Detective turned Private Investigator Tyrone Swift is hired by the brother of a man who was stabbed to death and his body mutilated. The police have reached a dead end in the search for the killer. Greg Roscoe was killed while sitting in the cockpit of his plane.
What Swift finds out is that not everyone liked Roscoe .. and that's putting it mildly. With two ex-wives and a current wife, one son who hasn't spoken to him in years and a many years long history of adultery means there are plenty of suspects... all of which seem to have secrets covered with lies.
They all wanted him dead .. but who wanted him dead the most?
Although 6th in this series, it does well as a stand-alone. I've read books 3, 4, and 5 and have come to expect an engaging murder mystery, solid characters, plenty of suspects to eyeball, and a satisfying story premise.
Swift is still recovering from his last case and his personal life is not as solid as he would like. I've enjoyed how his professional life is balanced with his personal life. He is a solidly written character and extremely credible.

Pilot Greg Roscoe has been stabbed to death in his cockpit. His body had been mutilated. Tyrone Swift has been hired by the pilots parents to investigate the death. Greg had a tangled personal life, with three wife's and a history of adultery and risk-taking. But who wanted Greg dead and why?
The story is told from Tyrone's point of view. Greg's mother had rose tinted specs when it came to her son, she could not see him for what he really was. The pace is well set as the mystery unfolds. We get bits of Tyrone's background in these novels and he's worrying about his daughters hearing. His girlfriend, Nora is not a very likeable character in my opinion. Although there are lots of characters in the book, but there not that many that you forget all about them. Although this book can be read as a standalone your always best (if you can) reading the series from the beginning. After all, you won't know what your missing out on. This is quite a good series.

Your Last Lie, the sixth book in the Private Investigator Tyrone Swift series, is a solid, interesting piece of crime fiction. Ms Mulrooney does a sterling job of keeping the perpetrator hidden for the majority of the book, and the linear, straightforward nature of the plot allows the reader to follow along easily making it thoroughly enjoyable. I'm a seasoned crime reader, reading up to 500 books per year, and even I didn't figure out what was going on. It's far from a unique premise, but it is well plotted and written, the pacing is spot on and we are gradually drip-fed information at the same time Tyrone receives it.
Ty himself is a very likeable character who works hard and is determined to discover the truth of the matter. We also learn all about his personal life as a sub-plot which contrasts well against the main storyline. As it's told from his perspective we learn more about him by the way he interprets happenings. Each book in this thrilling series can be read as a standalone, but, of course, you will not be privy to recurring characters growth and evolution if you jump in here. In my opinion, this is the best and most exciting of the series so far; I look forward to the seventh instalment.

This is book 6 in the Tyrone Swift series but the books work perfectly as stand alone.
A womanising pilot is found brutally murdered in his aeroplane. The suspects are many. Greg had spent his whole life riding roughshod over women and people. He is a selfish man with no regard for feelings of others. His mother, however, thinks he is an angel and employs Swift to search for his murderer as the police had failed.
Swift's character grows in this series his daughter's hearing problems and the difficult relationship with Nora mean he is walking on eggshells trying not to upset people. This case, however, is going to try him to the limit of his patience as everyone seems to have it in for him.
His girlfriend, Nora, I don't much like I think she is a bad fit for Swift she is too moody and her trust issues mean that Swift is forever monitoring what he tells her. I like her even less after reading this book.
The case is a difficult one. As a pilot the victim travelled the world and Swift finds himself having to think far and wide to find leads to follow. The complexity of the case makes for intriguing reading. Maybe it isn't as fast paced and adrenaline pumping as I would like but it has enough to hold the reader's attention and keep the pages turning.
There are many twists and turns along the reading journey and the uncovering of the murderer came as a real curve ball towards the end of the book.
A good read. I am pretty annoyed I didn't find out what happened to Havanna so I am hoping I don't have long to wait for the next book.

