The Fifth Dinosaur Lake The predator dinosaurs, amphibious, land-crawlers, air flyers, small and large, were dead; dead in all the forests, mountains, deserts, towns and cities of America and across the planet. They were still hunted, sought and exterminated when found, and these rogue beasts were becoming rarer every day. The humans’ dinosaur killing serum and extermination practices had worked far better than anyone had prayed and they had eventually freed the planet of its primordial scourge. The earth belonged to the humans once more and all its lands were safe–or so the world, Henry Shore, former Chief Park Ranger at Crater Lake National Park, and his wife, Ann, had believed…until one day years later two new dinosaurs, craftier than any the earth had ever seen, appeared. One of them was benevolent, a friend to mankind, and the other was not. It was blood-thirsty, eerily intelligent and unbelievably vengeful. This dinosaur wouldn’t be so easy to kill. ***There are now six Dinosaur Lake books.

About Kathryn Meyer Griffith 2023
Since childhood I’ve been an artist, and have worked as a graphic designer in the corporate world and for newspapers for twenty-three years before I quit to write full time. But I’d already begun writing novels at 21, over fifty-one years ago now, and have had thirty-five (romantic horror, horror novels, romantic SF horror, romantic suspense, romantic time travel, historical romance, thrillers, one non-fiction short story collection, dinosaur books, and murder mysteries) previous novels and thirteen short stories published from various traditional publishers since 1984. But I’ve gone into self-publishing in a big way since 2012; and upon getting all my previous books’ full rights back for the first time in 36 years, have self-published all of them. My seven Dinosaur Lake novels and Spookie Town Murder Mysteries (Scraps of Paper, All Things Slip Away, Ghosts Beneath Us, Witches Among Us, What Lies Beneath the Graves, All Those Who Came Before, When the Fireflies Returned, and Echoes of Other Times) are my best-sellers.
I was married to Russell for over forty-three years; have a son, two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. I live in a small quaint town in Illinois. I have a quirky cat, Sasha, and we live happily in an old house in the heart of town. Though I’ve been an artist, and a folk/classic rock singer in my youth with my late brother Jim, writing has always been my greatest passion, my butterfly stage, and I’ll probably write stories until the day I die…or until my memory goes.

Woo Hoo! It has been five years since the Dino Wars and I have spent any time with Henry and Ann. I am so glad to visit and catch up on what’s been happening…and will happen.

The dinosaurs, at least most of them, are gone. BUT, knowing Kathryn Meyer Griffith, the horror is yet to come. They had lived through some interesting times. They were prepared, if the dinosaurs returned. My question is…many of the characters I got involved with in the early books are gone, so who is left to kill off, Kathryn?

I love that Anne has a money making blog. Seems a natural progression from the newspaper she had worked for, owned, then sold. It seemed Kathryn didn’t think dinosaurs were bad enough, she had to give her cancer too. But she was in remission and they spent a lot of their time enjoying their golden years from the front porch of their cabin and traveling. She even got Henry to let her use some of his photographs from their adventures.

Their home is not their beloved cabin at Crater Lake, but they worked hard to make it into one they love.

Henry had retired, but he was still ‘the man’ as far as the Rangers were concerned. He knew everything there was to know about Crater Lake, so when Oscar came knocking on the window, he was notified…ASAP.

How smart are the dinosaurs? Can they think complex thoughts? Do they hold grudges? Do they want revenge?

Henry had a small edge over other humans. His visitor, Oscar. He likes and respects Henry. He also needs ‘the sticks’ to help him. There are no such things as unicorns, demons, or evil dinosaurs. But, in my world, there is.

Oscar stole the show! You can’t kill him off Kathryn. He’s a hero, risking it all for his special friend, Henry, and his progeny.

Excellent tension and pacing. The feeling of impending doom oozes from every page. I wait. I fear.

WOW, I didn’t see that coming and I love it. Book surprises are the best.

My biggest question, Kathryn…will there be more? I love that some of the characters refuse to die, refuse to go away, haunting your dreams, demanding more. Is there more of the story to be told?

