“Writing stories is a passion. Making people emote to these stories is priceless.” – Karan Sharma After more than twenty years of working in a highly successful family business and owning a popular brand in the interiors industry, Karan decided it was time to get into self publishing—an idea that came to mind when he saw his son having so much fun reading books. It rekindled a latent passion for writing that he had developed after his college days, leading to his first book. It Happens, along with other books that will come out in due course, will be a testament to his storytelling and creative skills. Karan has a beautiful family with two young boys, Aakash and Aayansh, and Aarti as his lovely life companion. He is a commerce graduate and a battle-hardened businessman. His other passions include both playing and watching cricket and football, as well as being an avid traveller. Loves cracking and listening to PJs
In three words, “Sometimes It Happens” is bland, boring and one-dimensional even with the message this book carries. The story is about Gautam, a 25-yr. old banker who is in love with Roshni and wants to marry her, the only problem is that Roshni is 12 years older to Gautam and therefore they don’t make an ideal pair or so everybody around Gautam and Roshni including their respective best-friends and Gautam parents thinks. The question is will they overcome the prejudices made by society and write their happily ever after or will they let go of each other?
This book carries a very relevant message and i.e. age is just a number and that it doesn’t matter if your partner is younger or older to you by several years, what matters is whether that person is the “right one” for you or not and whether he/she will love and support you unconditionally or not. My problem with this book is that most of the problems happening between Gautam and Roshni is not even age related, its lack of communication related. Hear me out! Gautam is all set to propose Roshni and he seeks advice from his best friend Rohit, who is obviously apprehensive of the age-difference and makes some valid points against Gautam and Roshni’s marriage, which confuses Gautam, so what does he do? He runs away to Singapore without even working things out with Roshni. Like I can’t even roll my eyes hard enough? He just presumes that because he is moving abroad his relationship with Roshni is done, they don’t even try to talk and work things out. Dude, if you are confused, don’t propose but at least talk to your girlfriend that you need time and space to think. How difficult is that? It just shows how immature Gautam really is and it doesn’t garner any sympathy towards him from my side because honestly, his problems are not “Prejudices of society” related, his problems exist because he isn’t man enough to own them and work things out.
Moving on to the next “Lack of communication” related problem, and this happens from Roshni’s side. They are all set to tie the knot and Roshni has a hard time keeping up with Gautam what with work and late-night partying, she is extremely exhausted so she thinks to herself “Maybe because I am old, it’s difficult to keep up with Gautam’s energy”. Again, can’t even roll my eyes hard enough because seriously? And will you people just stop thinking things to yourself and start talking to each other? All you need to do is sit, talk about your limitations and reach a middle ground. How difficult is that? That brings me to the disastrous Sunday of theirs. Honestly, every single thing that happened that day was again because of lack of communication and not because one person is older than the other. In fact, their “Sunday disaster” as I like to call it, is something which almost every couple goes through and it’s not “age related”. When two people are in a relationship it isn’t necessary that may share the same interest and hobbies, they can like different things and simply co-exist, what’s important is that they find a way to make things work, again you simply need to sit and talk, which the hero and heroine of this novel are incapable of doing. All they do is, presume things, make decisions without discussing with each other and then they blame the society for everything that is wrong in their lives. Which is kind of laughable because the so called “what will the society say” doesn’t even happen until the very last chapter of the book. Honestly, Gautam and Roshni faced hardly any obstacle in their relationship except maybe that of their own making, even with their doubts almost everyone important to them were extremely supportive of their relationship and it took only like two pages for Gautam’s parents to be convinced. Which is hardly the same thing many people will say about their parents. Naturally, I didn’t feel or care about Gautam or Roshni and I couldn’t care less about what happened to them. Also, the ending was pretty cliché and filmy.
Also, you can’t just stereotype people’s interests and what they like and what they don’t based on their age. It isn’t necessary that all the people who are in their twenties like to party or go clubbing and everyone who is in their later thirties likes the quite of their home. If Gautam doesn’t like to visit art galleries, it is probably because he isn’t interested in art and that’s not going to change after say 10 years down the line. I am in my late twenties and I would any day prefer to stay back at home and read or watch TV rather than go clubbing or partying, that’s just me, I was the same 5 years ago and it will be the same for me even after 10 years. ITS NOT AN AGE-RELATED THING, IT’S JUST WHO A PERSON REALLY IS? AND WHERE DOES HIS OR HER INTERESTS LIE. Sure, you can adapt and work around a few things over time but you can’t change the person you fundamentally are. And the amount of “stereotyping” this story does is the most problematic element of this book, never mind the insipid writing and extremely uninteresting main characters. The only remotely interesting character in this book was honestly, Rohit, he is cool, fun and he has a few awesome lines, which made me laugh. Alas! he is not present in the story more.
