Keep your friends close, and your enemies in your bed...
VIOLET I was taken and given to Andrius. A cold-blooded, unforgiving hitman. I only went and fell for him. Believed the lie of his beauty. But it all turned ugly and dark, and now I'm adrift.
ANDRIUS A gift... mine. I believed she belonged to me, let myself hope. But it all came crashing down in the worst way. Now I have to figure out if I can save her. Save myself. Because when lies and deceit fall away. Can the truth be enough?

Maybe I've read too many mafia books and I can't be impressed very easy..but this book is not even meh. I will probably forget it by midnight. I will give it 2.5 starts for H and secondary characters , the h Violet ...that girl is just plain doormat , tstl and insecure and selfish to no end. I dislike her and her actions and her person. Again this is missing all suspense vibes and I skimmed a lot because I couldn't keep an interest , but I wanted to find out what happens if I read the first two books. Anyway..onto the next one!
This exciting and truly gritty mafia story was filled with daring twists and turns that left me wanting to know more about the other men who protected Violet during the big reveal! Great ending too!
"Andrius isn’t part of the impressionist painting that is my life. Andrius is bright, bold colors and sharp edges. I can see him, truly, in all his messy good and bad. He’s like a bold modernist piece in a gallery of faded prettiness."
Although Andrius was a hard man to decipher, he was all things good to Violet!
“Insane half the time. Like, if another man so much as looked at you the wrong way, I’d rip his head off. You know, despite what I do, despite my life, I’m not a violent man. Not in the sense of getting into fights and losing control. You make me feel like I’m going to lose control. I almost did when I found out who you were. I was in control at first, as I said what I did was wrong, but when I had you up against the wall, I had control; I wouldn’t have hurt you. When you spat in my face, though, I lost it. I fucking lost it, and it scares me, Violet, because I am not a man who loses it.”
"I’ve had enough of being sad. I want to feel the sun and the light, and I want to do it with Violet."
"The fight isn’t all that matters in the end. Love is."
This was book 2 in the "A Bratva Vows" series. This book picks up where book 1 left off Andrius and Violet are dealing with the bombshell. Violet doesn’t know if Andrius is going to get rid of her permanently. Andrius doesn’t know how he’s going to handle what he’s learned about Violet but he knows he has to keep her safe. These two have feelings for one another. I wanted to slap Violet at times for not trusting Andrius. I liked this series and these characters I also liked the secondary characters as well. I love reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.
Violence, tension, passion, love, all are in this wonderful world of Andrius and Violet. There going to have to work hard if they ever want a life of peace and happiness. Some others are out to stop them. Loved this book!
Really enjoy writing style of Ms Jones, but I just couldn’t like this one as much as her others. I really think this could have been one book. Feel like Violet forgave his violence towards her way to quickly but what bothered me the most was how the story got dragged out and it didn’t seem needed or worth it. Enjoyed the new characters introduced and the ending was good. Not sure we needed the whole drawn out Carmel thing, which by the directly contradicted the first book. We were told the reason he never got involved with club employees and his f&$k buddies was to avoid the type of situation he ended up having with Carmel. A little too much inner dialogue that seemed the same over and over.
Like the first book better, but this one was good. I hate when the heroine goes brain dead and it causes all kinds of trouble. A tad annoying for sure. Great read would love to read about some of the supporting characters.
Oh my lord... I was waiting for this book for so long that I thought I would go bananas... The impact the first book had in me made eager to read the next one. SR Jones has a way with words that will hook you up... It happened to me and I had only read one book. Her writing is raw, wild, dark and with so much feelings and emotions in between... I can't say enough to make her justice. The Hit is the third book from the Bratva Vows series and you must read the prequel The Trap and then The Gift. It's imperative that you read them because if you don't you will not be able to understand this book. This book keeps telling us Andrius and Violet's story... As you know Victoria was gifted to Andrius by a Mafia Lord. A gift Andrius didn't wanted but kept it. But things have happened and now... OMG why? Why? Why? I want more... Please... More... I'm in love. This series nailed it and left me wanting to know more about a few characters that are mentioned in this book. The need to know how? Why? When? I have a bunch of questions that need answers. Amazing plot, super engaging, hot, wild and dark. It was amazing the way this story progressed because it left me wanting to keep reading and reading. How can someone have so much deamons and be able to fight them all? This book presented us with love, loyalty, desire as well and revenge, loss, betrayal and crime... So much had happened that I saw myself biting my nails... Oh lord. This book was the perfect combination of drama and desire. SR Jones I'm in love and I can't wait to read your other books... When will we have Damon's story? Soon right? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This one starts off right where The Gift ends so if you haven't read The Gift read that first! Violet and Andrius have quite a few twists and turns and misunderstandings but through it all Andrius is sure of one thing, he has to keep Violet safe, from himself and from the outside world. Violet knows she is all sorts of messed up and has demons and shouldn't care for Andrius but she cannot help herself. These two really bring out the best in each other. All the way to the ending which left me feeling all warm inside and closing my kindle with a sigh...now I'm looking forward to Damen's story.

