Incredible Visual Illusions is among the most comprehensive collections of optical illusions ever assembled. Author Al Seckel sketches a history of illusions for the reader, and cites the fascinating origins of each illustration, from Da Vinci's anamorphosis to modern-day computer-generated tricks of eye. Readers can learn about the cognitive science behind these amazing artworks and examine the ways in which we see and perceive, and how the human brain interprets the visual messages transmitted from the eye. This book is an authoritative, thorough, and enjoyable guide to an extraordinary subject.
A really interesting read. Easy to follow and understand with great illustrations to support concepts discussed. Next step would be to show how to duplicate the ideas.
A collection of the different types of visual illusions, including some very famous ones, together with explanations as to what they actual are and how they fool us. Some literally jump off the page, but others I just couldn’t see, no matter how hard I tried. Not a lot of reading, just many illustrations that are interesting to puzzle over.
Fun! Lots of quirky images, with many of cultural worth. Disclaimer: Your eyes may feel like they are about to bleed if you try to read this in one sitting.