Ty is contacted by Niall Roscoe who asks him to look into the unsolved murder of his brother, Greg, a pilot who was found stabbed to death in the cockpit of one of his planes. As he investigates he uncovers the sordid details of Greg’s life and an exponential list of suspects.
I thoroughly enjoyed Your Last Lie which is a good mystery with a well concealed perpetrator and motive. The novel is told from Ty’s point of view so the reader lives the investigation with him, my favourite approach. I had plenty of guesses, all of them wrong so the novel held my attention throughout. The pacing is excellent with a gradual uncovering of details through conversations. It all makes sense and follows a logical progression. The plot doesn’t offer anything revolutionary or innovative but it’s well done and interesting.
I like Ty Swift who is a dogged investigator and decent human being without making a song and dance about it. It’s the small details like making sure a teenager gets home safely that appeal. Ms Mulrooney mixes his investigation with his personal life so the reader is fully invested in his worry about his daughter’s hearing problems and his problems with girlfriend Nora’s attitude (not sure I’d be so patient).

Tyrone “Ty” Swift is a thoroughly likable character. He is human and has his own problems, but with his background, he is perfect for ferreting out the answers to other people's problems.
When pilot Greg Roscoe is murdered inside the cockpit of his plane, the police investigating the crime reach a dead end. The case grows cold. Enter Greg's brother who hires Ty to search for the killer. Greg's mother thought he could do no wrong, so she is not much of a help to Ty's investigation. Greg was a “bad apple.” He was a womanizer, gambler, married three times and generally pretty nasty to everyone, unlike his likable brother. Greg had a son with whom he has lost contact and a teenage daughter. Could they have the answers? So there is a plethora of suspects. He also traveled all over the globe as an airline pilot so the search could be very widespread.
This is a very readable novel. Perhaps it is the best of the series so far. It is very well written and plotted in a linear fashion. One event follows another in a logical progression. Ms. Mulrooney kept the reader on the edge of his or her seat as she unveiled the killed in the denouement. It came as a surprise. As I stated before Ty is a likable character, complete with foibles of his own. I have read several of the Ty Swift novels, and look forward to reading the next in this series.

This is the sixth book with Tyrone Swift as a private investigator and I believe they just get better and better. He has the same girlfriend (Nora) who is far too self-absorbed to be his partner and he also has a daughter who is deaf.
Tyrone is called in when the police haven't managed to solve the murder of a pilot (Greg Roscoe), who was killed in his own cockpit. His mother cannot see any faults in her beloved son but, as Tye investigates, he finds more and more. The man was a serial adulterer, as well as having had three wives, he was an inveterate gambler and he had been involved in a few shady business deals. There seems to have been a long list of candidates who would have loved to have killed him off. Tyrone works his way through the clues and we are taken along for the ride.
Gretta Mulrooney has a very easy-to-read style and her characters are magnificent. I particularly enjoyed the 'bestie' friend of Greg's third wife, who comes across as a suffocating busy-body who was one of my prime candidates for the killer. I was wrong but I don't mind admitting it!
I would recommend all of Gretta Mulrooney's books to anyone who enjoys a murder mystery. It's a police thriller without the police so the reader becomes Tyrone's partner in the investigation. Five stars from me!

I found this book disappointing. The central character Tyrone Smith is well drawn, a man with many personal problems but open minded and fair in his investigations. The other characters I found two dimensional and exaggerated which made it hard to engage with them. Gretta Mulrooney did a good job of obscuring the perpetrators of the crime until the end I will admit, but I don't think I will be reading any more of this series.