(this is a review of the entire series as a whole, since it doesn’t really read like 2 books with whole arcs, but rather one book in 2 parts)
I had picked up this series after spotting the characters in the Bratva Blood series and knowing right away that this pairing would be much more up my alley.
This was a fun read and I enjoyed the tropes, the steam and the possessiveness that never did verge on not-okay. Was it a masterpiece? No. Did I enjoy the occasional bad decision making of the female protagonist being an idiot as usual? No. But, at least unlike the Bratva Blood series, where it was the naive innocence of the protagonist that led to her idiocy, here there seemed to be a somewhat justified reason behind it and enough progress that it didn’t pull me out of the story nearly as much.
This is the action part of the story! Violet’s beginnings, her life story is now out in the open as is Andrius’s history, on top of all that Justina actually physically hurt Violet. At least Andrius held himself back and he kept himself from physically hurting her. Now he needs her gone from the house, he needs to take in everything he now knows and figure out how to keep Violet safe. Now he is not just protecting her from himself, but from his boss Allyov, and the other bratva boss Kyrylo.
Andrius has two friends Damen and Alesso come and remove her from his home and take her somewhere where she will be safe. Until he has everything in order he can’t even make a decision if she will come back to the house or just be hidden from everyone. Both Violet and Andrius have a lot to think about. Can he keep her safe, should he send her away; while Violet is wondering can he get over who her father was, can they have any kind of future, does he love her, how will she live if he doesn’t take her back.
This last book holds everything that is now out in the open between them and brings them closer together as a couple. Violet however, I think due to her younger age and not so much world experience could end up throwing away what might be a good thing for her and in the long run possibly putting Andrius in a situation that could mean life of death for him.
This last book is quite an emotional ride, not just for Andrius and Violet but for Justina as well as some of the periphery characters that have joined Andrius in his bid to keep Violet safe from the expanded danger.
All and all these three books made for a great weekend read and I will happily read an S. R. Jones book(s) in the future. Probably when I get a need for some weekend Mafia in my reading life. Lastly as with the first two books congratulations of again having a cover that gives the reader a total view of what Andrius might look like, along with how his hands look at the end of the day.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
Keep your friends close, and your enemies in your bed....Violet was taken, kidnapped and given to him. A cold-blooded, unforgiving hitman with sexy eyes and an irresistible body. She only went and fell for him and believed the lie of his beauty. But, it all turned ugly and dark and now she is adrift. Andrius believed that Violet belonged to him. After all she was kidnapped and give to him to keep. But he let himself hope and it all came crashing down in the worst way. Now he has to figure out if he can save her. Save himself. Because when the lies and deceit fall away, can the truth be enough.
The Hit is the second book in the Bratva Vows Duet. These books are dark and may hold triggers for some people. You can also not read The Hit without reading The Gift first. Your going to be so lost if you try to do that. The Hit takes off right were the Gift left off so you are not jumping into the future and a little on the lost side like some series I have read. This is the pay off. The book were Andrius knows that he has to keep Violet safe and that has gone and fallen in love with the woman that was kidnapped and given to him. Andrius has realized just exactly who Violet is and she has realized who her father is and it feels like the entire world has blown up. This book is good and will have you reading as fast as you can. These are both novella sized books so you will devour them. I am so glad I got to read these books. They were my first time reading S.R. Jones but I am sure it won't be my last time.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I’ve been waiting for this book and it was so worth the wait. We pick up right where we left off, Andrius and Violet in pain, Andrius realizing who she is really is and Violet learning who her father really was. With everything that’s happened, and Justina’s actions makes Violet feel horrible, but unsure of what she’s been told is the truth, how could it be? How could her father be the monster that Andrius had made him out to be? Feelings between these two are boiling over and neither knows what to do with it. All Andrius knows is that he needs to keep her safe and out of sight and he does just that. He entrusts her life with men he would trust with his. There is so much angst, passion, lust, misunderstandings, and wandering thoughts for both of them especially Violet, she always thinks the worst about herself and the relationship between her and Andrius, which can get her in a little bit of trouble. Andrius can’t fathom why she would want to be with someone so cold and when an act of desperation puts their lives at risk, both Andrius and Violet need to figure out where they fit, is it together or is it better to be apart? A life change is needed, but is Andrius up to the task, is he in it for the long haul? I guess you will need to read their story to find out. This book was amazing, I loved it, and I highly recommend it!