The last thing, I would like to add here is that this book needs an editor and a proof reader. I never nit-pick on grammatical and punctuation errors in books but the amount of errors I picked up in this book gave me a headache like literally, there are so many punctuation errors in almost every single page. I picked up so many wrong sentence structure and lines which ended abruptly. Almost every single noun starts with a small letter and that’s a crime. I would like to add here that I read an e-book version bought from Amazon so I am not aware if the same can be said about the paperback version but the e-book is a disaster. Overall, this book did not work out for me, the idea was good, but at the end the story isn’t much different from so many other and similar love stories in the market. They meet, fall in love, stupid and unrealistic misunderstandings happen, they can’t live without each other so they make up and they live happily ever-after. It would still be entertaining if the writing was any good but well… you can pick this up if you are looking for something light and fluffy to read.
P.S- I was provided with the review copy of this book, in exchange for my honest opinions and that is what this review is about, it’s my HONEST OPINION and in no way a personal attack on the author.
Sometimes it Happens by Karan Sharma is a fiction work and falls under romance genre.
About the story:
The story whirls around protagonist Gautam, a 25-year-old chap falls in love with Roshni, a Senior Management member who works in an MNC. Roshni is elder to Gautam and they have an age difference of 12 years, yet his love towards her was so magical that the age difference was not a hurdle to him. But for Roshni it’s always a burden to take forward the relationship, yet she loved him whole heartedly. With lot of twist and turns their engagement was finally fixed crossing those hurdles. But some unexpected thing happened which turned down the entire scenario. What happens next? Will they succeed marrying each other? Else fate has some other role for them? Will society be a hurdle for their marriage? Lies the suspense of the story.
About the book:
The plot of the story is so practical as we can judge with the current Society having marriages with age difference. But the societal barrier is one such thing that always come in between even if two hearts likely to move forward. But society never fails to point out things when it goes out of line even though, they (society) have so many problems on their own. Love is blind is one true saying and age is not a barrier for it. Gautam’s love towards Roshni was sturdy, yet external factors had influence to splinter it. I liked about the humor thing described, especially when Gautam proposes a 60 years old woman. For a moment I thought she was the one he meant to love in this story but thank God it was not so. Full of love, emotions, anger, friendship and relationship blended together formed this beautiful story and appreciate the authors effort to do so. This book is a short bite with a pragmatic storyline and the language kept simple. The pacing of the story is precise and intact. The characters were placed appropriately without fading over a period. Overall it was a nice read and I would recommend to readers who are fan of romance genre. My ratings are 3.5/5 for this vivid book.
Roshni is thirty seven, an independent and highly successful woman working in a global bank at a senior position. A chance interaction during a project work and later in a restaurant brings her close to her junior at work, Gautam who is a twenty five year old young, charming, talented and promising guy. The attraction is mutual as they both hit it off from their first day of interaction. Three months of supposed dating and Gautam is ready to propose to Roshni for marriage as he feels he never the same with anyone else until he came across Roshni.
As Gautam starts discussing his plans with his close buddy and colleague Rohit, Rohit puts across supposed issues this relationship might face in future owing to the twelve long years of age gap between Gautam and Roshni. Rohit’s words shake up Gautam to an extent that he starts rethinking about his decision and his own love for Roshni. Does Gautam’s love for Roshni stand the test of time or does the initial attraction fade out due to the glaring differences in their tastes as per their age forms the rest of the story.
The basic premise of exploring love story between two individuals with a huge age gap with the woman being the elder one in a patriarchal society which shies away from such relationships is a good one to start with. The opinions of the protagonist's close friends and family only further mirrors popular opinion about such relationships which are viewed as centered around power, money and lust and not around pure love. The book explores a lot of such pertinent opinions and taboos that are deep rooted around and generally end up spoiling strong relationships.
