Jesus In My Corner

Rate this book
Jesus in My Corner, written by Andy Flute, chronicles his struggle to overcome a myriad of life-long challenges with violence and alcohol. For over 30 years, violence and alcohol were Andy's daily bread until, one day, by the power of prayer, he managed to achieve what no amount of alcohol or prison incarceration could ever achieve. When he was at the point of death, intoxicated with alcohol following a ten-day binging session, I went to see my old mate and prayed for him with Pastor Steve.

Andy was fighting the demon of alcohol and he was on the ropes, down for the count. Andy, a former captain of the English boxing team and British Middleweight title challenger alongside sparring partner Chris Eubank and other world class fighters, knew what brutal fighting was all about. This fight was different, one he couldn't win on his own strength. Andy felt the intense grip and destructive downward spiral alcohol had on his life. Battered and bleeding, with no more strength, he cried out to Jesus.

In a truly miraculous turnaround, Andy found Jesus in his corner and almost instantaneously gave up alcohol. During the bleakest of moments, he experienced a spiritual awakening. Slowly, he found his way through darkest era of his life. He came to believe a power greater than himself in Jesus.

Now with Jesus in his corner, Andy is an active member of Sedgley Community Church. The Bible employs the analogy of wrestling in reference to our warfare with Satan and his hosts. Andy had a fight that only Jesus could referee, this gigantic battle played out until he was baptised in water.

Andy Flute's willingness to share the most intimate aspects of his life was born out of a deep desire to help others addicted to alcohol and violence.
Despite these daunting events, Andy now works hard to live a normal life and raise a family of his own. He regularly attends prison workshops and shares his testimony in local schools. The Lord has made an amazing transformation in his life, He could do the same for you!

I really loved this book! A friend sent it to me saying “trust me, it’s good.” And I have to whole heartedly agree. I loved hearing author Andy Flute’s story, was quite candid, and I loved reading how he came to God. I learned a lot and maybe I needed my own revitalization on a few things!

I found this work of immense interest. The compilation of his life's accounts are of interest for both the researcher and enthusiast. An honest true story about a life that has been radically changed by the Lord. A rags to riches to rags to riches. Great lessons that apply to every life.

After reading this spiritual memoir by Andy Flute, I am convinced that he truly has turned his life over to God, and that transformation is as fascinating as it gets. Not only is Andy’s story interesting, but its principles can also be applied to the lives of every living human being.

Overall, this book is very useful in serving two purposes: First, for more "advanced" Christians, it shows that, despite being difficult, the Christian battle can be won. Perhaps most importantly, though, it shows non-Christians how completely a life can be turned around for the better, as the author went from essentially challenged by violence and alcohol to a servant of the Lord.

Writing and fighting might seem unlikely bedfellows, but boxing often produces great literature - and this book is a prime example of that. It's partly down to the subject-matter and partly down to the author.
Clear, concise and straight to the point, well-illustrated, but more importantly, Biblical. The author writes about his own journey with alcoholism and applies his deep theological understandings to addiction and recovery.
Jesus in my corner provides practical tools for reflection, hope, and help for those drowning in the pain of addiction. It is also a powerful ministry resource, using the steps Andy took to find freedom from addiction. His story reminds us that we’ve never gone too far to be made new by the big grace of God.
Engaging and bracingly honest, Andy Flute shares his remarkable journey into darkness...and back to the light again. Addiction doesn't have to have the last word. Jesus in my corner offers a holistic approach to healing so that readers can reclaim their lives and move forward in hope.

Book: Jesus in my Corner
Rating: 5/5
Author: Andy Flute
This book Jesus in my Corner written by Author Andy Flute gives you a great insight into his real life of a fighter, the ups and downs of training and fighting, and life in general, and how the addictions he thought he could control would eventually take everything from him and take him to the brink of total destruction.

Author andy describes his journey of finding his faith and how all the fights in his career were nothing compared to the biggest fight against alcoholism and addiction. This book and story would surely motivate many readers out there to overcome the issues they are facing out there.

This story has certainly been written with passion and grabs the reader from the start. Overall, great job by the Author and it was a lovely read for me and I would really encourage to read this one because if you are lost, this book will definitely show you the correct path.

I give massive respect to Andy for turning his life around. Unfortunately this wasn't a good read. It was very repetitive and didn't (for me) give clear insights into why he changed.