>Book Review – The Hit >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 2nd in the Bratva Vows series and ends in an HEA. Violet’s parentage has just been revealed causing Andrius to freak out. He sends her away in protective custody until he can decide how he really feels about her. Andrius makes up his mind to continue loving Violet a bit too quickly for how violent he was to her. A lot of new characters from a different series are introduced as bodyguards. These guys all seem to have interesting stories. I felt this book was more a promo for the other series rather than an ending to this duet. >Justina is a totally different character in this story. She befriends Violet in book 1, but really hurts her and turns on her more than once after she finds out whom Violet’s dad is. Andrius doesn’t really do anything to protect Violet or stick up for her in regards to Justina, making his declaration of love a bit weak. >This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. Andrius’ “retirement” seemed too easy for someone in the Bratva. I did love the relationship between Andrius and Violet, but not the easy acceptance of Violet by the rest of the mob.
I felt less urgency to finish this book than I did with the first two of this series, but it was still a really good read. I loved the miscommunication, and that they loved each other but both were too scared to admit it. That plays pretty heavily in most of my favorite romances. I also loved the secondary characters. As I read this series I was really hoping there might be more books by this author to tell their stories, and I was thrilled to see that there are. Anyway, I loved the growth they both experience throughout the series, but especially in this final book. I also really liked that Violet puts herself in therapy. Rarely does therapy play a part in dark romance, although the disastrous experiences these poor people live through make it a given that they will all NEED therapy to function in a healthy way. That Violet pursued therapy, and was responding positively to it, made the story more realistic to me. I wish this book had been a little longer as some of it felt a bit rushed/underdeveloped, but I still really liked it. And I still definitely recommend this series!
Super emotional beginning (please tell me you read book #1 – The Gift) as Andrius and Violet realize there is an early, and unfortunate, connection between them and their families. Danger from the mob, uncertainty in relationships, and special men (already taken, sorry ladies) who will guard Violet so well that if she does not want to stay with Andrius, they will “steal” her away to keep her safe.
“I once read a psychology book that claimed love was a form of mental illness that when we fall in love, we lose all reason and do crazy things for it. Some people get addicted to the feeling, the author claimed. I’d rolled my eyes at the time, but now I get it… If this is falling in love. If this is what it feels like, it’s the best high I’ve ever had.”
Exceptional. Heart-wrenching. Complicated. So many great adjectives, and fast flipping pages to find out what happens.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
I'm afraid that I have to start out by saying that The Hit is Book 2 in the Bratva Vows series, so YOU MUST READ The Gift (Book 1) FIRST, as this story picks right back up where the first one left off. Now, I'm not going to go into details since that may give out spoilers to those who haven't read it yet, but OMG, SR Jones just hit the ground running. Violet & Andrius' story is 100% intense, so all the feelings that they are experiencing aren't for the weak that's for sure. Their chemistry is off the charts insane, so sexy times light furniture on fire, hell, it almost set my kindle on fire. There's a lot of secondaries that come into play, so it's hard to say who are the good guys, and who are the bad guys, so I stayed on the edge of my seat cover to cover. Which means there are definitely f-bomb worthy twists, and trust me, I dropped them like they were hot! I absolutely LOVED Violet & Andrius' journey, though it wasn't easy and I wanted to hurt him a time or two. I hope there are more books in this series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
I was still crying when I started this book (cause The Gift just tore at my heart) and the beginning of The Hit wasn't any happier.
Thank the lord that I didn't have to read long before things looked like they would work out. I say looked like, cause there are a few twists that keep you on your toes and sometimes even I would start to wonder if my love-bugs would end up together. They did, not giving anything away guys. We all know out romances need HEA, otherwise what's the point of all the heartache and build up? And this book has all of that. I truly do love Andrius as one of my favorite male leads in a romance. He's rough and hard and not the person that you should want, but dang! If S.R. Jones didn't write him so freaking well. And Violet, little Zaika, she's just such a strong female lead, even when she acts like a "stupid" girl sometimes (you can't really blame her. She's had a rough go).
Anyways, I did tear up a bit at the end but I was SOOOOO HAPPY with the end. I want to read the whole series again.......
The book has so many descriptions things and people and whatnot. Not mu cup of tea. I had to skim through a lot. I was expecting a thrilling or interesting plot but there isnt. Also whats up with Violet and Isla looking so alike to be mistaken as sisters? I thought something would come out of it. Justina is a truly horrible person. I sympathize with her for what she went through and suffered but twice, she treated Violet like crap when it wasnt exactly her fault or her fault alone. You’d think seeing another person in the same level of despair and hurt as you would be compassionate with others (or at least try!!) but she downright dumped it on Violet. She was mostly nice to her when it suited her but one thing goes wrong and she’s out. And then she calls her a friend! Some friend you are, Justina. I only read it because i was halfway through the plot and thought i might as well find out. I wouldn’t have missed much if I hadn’t read it

I’ve been waiting for this second in the series. The first was such a roller coaster of emotion. This reminds me about why I don’t do cliffhangers.