However, the narration falls flat with each conflict and each sequence ending in a known fashion. The cliched treatment brings down the otherwise fresh concept. However, the narration falls flat with each conflict and each sequence ending in a known fashion. The cliched treatment brings down the otherwise good concept. Pick this one to read a fresh take on love stories and how a not-so-conventional relationship can survive.
Sometimes It Happens told a tale of a romance between two people with an age gap of twelve years.
The storyline was pretty simple and predictable, but the characters definitely managed to spice it up, especially Rohit. He was the perfect example of the annoying best friend and played an important role in lighting up the story.
The story was akin to a Bollywood movie, and it shared many qualities of a Bollywood movie too, including the flaw that such movies are always unable to resist. The way how things just happen all of a sudden. Once chapter ends with the guy walking with a girl in a different country, next chapter begins with him back in India proposing another girl. And I'm like: WHAT?! And that wasn't the only instance. I'm not saying that the author should've written ever moment down, but he should've at least shown the character contemplating his moves, rather than just doing it out of the blue.
Other than that, though, Sometimes It Happens was a sweet, fun filled read and I enjoyed reading it!
Sometimes It Happens is the love story of a younger man and an older woman.
Gautam, the 25 yrs old protagonist, is convinced he is in love. His love interest being, Roshni, an independent and established single woman who is seemingly the perfect lady anyone can find. Her beauty and quiet charm thoroughly enchants Gautam, so much so that he is prepared to propose marriage after only a few months of dating. Their only problem - a large age difference with Roshni being 12 years older than Gautam.
Now, some would say it’s not a problem at all these days and even cite the example of Priyanka and Nick Jonas, or even other celebrities who have done so, or even say that, with the present chant of men and women being equal, society should have no problem with an older woman and younger man when the very opposite of it is allowed and even encouraged. Still, the concept of an older “woman” dating or marrying a man younger than her is generally perceived as unsettling if not directly problematic.
This book tries to bring up all the major issues and stigma attached to such a relationship. Through their friends and family, the issues of compatibility, different life styles and expectations and even the topic of family planning is dealt with here.
Right off the bat, Gautam’s best friend, Rohit, brings up several of the problems and disadvantages of such a match when he comes to know of the relationship. This provokes the erstwhile enthusiastic Gautam to consider his relationship from the perspective of age bias, doubts quickly douse his ardour and he finds himself trying to run in the opposite direction.
However, escaping true love is seldom that easy, is it? And when he realises his true wish, he has to make a choice and stick with it until the end (which he does, and wonderfully too).
I believe this is a good book to spend a nice weekend with. It’s a feel good story despite having a linear plot (I mean the synopsis pretty much lays out all its cards on the table) discussing little else but the age issue in these two individuals’ love story. Even so the main characters are likeable and the writing flows smoothly with snippets of humour here and there to keep the pace interesting. Its only drawback is that there’s little to no surprise, there’s no side story, and except for Rohit, all the other minor characters are rather unremarkable. Simplicity does suit certain stories, but a little spice may have added more shades and layers to this one.
My sincere thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.
Sometimes it happens. ~ Thank you for sending the review copy @thekaran_sharma. ~ Age has always been a touchy topic when it comes to relationships and marriages. We see a younger girl dating an older man or the other way around and society starts whispering about their choices. Sometimes it happens is about one such love story that blossoms between a 25 year old guy and a 37 year old woman. ~ When Gautam starts dating Roshni, who is her senior at work, little did he know that he'd end up falling in love with her. Roshni, an independent and fierce woman who never married for being too focused on career, finally finds her dream guy in Gautam. The first few months of their relationship is blissful as they soak in all the love and spend hours over calls. Four months into the relationship, Gautam decides to take the plunge and ask Roshni to marry him. But when he breaks the news to his best friend and also to his sister, their opinions leave him astounded. ~ What follows next is Gautam and then Roshni's skeptical thinking about their future. As they ponder upon whether their marriage will work considering the huge age gap, they finally decide to tie the knot. Love trumps over everything but will Roshni be able to keep up with Gautam's youthfulness? Or will her age creep in and mess up their compatibility? Read the book to know if they'll actually make it to the end of the race. ~ I'd have to say that the concept did intrigue me quite a bit. But there were serious flaws in the story. Firstly, I wasn't too fond of couple of characters, one of them being Rohit, who was Gautam's friend. He was too cocky and arrogant to say the least. The plot was very simple and I already knew how the story would end by just reading few chapters. There wasn't any solid factor that seemed to bring the story together. I was hoping to see some plot twist but couldn't find any till the very end. All this turned the story into a very plain and simple read. Nevertheless, it will make a good beginner's read who are into romance genre. I'd like to applaud the author for his flair in writing. ~ Rating - 2 / 5.