Greg Roscoe's mother wants Tyrone Swift to find who murdered her "perfect" son. Her constantly ignoring the wrong that Greg did in his life, helped to raise him to be the liar who never took responsibility for the wrong he did. He lied to himself, as well as, everyone else. With the amount of people he hurt, it's only natural that one of them would come back at him and end his reign of brutality.
The list of suspects grows with each chapter. It seems the only one untouched by Greg's narcissistic personality is his mother. He has ex-wives, a current wife, children, acquaintances, and co-workers who have all been bitten by his lies and love of self.
Tyrone Swift is a strong character who leads a believable life. He's not the magic hero with everything sunshine perfect. His little daughter is hearing impaired and Ty is facing a difficult decision about a surgery for her. He has a girlfriend, Nora, who doesn't quite trust him and is not the easiest person to get along with. He does seem to truly care about her and perhaps they'll be able to work things out in another book.
Fitz Blackmore, the detective who had been on the case, was alerted to help Ty trap the murderer in the end. Blackmore was a prickly character who seemed full of himself and even decided he wouldn't call Ty by his name but would call him Ron. Ty is so easy going and comfortable with himself that he just let it go. Too bad Blackmore wasn't the same.
Greg's daughter, Havana, is missing at the end of the story. I'm hoping she will be found unharmed in another book. She'd had a tough life. Her mom, Ashleigh, never really wanted her daughter Havana and let her know very clearly that she wasn't wanted.
The reporter Camilla Findley was everything I despise in reporters. She's definitely one of the bad ones who deals in slime news. I felt she got what she deserved at the end of the book.
Some people felt that Gretta Mulrooney gave too much information in setting the scenes. I was personally happy with her style of writing. I'm currently also reading "Remembrance Rock" by Carl Sandburg. That goes into minute detail on everything beyond Mulrooney's writing, so I have no problem with the detail that Gretta provides in her stories.

Whoops. Jumped into this not realizing it was a series until too late. Oh well. It fine as a standalone.
The story follows Swift who is asked to investigate the murder of this lowlife pilot named Greg Roscoe. He was brutally murdered. The problem is...so many people wanted him dead. He was a terrible, terrible man. I honestly didn't want the murderer to be found. Good riddance. BUT murder is murder, so Swift is on the case.
So...I want justice to win but there are some cases were I am secretly rooting for the murderer. Greg was a piece of poop! He was terrible. But murder IS wrong. I'm surprised the man lasted this long without being killed. I guessed who the murderer was pretty quickly. There were times I doubted myself...but I stuck to my guns and was right. BUT the full reasoning on WHY was a shocker for me.
I liked Swift, but he was the only one I did like. I felt bad for the daughter, but she really annoyed me too. But she has a crappy mom and had a crappy dad. So what do you expect?
The story was fine and I did enjoy it. There were some dragging moments in the middle that made me yawn. Not enough action or suspense. There was a couple lulls there. But the ending was good when the big reveal popped up.
Super happy that this was a good standalone. I didn't really feel like I was missing anything. Maybe some backstory about Swift, but overall the author did well to keep this as a book someone like me can pick up and not feel lost.
All-in-all, this was a fun read. The mystery was good even though I had guessed right. Just too obvious, but the reasons WHY shocked me. Some lulls there in the middle, but overall, it was a good one. I liked Swift even though I secretly didn't want him to find the murderer of that dirt-bag! I'll give this 3 stars.

Your Last Lie by Gretta Mulrooney is the sixth book in the Private Investigator Tyrone Swift series. I found it to be an interesting crime piece, even having never read Mulrooney’s previous books. What I found so interesting about Mulrooney’s writing is how she was able to keep the criminal hidden throughout the novel. I was eager to keep reading this book to figure out who was the perpetrator was. Because of its candid approach, I was able to follow the plot even having never read her other books, which many other crime novels have a hard time doing. There are enough plot twists to keep me on the edge of my seat and the journey of uncovering the murderer was a real curve ball.

This is one of those stories that technically stands alone, however there are so many mentions of things that have happened in prior books that it does make you wonder what else you missed out on.
As a first time reader to this series, I will say that the author does have an interesting writing style. This is both a good and a bad thing in this case, as they do tend to be very descriptive, oftentimes in my opinion, taking longer than necessary to describe every little thing down to the last detail. Sometimes this helped the reader feel as though they were a part of the story, but for me at least, more often than not I felt like it was overkill and in fact forgot where the story-line had been going before all of the unnecessary details.
When you get down to the ins and outs of this story, the person originally murdered wasn't very likable, which obviously opens the pool of suspects up considerably, but in this case, not only did it seem like (pardon the pun) overkill, but the sheer number of people became a bit hard to differentiate between. Also, when it came down to solving the actual murder? It wasn't really a surprise who did it.
Don't get me wrong, there are a few twists and surprises in this story, and I may give this author another chance down the road. This one didn't appeal to me on a big level, but it was a good way to pass the time and I do believe it will appeal to those who enjoy detailed whodunit novels.