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Dinosaur Lake V by Kathryn Meyer Griffith.

It’s been a long time since the dinosaurs ran amok. Only an occasional sighting, and they’re dispatched quickly. But when the mysterious little dinosaur shows up, retired Chief Park Ranger, Henry Shore , knows something is happening again. So he joins forces to face another deadly threat.

Once again, Kathryn drops you into the action quickly as the team hunts for a dinosaur. The hunt doesn’t last long as the dinosaur finds them. Henry is injured and laid up, hoping this is the last of them. But then the little dinosaur, a mystery, as it seems to show up to warn them rather to cause harm, returns, more frantic than ever. And I knew, as did Henry, that the fight wasn’t over.

I was very curious about the little dinosaur before. Just what was he? Where did he come from? What was his purpose? I got those answers and they caught me by surprise. Didn’t see the angle coming and it sent my mind racing, exploring what was and could be.

This was another fun read in the Dinosaur Lake series. It’s a faced pace race to the finish as humans go up against giant dinosaurs, some favorite characters return, and a new mystery is added to the mix. Leave it to Kathryn to keep me questioning what this series is really all about.

I received a complimentary copy. My review is voluntarily given.

I absolutely love this series. Oscar is by far by favorite character even if he isn't human. I still miss some of the characters killed off in previous books but I really enjoy the cast of characters left as well. I loved the alien twist, it made me giggle. Darn aliens always causing trouble! LOL! I hope there is more to come.

Book Five

I thought the series had ended and I am so glad it had not. This one should not be the last. In fact, it is a new beginning with Oscar's eggs hatching. Now there is an alien involvement. This can only get better. What is the tie in between the aliens and the dinosaurs? Are all the dinosaurs really gone now or is something else developing? Gotta be more to the story!!!! And no foul language. So cursing doesn't take away from the plot. I could not put this book down til it was done. Waiting on next installment. I have read all of the books in the dinosaur lake series and enjoyed every one. Just hoping story doesn't end here. Well done and worth the read.

Another total delight

So happy to see most of the characters I have fallen in love with back again, and Oscar is such a unique one with some views from his perspective. This series is my favorite and this round did not disappoint, quite well done with the reality of Henry's age playing a factor, and the smooth way we can see the changes in lives. Would love to see more about Oscar and the other interesting development...for years this series has held my attention and continues to do so.

Dinosaurs just won't bloody stay dead!

Henry completely caught by surprise with the reappearance of a mythical friend bringing a warning, and the dinosaur hunts resume. A super read full of twists, turns, and false starts which bring a retired Henry, his Park Rangers back into the nightmare of dinosaurs in the park. And this time, confronted by a creature so much more dangerous and malevolent! Great read, I recommend to all who love a truly great adventure story. I repeat; this series would make an awesome couple of movies!

Real thriller

I hope she puts out a 6th book. I for one would like to follow it more. Oscar's babies hatching, will he still visit Henry and Ann? Will he show them the babies? Are all the other dinosaur eggs destroyed? Will Oscar become, with his family, a new wildlife exhibit to the park?

I hope she does more. Must read

Never say extinct

I never thought I would ever enjoy a series about dinosaurs. But, each book in this fantastic series just keeps me reading on and on. The characters are brought to life and I have laughed and cried with them. I am so very impressed with all the details in this series. I am so grateful that this series continues and I am on to the next book.

I am so enjoying this series!

A good sequel to a fun and enjoyable series. Cannot wait to start the next book in the series. So different from most of the books I read. Great escape from reality.

If you like dinosaurs

Its nice to see the intelligence angle played up. It can be a trifle boring reading about how stupid they could be, when we have no real way of knowing.

Survivors

I enjoyed this book. I wanted to finally finish it, but didn’t want the story to end.
I hope to see this on the screen soon, maybe a Netflix/Prime series - just somewhere, with KMG @ the helm ensuring this wonderful story is done right.
I love these stories.