Sometimes it happens by Karan Sharma is a beautiful love story which carries a social issue faced by many couples out there. The story is all about a couple with vast age difference who fall in love, test their relationship, and decide their future. The Writing style is very simple and easy. The story flows in a easy manner. It's a sweet and simple love story but the main concept which is all about marrying an older woman makes this story different as well as strong. The Characters are simple and fine. It also contains some sweet relationship goals that everyone should follow for a better life. It's a slow and light kind of read. Overall, it's a good book and I really enjoyed reading this book. I would like to recommend this book to beginners, romance readers who want to read love story related with social issues and occasional readers who want to try something light and different.
This is a story of Gautam and Roshni and their unconditional love for each other. Gautam, a smart young graduate starts working in an MNC and finds himself being drawn towards Roshni, a senior management executive. Roshni is 12 yrs his elder and like any other love story it has its ups and downs. Do they end up together or they succumb to the ways of the society..you need to read to find out. The story is simple and the narration is like that of a motion picture. The author has done a great job is describing all the situations, emotions and scenes. The story starts with a detailed description of a minor character but then takes a turn and moves to our hero.
Book Name: Sometimes It Happens Author: Karan Sharma Genre: Romance Publisher: Srishti Publishers . Plot: Gautam is a twenty-five-year-old upcoming professional and Roshni, a senior management member working in the same multinational bank. More than a decade apart in age, they cannot help but feel attracted towards each other. However, can two people with such a vast age difference be compatible? Sometimes It Happens explores the fun and turmoil as they fall in love, get laughed at by their friends and then develop cold feet, thinking about the repercussions their age difference could have on their relationship. . My Opinion: This is a recent release & definitely wanted to give it a try because it has an amazing blurb. It's a big issue when a couple has a massive age difference, hence, my mind had alot of questions & to sort them I picked this up. I must say the storyline line is though common but it has been presented in a uncommon way. There is a vast variety of various emotions blended amazingly with the plot. Characterisation was well built. Talking about the protagonist characters they felt realistic because there was not exaggeration of emotions & over drama. The cover looks amazing but definitely it could be more better. I do recommend this one to everyone including beginners. . Pros: The language was easy, no twists & no lifts! This made the book a very easy read, so even if you are a non english person you can give it a try. Storyline was presented beautifully, characters & emotions were the heart of the story. Anyone can easily connect because the characters were relevant to day to days life. Cons: I caught some phrases which were repeated! Expected more unpredictable plot. . Rating: 4🌟
Put your heart into all your relationships, not logic. The world will be a better place to live in. ❤ Quote from the book Sometimes It Happens by author @thekaran_sharma , published by @srishtipub ❤ We always strive to find that perfect partner in our life who is going to be our soulmate , the absolute one. Since the time we understand the feeling of love we are in a quest to fulfill this emotion with our absolute person and sometimes or not people do go those extra miles to find that person. ❤ This book explores exactly this feeling but as fate has it , there is also a twist in the path of true love. Gautam & Roshni are attracted to each other on an intimate level. As opposed to the general consensus here Roshni ,the female lead is quite senior , age wise as well as designation wise. Bearing all the obstacles of society, some self doubt , some ego problems and some loving concerns as two people in love with each other face , our romantic pair embarks on a journey to find the ultimate goal. Do they succeed ?!! What is the reaction of the well wishers ?! And how far along they fair ?! All these questions are further answered in the book. ❤ I absolutely adored the concept the author has picked up here and the way he has presented it in a very subtle but impactful way. The writing is simple and easy to relate to. The touch of Bollywood masala also adds to the entire plot line. All in all , an easy , romantic and quite the climatic book for anybody looking out for not the usual romance novels.
'Sometimes It happens' is a reboot version of 'It happens' which released in 2017. With the brand new title and the cover and with the slight changes in the placing of the words Sometimes it Happens tell us a story about the protagonist Gautham, a twenty five year old man falling for a thirty seven year old woman. And his confusion about the equation of marrying an older woman whom he loves unconditionally.