As a first time reader to this series, I will say that the author does have an interesting writing style. This is both a good and a bad thing in this case, as they do tend to be very descriptive, oftentimes in my opinion, taking longer than necessary to describe every little thing down to the last detail. Sometimes this helped the reader feel as though they were a part of the story, but for me at least, more often than not I felt like it was overkill and in fact forgot where the story-line had been going before all of the unnecessary details.

Private Investigator Tyrone Swift is hired by the mother of a murdered pilot to find the killer of her beloved son, who in her eyes was perfect, and could do no wrong. Most others in his life would disagree with that notion; the man left behind three unhappy wives and probably many unhappy husbands and boyfriends. He was a serial adulterer, his daughter the only one besides the mother mourning him. The manner in which his body was posed suggests revenge.
I really love this series and this 6th outing is the best yet. Gretta Mulrooney is, to my mind, a superior author and she has created a very sympathetic character in Ty. The stories are told from his point of view, so you get to know the man and his thoughts. I find his worries about his little daughter 's hearing problems particularly poignant. Unfortunately I 'm not that fond of his girlfriend Nora, I wish she'd ease up on him! The large array of characters are easy to follow, not many are likeable, especially not the odious pilot, but that made it fun trying to guess who dunnit.
This book can be read as a standalone, but it's so much better knowing the backstory, so I think it's very well worth reading the whole series. The last sentence of the book added to my enthusiasm for the (hopefully) 7th in the series! Highly recommended!

This was my first Ty Swift book, and although it is the 6th in the series, it reads very well as a stand alone. Ty Swift is a former cop who is now a private investigator. He lives in London and has a complicated private life. He has an ex romantic partner with whom he shares a three year old hearing impaired daughter, he has a current girl friend who is jealous of his relationship with his child’s mother, as well as being jealous of other former lovers.
He’s been hired by the Roscoe family to discover who killed Greg Roscoe, former pilot, and flight instructor. The murder occurred about six months prior, but the police had not been able to solve the case. Greg’s mother, who adored him was beside herself with grief and wanted the case solved. Contrary to his mother’s beliefs, Greg Roscoe was not a nice guy. The more Ty probes into his background, the more he realizes many people have a motive. He’s was on his third wife, he was a serial womanizer, especially favoring young women, he gambled, he got into dodgy business endeavors., and forced himself on students, Many people had motives.
The characters are well drawn and the plot and pace good, I had plenty of hunches as to “who did it”, but I was not correct.

This series keeps getting better and this 6th offering doesn`t disappoint.
PI Tyrone Swift is called in to discover who killed one Greg Roscoe, a pilot found stabbed to death in the cockpit of his plane.
His mother may believe he was the best son in the world and incapable of doing any wrong but as Swifts investigations uncover more about Glen and his business and personal life this couldn`t be further from the truth.
The man was a serial adulterer, not someone many would have much sympathy for, but Swift won`t let that stop him solving his case.
A whole host of suspects are revealed for us to choose from.
Was it one of the ex wives, a disgruntled business associate or just any other person he seems to have rubbed up the wrong way.
An enjoyable read that kept me guessing, an easy recommend.

