award-winning artist Adam Lane.

‘Absoluut!’ roept Insomnia. ‘Het bevat geweldige wiskundige enigma’s!”

This, the second installment of Odd Gods, is one of the best books I've ever read. It yields perpetual laughter for the reader!

This book is about how this boy named Oddonis, whose father is Zeus, he accidentally turned his father into a baby. So the main part of the book is trying to turn him back to his normal self. Oddonis goes through every step in order to turn his father back, he might sometimes go through hard times like Zeusy running away, rubbing oatmeal on his head, etc. For me, this book wasn’t as fun as other books. I give it a 2/5.

The “Odd Gods Odyssey” by David Salvin is a humorous chapter book to read. It is about the odd stories of the Greek Myth. It starts off with Zeus’ birthday when Hades sends a letter to him that turns him into a toddler! Oddonis, Zeus’ odd son has to turn him back to his old self before the other Gods know! I recommend this book to young readers who like funny and joking stories! I rate this book 3 out of 5 because I think it was a bit too childish for me, but other than that, it was good.

Second in the series. The brother and their friends must work together to visit their Uncle Hades in the Underworld after Oddonis accidentally turns his father, Zeus, into a child again. Hades tricks him into reading a "poem" for Zeus's birthday.
Plenty of humor and adventure to appeal to middle grade readers. Great message about everyone having something to contribute.

This was a cute story and there are lessons that can be learned. It was a very easy and fun read.
Just because you are different doesn’t mean you have to hide or that you can’t do things like everyone else.

This is the second book in the Odd Gods series. I really enjoyed this one also! Oddonis and friends, including his brother and the Other Gods go on a journey of self discovery on their way to see Uncle Hades. It is a fun adaption of the Odyssey. (The Oddyssey, get it?)

Funny and again, a good message lol

I liked this one more than book 1. It's basically a parody of the Odyssey tale. Hades tricks Oddonis to transform his dad, and so he takes off on a journey with the his brother Adonis and the other Odd gods to reverse it.
As usual, his brother is less than helpful. But Oddonis is very understanding of Hades and wants to see his uncle and father reconcile.
Love that theme of family and forgiveness. It was actually really sweet. Also love that Oddonis's feats were backed up and his mother lectured the favored son haha
