Stone Protector: Tex's Story

Rate this book
Half gargoyle, half fairy Aileen Foley has never fit into either world. She’s spent her life separated from humans and would like to keep it that way. Along comes Tex, a human who disregards the walls she’s put up. But when she is assigned to protect his sister and the pair stumble on a plot by goblins to take over the world she can’t deny that being a part of something bigger than herself feels pretty good. When her assignment is done and the bad guy is defeated, will she succumb to what Tex has to offer? A place in a family. Her relationship with Tex will only last as long as the assignment. Her past just may destroy whatever they’ve built.

I received a copy from BookSprout; this is my honest review.
-Editing needs another pass. Really. One issue was that Aileen contradicted herself by saying she knew she didn't need either a gargoyle or a fairy to get the best power since she had both. Later on, she underestimate her powers and is quite surprised by the results. If she was an assassin, how did she not use those powers? Needs editing: wrong words, missing words, scratched-out words, etc.
-Aileen reminded me very much of a feminist and I didn't really like it. It gave a sour note to the story. It was also a bit unbelievable since she came from the old world.
-I loved Tex since the beginning, then with the gargoyles in uniform. It made my heart ache because of what Aileen made him going through. She better make up to him.
-There is so much action going on with this story, sometimes it's hard to follow (or understand) all the details you are given.
-Not boring at all, get ready to start "flying" the moment you open page one.

Nice twist! Aileen half gargoyle/fairy feels she doesn't fit comfortably into any world. She works security at Grotesque and sometimes as a bartender. She had excellent skills and thought she would be alone for life. Tex, was the only human working for Foley Security. He guarded his territory. His sister Celia is engaged to a candidate for governor of PA. He was 10 years older and raised her after their parents died. He got divorced, spiraled out and ended up homeless. He put his problem solving skills to work and made his homelessness work for him. He met Donal, who gave him a job. His sister, Celia's fiance was running for Governor. Aileen had all sorts of feels for Tex that she didn't understand. There were a lot of unexpected occurrences in this story. It was nice to get an up close and personal look at Tex. His and Aileen's story was great. Nice characters, nice story twist and flow. Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Tex goes with his bosses to Grotesque and encounters Aileen.
Half gargoyle and half fairy Aileen Foley works security at the pop up club Grotesque and is shocked when four men enter and she recognizes three of them as her half-brothers. The forth man Tex is human and asks Aileen out but she refuses. Later that evening he is so drunk that she calls an Uber to collect him but when she takes eyes off him he goes missing. She goes looking for him and hears the sound of someone getting a beating plus the sound of voices saying it is a warning to your sister's husband but as she approaches they run off leaving Tex on the floor. The Uber arrives so she bundles him in and takes him home.

This story follows the trilogy of Gargoyle's love and concern's the missing Fairy/Gargoyle girl. She was cursed to be immortal in punishment for her fathers sins and has built a life for herself. Her life is built on lies and assumptions which have caused her to follow a dark path. Can a human tech nerd find his way into her life and give her the family she never knew she needed. This may be my favourite of the 4 books as I loved Aileen and Tex.

Half gargoyle, half fairy Aileen Foley has never fit into either world and she has spent her life separated from humans, which suits her just fine. Then she meets Tex!

This is a good story that keeps the story line smoothly moving forward. It offers a good blend of drama, emotional turmoil and action. The author brings the characters to life for the reader and I quickly found myself caring about them. Grab your copy and enjoy Aileen and Tex’s story.