This is the sixth book in Gretta’s Tyrone Swift series, and the second one I have read after Low Lake. The books can be read as stand alone, although better enjoyed if read in order.
IN this book Tyrone is called in to investigate to unsolved murder of a pilot, found stabbed in his plane. This is made all the more complicated by the murdered man’s life, he is not a very nice man, using people to get what he wants and then dumping them afterwards, the list of suspects keeps growing.
Add on top of this Swift’s personal life, which seems extremely complicated, and you have a thrilling book, which kept me hooked throughout.
The book had enough twists in it to keep me guessing who the murderer was and the reveal came as a big surprise.
Overall this is yet another brilliant book from Gretta and I can ‘t wait to read the next in the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed "getting to know" Swift, the main character in this series. I felt that Mulrooney did a fabulous job of enabling me, the reader to get to know him in his personal and professional capacities.
The story line was intriguing, the writing style was full of excellent characters and I found it easy to follow along. So often when I read I am left trying to figure out why certain characters were introduced, but this was not the case with Your Last Lie. Each of them had a purpose and it made for a great read.

Despite what his mother thinks, Greg, who was found stabbed and mutilated in the cockpit of his plane (!) was not a nice person. You'd think that would be obvious given the up close and personal nature of the crime. Not. Ty Swift, hired to find out who done it finds a miasma of ex-es and business dealings and other stuff. Ty's an interesting man-a dogged investigator and loving dad are not contradictions in this case. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is well written and has some good twists.

My first Tyrone Swift book but won’t be my last! I like this character! The writing and pace of story was very good.
Our victim, Greg, was quite the character as well (for all the wrong reasons). The list of suspects due to his horrendous behavior was pretty long... He was no saint, though try telling that to his mother!
I liked that this took me for a nice ride. It didn’t give up things too quickly and it kept me interested the whole time. Good ending. I’ll be curious what Tyrone tackles next.

A book read almost in one sitting, I hooked into the story so gripping, addictive and full of suspense and twists. Can't wait to read the whole series.

Other who paid for answers and did not believe the things being said, He had raped many woman, and selling a product that poisoned many people.The families that were torn apart because of one man. A man was a god to his mother’s way of thinking. For him he thought he was a god to all women, the younger the more he was interested.

Tyrone Swift was retained to look into the ignominious death of Chief Flying Instructor, Greg Roscoe, who was found murdered at the cockpit of his favorite plane... for aside from being stabbed several times, the final humiliation was a note pinned to his penis. What Swift found in his probings gave credence to the note and painted a very bad and unscrupulous picture of the victim's sexploits because such would affect some innocent lives. This would also have a connection to Swift's inheritance from his friend Milo that was being contested by Milo's vindictive parasite of a son. Oliver was being helped by the town's reporter who had her own ax to grind, sharpening it by matching wits wit Swift.

What an enjoyable book, think this series just gets better and better. I, for once, didn’t see who was the perpetrator nor did I see it coming. Well done!!
I thought it was an exceptional read, and of course I do like Ty, and now with the addition of new characters, I hope there will be more to come. I just have to say that I do find Nora a bit needy and she does irritate me. Think it’s time Ty binned her!!

This was my first foray into the Ty Swift series, but it definitely won’t be my last. When a philandering flight instructor is found dead, suspects abound, and his enabling/doting mother wants to know why, Ty, a private investigator, is called in to find out whodunnit. The story unfolds from Ty’s perspective allowing for a greater understanding of the whole landscape as the story unfolds. I received an advanced digital copy of the book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It just didn't grab me.
Commenced this book hoping and praying it was as good as some of the reviews I've read, but sadly, it didn't. I found it far too descriptive, to the point you would lose track of where the storyline was going. Also, way too many characters popping up and being connected at different times was lost on me. It was an ok read but I won't be following it up with any other books from the series.

This book is actually #6 in the series. It didn't make a difference as far as following along with Ty Swift's past. Now I have read this one, I want to get the 1st novel and begin the series properly. It is well worth it! As an added bonus, the killer(s) clues were well done. I figured out one murder by clues but missed the main killer! Still, the killer was in my suspect pool, though. Yes, I truly enjoyed this whodunit!

Swift becomes involved in a number of twists and turns, led down blind alley's but eventually pieces together the clues to ultimately point him back to the airfield where the murder took place. I enjoyed this and will now look at earlier Gretta Mulrooney books.