Andrius is such a contrast in personality. The guy who the world sees and the one Violet is aware of. Violet on the other hand is extremely impulsive. I never knew what she would get herself into. This story answers so many questions from the first book and brings the story together. When these two became aware of more of each others past the story took a turn. I am surprised how the author made Andrius more human. I’m glad the author did not leave me hanging with this story. I this this author is great at writing stories that hook me. I will watch for more from her.
I am a freaking fan of this series and will definitely be keeping up with SR Jones and her future books. We find out so much information in this book and what happens to Violet and Andrius after he discovers who she truly is.
I will say that Andrius is one of the most swoon-worthiest men that I have ever read about. For him to be so dark and a freaking hitman, he feels freaking everything and deserves nothing but the best.
If you read the first book and enjoyed it and were like me that you could not wait for this one, you will definitely enjoy this conclusion. I am a huge fan!
5 outta 5 stars!
PS: I received this book for free, but am voluntarily reviewing it!
found this book slightly better than the first one. the story continues and i really liked the character development of both. still couldn't get intimidated by andrius. ex special forced and unhinged hitman? bullshit. i‘m sorry but you can‘t tell me he couldn‘t have stopped what boris did 🤷🏼♀️
i think the whole story was very wholesome and i really loved ethan and his friends. he would have done everything to keep violet save even tho she was just a „job“ for him. same with his friends. 🙏🏼
overall it‘s a cute read with some minor action happening.
the ending was cute (i normally don‘t say it to such endings but what he said about his gift had me tearing up a little 🥹)
still think there would have been more potential to be considered dark romance.
Violet doesn’t know if Andrius is going to get rid of her permanently. Andrius doesn’t know how he’s going to handle what he’s learned about Violet, but he knows he has to keep her safe. The end to this powerful duet is as intense and compelling as its beginning. Violet and Andrius’s relationship is a roller coaster of passionate and surprising twists and turns and HOT, steamy chemistry. It’s a gripping tale full of emotions, drama, and intrigue. This is an intensely captivating and enthralling love story which will keep you involved from beginning to end. I highly recommend this remarkable duet!
I really liked this story and the first two books before this really had me excited for the conclusion. But this kind of fell a little flat. I think I was expecting more conflict between Violet and Andrius instead of a quick forgive and forget. Plus, I wanted Violet to be stronger in herself. Andrius was a great character because of his internal struggle with what does and behaves but he has confidence in himself. Violet had none and made terrible decisions. I'm not saying this was a terrible ending. It wasn't by far. With the lead up of the last book, I was looking forward to some major fireworks to take place.
The final installment of this romantic suspense novel is finally here! Andrius and Violet’s story continues and you won’t be disappointed. When past secrets are finally revealed and truths are unleashed can you still want to protect the girl you came to care for? Andrius has a lot on his plate trying find a way to keep Justina and Violet safe while finally becoming the mafia’s second in command. Will he be able to protect what is his and still get his revenge? This is a wild ride and great ending to this series! Told in dual POV
The Hit by SR Jones is book two in the Bratva Vows and continues the story of Violet and Andrius. Since the first book 'The Gift' starts their story you should really read that first to enjoy this one. Their is a Prequel too called 'The Trap' that I haven't yet read but just making note in case you want to start from the beginning. This starts where the other book left us and we see the uncertainty in Violet along with Andrius who is working through what he has learned. This has been a page turner of a read for me...enjoyed this series.
This is a continuation of Andrius and Violet's story. Andrius and violet are both coming to terms with their tragic past which is determined to tear them apart. Violet finds herself in love with Andrius but finds it difficult to believe she is enough for him. Andrius loves Violet but has been unable to tell her.
Andrius must make a deal with Allyov, in order to keep Violet safe. Wil Andrius ever be able to walk away from his past? This is an intense passionate book that will keep you engrossed in the story from beginning to end.
This was a awesome series . Had it like a rollercoaster up and down. Jullia I like her and but stuff she said to Violet was. Ok first time I could forgive her but then she started again on her. Wasn't big on her I like her at first but the end I tolerated her. I mean what she goes and lives with them til the end . I guess basically she needed to get help and seperate from those 2. But I loved the story these 2 so belonged together . I kept thinking somehow Isla was going to be her sister the way it was written I was wrong. Great story
Past revelations leave Andrius and Violet reeling for what this means. Their pasts entwine in the worst of ways, Andrius became the man he is and Violet was set on her path, because the of it. They need revenge but at what cost? Can Andrius forgive and let go of his? How can Violet live knowing her past was a lie? With the help of some old faces can they get past the direct line of danger they are both in? Well written concluding part to their story. With suspense desires, hot scenes, second chances and more!