The story starts with the perfect winter's day in Mumbai, later taking us to a drive to the Lives of the people in the story. The author doesn't waste time in introducing the characters or building a connection to the story with the readers. Karan Sharma has written a book in a very simple day-to-day language. The chapters are crisp and shorter, the plain sailing narrative with an Interesting Socio-Drama plot the readers clinched to the book.
A younger man can’t marry an older woman in India? Especially in the Hindu Traditional Family? I grew up listening to stories from my grandparents, to be more precise Gita and Ramayana. Lord Rama was younger to Sita! There are many such examples, which proves its the Love which matters at the end not the age differences. And this book explores such situation and send the message to the readers.
Rohit was a true humdinger. His encounters with his boss, while advising his best friend about the after marriage scenarios. His characterization is strong, even though he is not throughout the story. But he does his bff duties perfectly.
Payal is the perfect girl in all aspects. But the writer would have dealt with her character even interesting.
Roshini character shines in the story, it is well described. Roshini is Calm and composed, she is wounded yet she is strong.
Sonal and Rohit intensions are same, but the author has represented it in a witty way. He scores good at this point.
Everything looks easier in the plot, there’s no big hurdle be it with the parents or be it with the girl whom he decides to see the future with. Agree his sister Richa is supportive and caring. Every brother deserves a sister like her. But felt like it was an offbeat. The plot went a little off pace towards the end.
Overall, Sometimes it happens is an enjoyable read which can be finished in one sit reading. The author doesn't waste time on anything and gets to the point, so there's no unwanted or unnecessary cheesy lines which just make the book bigger. If you're looking for something light and if Non-College Romance is in your mind, then this book will serve you the exact thing that you are looking for. I rate this book 3.25 out of 5 stars!
BLURB What happens when two adults with a vast age difference fall in love? Gautam is a twenty-five-year-old upcoming professional and Roshni a senior management member working in the same multinational bank. More than a decade apart in age, they cannot help but feel attracted to each other. However, can two people with such a vast age difference be compatible? PLOT The story is about Gautam who happens to be attracted to Roshni; his team manager. Gautam is impressed by Roshni's professionalism and the way she manages her job. Despite the fact that Roshni is 12 years elder than him; Gautam falls for her gradually. Within some months of dating Gautam decides to propose to her but before that, he talks about this decision to his best friend Rohit and his sister Richa. Read and find out if Gautam gets the support of his family and friend in a decision which is not really encouraged in India.
REVIEW The blurb of the book really intrigued me; knowing the fact that this book is about a love story but with a different concept and I was quite excited to be reading such a plot. When I started reading it I did enjoy it but somehow when I was proceeding with this book I lost interest in it because of the fact that the plot became predictable and very simple. I was expecting a lot of drama with the plot but it turned out to be very mainstream. Had there been more twists in the plots and if the narration would have been impactful to have connected to the readers on an emotional ground - the plot would have been really beautiful. Coming to the review of the character I guess I really liked Richa's character- her picture of a considerate yet caring sister stands very praiseworthy in the book. Rohit's character got a bit annoying for me in the beginning because of his unsupporting nature but then I felt it was necessary to be as such for the story to proceed. So in totality characters of the book fit just perfect to the plot. The language is lucid and the book, therefore, is a light read. If you are someone who likes to read romance as a genre; do give this book a read.
Gautam is head over heels in love with Roshni. Both of them are adults consenting to their relationship. But there is one thing that brings hassles into their path of uniting. And that is the frowned upon 'age gap.' Roshni is 37 while Gautam is just 25. Would they be able to survive the uncertainties and their respective insecurities? That is the primary question here.
Sometimes it Happens turned out to be a breezy read for me. I managed to finish it in a couple of yours. The language is fine and expressions are good. The writing style seemed crisp in the beginning but I found it loosening up towards the end. The plotline is a bit too cliche and dramatic but what attracts attention is its central theme. It is this theme that piques your interest.
Can love thrive when there is a vast age difference between a girl and a boy especially when the boy is younger? Our society is besotted with conventional thoughts lingering around love. According to the norms, a vast age difference could introduce many problems in a relationship. These may eventually lend to the breaking off of the relationship. They have their own set of reasons for the same which are represented by the friends of Gautam and Roshni - Sonal and Rohit. They try to dissuade their peers with their logic and love loses its ground for some time. But it does come again stronger. through the setting built around the protagonists, the author attempts to bring to the light the tension which crops in a relationship. And that theme comes out nicely is worth mentioning.
However, the narrative lost its charm in the climax. The story started off well but after somewhere in the middle, it turned out to be monotonous drama for me. The whole scenario of Gautam running away from his problem, him realizing his love for Roshni, the wedding scene, this all sounded filmy. I wish the story could have been designed and executed in a better way.
In a nutshell, the book is fine for a one-time read and would be a good pick for the lovers of light romance.
This not a mere Love story but holds a Very crucial issue of today's generation which our society doesn't accepts and that is The age long gap in a relationship. This is the Story of two different individuals who worked at a same place, starts spending time with each other and eventually fall in love with one another. The protagonist here in this story is Gautam 25 year young man who is working in a multinational bank and who fall in Love deeply with Roshni who is a 37 year old independent woman, a senior management member at the same bank.
As days passed their love for each other grows with time but the only issue arising between them is their age long gap which is unacceptable by the society. Due to the differences in age their thoughts and habits are also very different from one another. And these made a barrier in their relationship and also turned it to fight between them. They wanted to get married in spite of every odd reason. Their respective best friends, family members have also suggested to rethink about the matter and their develops a confusion between them which separated them for a while but they soon realises their love for each other and rejoice together again.
It's a story of two respective individuals who are very different from each other and their contains a huge gap of age between them which made their journey much more challenging and difficult but how they sticked together by loving and caring for each other and without giving a damn to the society's thoughts and norms. It's a successful journey of two lovers from different decade of age. I have finished it within two sittings only and enjoyed reading it and will surely recommend to every Reader of this generation.
A beautifully written short read, perfect for a weekend pick or a sweet travel companion
The book starts with Gautam proposing to a 40 year old receptionist in his office and ending up making a total fool of himself, why he does this any guesses? He is trying to do a test run as he is ready to propose to his lady love, but there is just slight problem to that. He has not mentioned about this to anyone, not even his best friend and colleague Rohit who saves his face from this embarrassment as well.
When he tells Rohit that he wants to propose Roshni for marriage , his friend is baffled, as Roshni is 37 years old as compared to Gautam who is 25. The 12 year age difference is too huge . He discusses all the problems Gautam will face to such details, that it is enough to put serious doubts in Gautam’s mind and he picks up the easy route. Taking an overseas opportunity and flies to Singapore.
Roshni’s friend Sonal has similar apprehension given the obvious blunder. But will this union survive the test of a number 12 in comparison to the love they feel for each other? Grab a copy to know more
One character that especially caught my attention and appreciation was Richa and her smart and simple way in explaining this complex relation to her parents on behalf of her younger brother.
♥️ Fast paced fun read ♥️the story line is well thought and simply written ♥️ love the characters of Mrs and Mr Batra , and their maturity levels ♥️ the beautiful date in Singapore gave me total bucketlist goals

Every Romance story has a guy and a girl falling in love and then conquering every obstacle in their journey to eventually marry each other. Even this book had the same concept but the girl and boy had a vast age gap, which is considered as a sin in Indian society when it comes to marriage between them.
The story follows the journey of Gautam, a 25 year old who fell in love with Roshni, who was much older to him. They both were colleagues and often went for lunch or coffee and eventually their love blossomed. Gautam was all set to propose Roshni for marriage, but his best friend Rohit confused him and made him imagine the problems he would face in near future if he married Roshni.
Convinced with Rohit's logic, Gautam started distancing himself from Roshni and focused more on his career. He went to Singapore in order to avoid Roshni. But he still used to miss her and thought of going back to her. But the problem of age gap between them always stopped him.
Will the love be able to conquer the age gap? Will Gautam and his family be able to accept Roshni despite society's judgement ?
The story is not a unique one but still I liked reading it, since it's a small and quick read. I liked the concept of marriage between couples having huge age gaps- it shows that Indian society is progressing each day. The characters were well built. The narration was smooth and the book is fast paced. The language used by the author is easy and understandable . The book is a short and a quick read and would not bore you.
2019 : 25 . 🍁 . Sometimes It Happens Karan Sharma Srishti Publishers 2019. Pp- 154.
This is a story of romance between a 25 year old Gautam and his senior management member, Roshni, more than a decade decade apart in age. Theirs is a warm, yet rough journey. Read on to know more about their little love adventure. . . The author has tried to throw light on of the commonly experienced yet collectively ignored issue. Love doesn't have an age, and neither does it have any rules to be followed. The social stigma around love and huge age difference is real, and needs to be acknowledged. Any of us can be Gautam and Roshni.
Although the author brings it to our attention in a light way, it's serious and important. The language is pretty easy, and overall, the book is a quick read.
I appreciate the author's intention, and his efforts. The idea is interesting, but the storyline could have been better, and the narration more gripping. It is a decent book for beginners, not cheesy but sweet. If you're looking for something light, this is the book for you. Let's talk about cover first. Cover is simple. At first it feels like boy and girl looking forward for future. It can be made little bit more attractive. Story is more than just the cover.
The book talk about the topic of current generation. Where men/women fall in love with older age people. Our protagonist gautam is 25 years old is working in multinational bank. Roshni good looking, 37 years old senior manager.
They both become friend. Starts spending time with each other enjoy each other's company and fall in love. The problem is will their love get accepted by society ?
Both of them have so many doubt regrading relationship, society , age factor. Instead of supporting them their friends make them to see negative point of relationship. The biggest trouble is will family accept their relationship.? After some time Gautam moves to Singapore for business meeting. Soon in month he realized that's something is not right. He came back to Bombay. What Happened in Singapore?
The characters are well developed and described. The plot is really good and fast paced. This topic more important in current generation. The language is simply and lucid. A simple and light read. The only thing made me little bit disappoint is very less twist. Overall it's light and simple read
The preconceived notion from our society in our mind that romantic love sustains only between similar aged or between a older male and a younger female is best is challenged by this story.
A youth in his early twenties falls in love with a woman with whom he maintains a age gap of a decade.
The unconventional romantic relationship grows in to a beautiful heart warming connection between the two people but goes through the mockings passed by their own loved ones , the turmoils of balancing out the generation difference and usual relationship challenges.
Should we listen to our hearts defying all societal laws and define our own destiny or couples should use their minds more and not involve in such relationships that carry a risk of failure for many reasons ?
This story has twists and turns to keep you engaged. What happens in the end ? What decision they take ?
It is a beautiful story crafted out with thoughtful plot having careful character development.I liked the personality of Roshni , and how strong independent minded she is.Additionally the lucid language with nicely described background blending the emotions at appropriate moments has added beauty to its breezy fast paced narration.
The cover could have been better with some more thoughtful creativity but the vivid hues yet subtle with eye soothing colours make it still so beautiful and pretty.
The storyline of the book is about two people in love yet stuck in a turmoil. Their age acts as a barrier between them. Gautam, a twenty-five year old upcoming professional and Roshni, a senior management member working in the same multinational bank. She's thirty-seven, unmarried, undivorced. But Roshni has never looked like a thirty seven year old which lead Gautam to fall for her at the first place they met. She refuses his proposal of marriage. The beginning of the story revolves around people trying to make Gautam understand the difference between their ages and its consequences in future. He was reluctant to learn the facts or problems for them in future. But with his friend, Rohit's consultation and questions about their near future together made seconds thoughts inside Gautam's mind. Yet they both felt attracted towards each other. The book had a great pace and I loved that about it. I could finish the book in one sitting, it didn't feel unnecessary or dragged. The story was fascinating from the beginning which moved forward smoothly. The things that amazed me were the substance and the effort that the author put towards shaping the plot. The author captured one of the true aspects of life that is love matures with time. It was a fun and quirky romance that will certainly appeal to readers who love that particular genre.
Gautam is a handsome twenty five year old working in a multinational bank. He finds himself drawn to Roshni, one of his seniors working in the same bank. Gautam and Roshni meet several times and find themselves attracted to each other. There is only one problem: Roshni is considerably older than Gautam, in fact she is twelve years older than him. Definitely both Gautam and Roshni have doubts about their relationship and whether it will last the course of time. Both of their friends try to make them see the negative aspects of their romance. How will Gautam’s family react when they find out about their age difference? Will their love story have a happy ending? Will their love overcome all the practical difficulties their relationship is bound to face? The reader will have to read the book to find that out. The author has chosen an unusual but extremely relevant topic for today’s times as such type of May-December relationships are taking place more frequently than before. Sometimes It Happens is recommended as a modern and unusual love story that will appeal to lovers of romance novels.
"Sometimes It Happens" by Karan Sharma is an epic love story of a twenty-five year old corporate boy Gautam and his senior employ Roshini. Bounded by the age gap of 12 years and societal norms they fall for each other.
Do their love get acceptance? Do they end up getting married? or Do they get apart? This book with a simple and naive cover holds lots of surprises.
Narration and Characterization- Narration is simple with easy read. Limited characters made the book pretty facile.
The book deals with the different scenarios and hindrances the couple faced due to their age gap. The author has portrait a unique and a much needed plot exquisitely.
The descriptive details of Rohit(Gautam's freind) at the beginning of the story made me assume that Rohit himself is the protoganist but later read gave the surprises. To me it felt like a pure bollywood movie with a different and a good plot.
I liked the concept and the treatment of the subject. Though this concept was explored in Hindi films yet it wasn't introduced in novels as of now. Karan Sharma handles the issue with much aplomb. He speaks for all those couples who have had to face the same issue. I have seen such couples being a target at family gatherings and social events even if they are happily married. They are persistently being called out for their age difference and if not for that then the intention behind getting married. "Was the marriage rushed?" "Was the boy behind the girl's wealth?" I have heard these things often. But clearly one doesn't see love that's what brings two souls together. This book is a voice of all those couples who have been shamed because of age. Love goes beyond age!

This is a tale of 25 year old Gautam working for an MNC Bank who falls in love with his senior and one time boss Roshni. The story is build well along the plot and talks about a variety social stigmas associated with this fact and how it affects one's decisions.
All the characters are built very well specially the character of Richa, Gautams sister. The author has really got into the story and described each and every aspect in detail including the nature of each character, the restaurant they went for first date, the speciality dishes that they tried. All this facts surely give a personal touch to the story.
The climax seemed a bit dragged and gives you a feel of typical Bollywood movie. All in all a light and entertaining weekend read.
The cover of the book is of a light romantic read. But the theme of the book has much more than the cover. So, yes cover could have been better. The title is ok. But the message given by the story is very good. The author has chosen a really relevant topic of our time. Language is easy and can be easily understood. The characters are good and author has done justice to them. The book kept me hooked. The book is not a long book. Infact you can easily finish in one sitting. The writing style of the author is very good and I would really like to read more of his works in future. Recommended : Yes. Rating : 🌟🌟🌟.8 /5

So the story revolves around ghautam who is 25 years old and how he falls in love with roshini who is older than him so now the topic of this book is about current generation where people fall in love with older people but mostly society doesn't accept it right? The same happens with ghautam even his friends discourage him. I liked the writing style of this book as it is quite fast faced and simple also the book cover looks good. The character development was done well. I think this book may be a good read for u if u r into light one time reads 😊
. ||A book that wasn't, I expected it to be. The cover and title can convince anyone that it is in between YA fiction and Bollywood romance. Yet it is totally different and have a dark mood. This is the story of unsettling, bitter truth of love. The female protagonist of the story is 12 years older than the male protagonist and end up falling in love. The whole plot has depicted the different perspectives and situations one would be forced to face. I'm glad that it is different than the normal story but the cover and title isn't apt with the plot. It is a short read of 155 pages.||

Summary -: 'Sometimes It Happens' showcase us the story of 2 people, Gautam who's 25 years old & Roshini who's 37 years old. They both work at the same multinational bank. They've been working together for 3 months & they've became best friends. Soon Gautam realize his feelings for Roshini and then fall in love and decided to turn their love in Marriage. But the main problem was their age gap & the society. How they both are going to face the problems which are going to come?
Review -: The Book is a perfect love story. As we can many ups & downs in it. And it also shares the reality of the society. The problem discussed in the book is very genuine, that how our society don't allow us to love that person that we want to if we don't share the common attributes. The love between Gautam & Roshini was true. Gautam was ready to face anything for her.
Things I Liked In the book -: 1. The writing & story telling style of the author was simple & easy to read and understand. 2. The best thing about this book is it's strong story, which shows the dark reality of our society. How we can't love someone if we don't have same age, same colour, same religion, same caste. 3. The relationship of Roshini & Gautam. You'll found yourself connected to the their love story throughout the book. The characters are written & described in a perfect way.
Things I didn't like in the book -: 1. Sometimes you'll feel that author tried to elongate the story by adding some addition lines/quotes. 2. The book cover is not so much appealing and eye catching.
My rating - 4 🌟 I'll definitely recommend this book to each reader & non reader even who don't like to read can definitely fall in love with this book.
