The Safe Bet

She's there to plan the veterans military ball — not to fall for the Marine in charge.

From the moment she arrives in Charlotte, Kate is tongue-tied by Michael. She's never fallen for a client before, but then she's never had a client like him — sleek, hard, and impenetrable as steel.

While Kate struggles to keep her distance, a stalker sends her tumbling more deeply into Michael's world. The former Marine is equipped and willing to protect her, and yet Kate finds herself growing more terrified than ever in his care. For as they grow closer, she realizes that Michael has his own secret past. And while he might save her life, he will surely break her heart.

Standalone in a series

Kate Adams is a consummate professional, she assists in planning the perfect events and keeps her personal and professional life separated. Helping plan an event for the Maddox siblings should be no problem, except for those butterflies she gets around Michael that leave her tongue tied and incapable of thought. He would be the perfect catch for Kate, if he was up for more than a one-night-stand...and he wasn't her client. When a stalker threatens Kate's safety, Michael finds himself willing to do anything to protect her, anything except share his secrets and open his heart.

"You thought I would forget you?" His words sent shivers dancing up her spine, and she could have sworn she had a heart palpitation.

Kate struggles with the dangers of losing her heart, Michael faces the danger of sharing his secrets, together they tackle the dangers of a serious stalker, and I lost to the danger when I grew attached to the characters and their story. Silenced Memories is Brittney Sahin's debut novel and the first novel in a standalone series titled Hidden Truths. This captivating book mixes romance with suspense, taking the mixture of business and pleasure another step further. The strongest part of Silenced Memories is the plot, it was really well fleshed out, easy to picture, and played out in my head like a movie would. I found my anxiety growing as the action picked up and I love a book that can make me experience the peril alongside the characters.

...no one had ever unlocked her soul this way before. Had she ever let a man really know her, before now?

I loved the multifaceted story line, I felt like I got to really know the characters outside of their romance and the threat of the stalker. I loved Kate, she's a strong female character that knows herself, but isn't immune to the power of the Man of Steel. She's smart, beautiful, and at times a little irrational, but all the same fun to read about. Her family's past plays a huge role in the story and I really enjoyed how she reacted and dealt with the secrets and twists. Michael, on the oher hand, is totally swoonworthy. I loved his character background and how much went into showing his successes as a business man and hidden flaws as he struggles with his past in the military. At times I couldn't see these two working and at other times I thought they were soulmates, which made for a really interesting read. There is a ton of character development in Silenced Memories, especially when the characters recognize their feelings and start looking at themselves in new ways. I found myself wrapped up in them, just as surprised by the twists as they were. It's definitely not a predictable book and it just got better with every page turn.

She had a stalker. And she was falling for a man with a field of ice around his heart.

If you are looking for a hot, sexy, and suspensful read, let me assure you that this is it. There's secrets, apprehension, guns, lust, and some very headstrong characters at the center of this novel. Silenced Memories is just the tip of the iceberg in the Hidden Truths series, you'll definitely find yourself eager to know more about all the secondary characters you meet in Silenced Memories. Give me more of the hot marines, for sure.

DNF = 1*

Pulling the plug at 50%

I did like that the author chose to use a lot of dialogue unfortunately it’s some of the most stilted and non-sensical dialogue I have ever read.

I did not like the hero but perhaps he gets better as he falls in love. But at this point he is still a cold hearted manwhore. We also have a case logic fail. The man who has women flinging themselves at him and who refuses to have anything other than casual meaningless sex has never had a woman stay at his home. However he has a box of condoms in his nightside table?

But the thing that I just can not deal with is our Harvard graduate business owner heroine. She is truly TSTL.

I can not read this any more.

I came across this book during the BookTour for the second book of this series. Our CoBlogger Kate read the second book mentioning to me that she had a problem with the Character named "Michael" as he interfered everywhere.
Well after reading the first book (and without reading the second) I must say - I think I can imagine what happend (I refuse the spoilers - lets just say he is kind of INTENSE) - but honestly here in his own story he is simply great -
The author walked a fine line between the wealthy guy and the hard seal - she managed to merge those two perfectly into a great story.
And after reading this book now I also understand Kates request that the next book should be about Connor - honestly speaking I would have already expected the second book to be about him.
I can hardly wait to get my fingers on Connors story - I can already sens something good there if it is written anywhere near to this book here

Military with plenty of romantic suspense!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚💜❤️
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😟🙁☺️🤓
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Kate Adams - she is an event planner, whose most recent event was a wedding where the bride ran out. Though weddings weren’t her usual gig, and she was hoping her next meeting in Charlotte, NC would be successful. She is a consummate professional who works out of New York City but plans events all over. Michael Maddox makes her nervous, she doesn’t know how to act around him and always seems to get tongue tied around him. Luckily her meeting the following day is with Julia Maddox, not Michael.

The Hero: Michael Maddox - he was a marine injured in combat in Afghanistan in 2010, where he lost so many of his men. He lived when many had died, and he wasn’t sure how he could go on. His best friend Jake decided to get out of the military and go to Quantico to become a Fed. Michael decided to leave the military soon after and started up a private company based on his knowledge of the military and built it into a multi-million-dollar business.

The Story: Kate is in Charlotte to plan a gala event for one of Michael’s businesses, though his sister Julia wants the event to happen in a short amount of time and Michael hasn’t agreed to host the event yet. He started a small business to help military veterans and wants people to help with his charity because they want to do something good, not because they will be seen in the press. Though Julia knows that most people, especially rich people, never do anything unless they get something out of it.

The two main characters both have some deep-seated issues. It is immediately apparent that Kate has some problems with her father. She works for a firm started by her stepmother, and she is constantly ignoring her phone when her father calls. She visits her mothers grave, and it comes out that her mother died on the day she was born. Michael has some lingering PTSD from his time in the marines. Kate finds out that he has been different since he left the military than he was before he went in. He is also very anti-commitment.

The setup is rich with emotional tension and grounded character conflict—both personal and relational. You’ve got two guarded people carrying invisible wounds, thrown together under professional pretenses but with inevitable emotional entanglement. Kate’s carefully polished exterior hides guilt and unresolved grief, while Michael’s steel-trap control masks survivor’s guilt and a deep fear of vulnerability. There’s so much potential for healing and growth through their interactions.

What makes this particularly compelling is how neither of them is positioned as “broken” needing fixing. Instead, Brittney Sahin created room for mutual understanding: Michael might help Kate loosen her perfectionist armor, while she could quietly shift his perception of what commitment actually requires—not obligation, but trust. Add a stalker to the mix and we have a romantic suspense worth reading or listening to.

This audiobook was narrated from multiple perspectives, done in dual narration by Jason Clarke and Ava Lucas. These are two of my favorite narrators and you can always count on them to do an awesome job. Jason Clarke has a deep, gravelly voice that I just love. He does sexy so well. Ava Lucas has a soft, feminine professional sounding voice which is perfect for Kate.

As a reviewer, you're given a list of books to pick and choose from. You read the blurb, look at the cover and make a decision on whether you're interested in diving in to the that particular world. I have to admit that when this book came up for "auction" (intended pun), I didn't grab it. Not because it didn't sound interesting, but because my plate was already pretty full. But guess what? I got it and am happy I had the chance to read it. There was so much more to the this story than the blurb indicated...and I'm happy I didn't know about them before reading it.

Kate is an event planner who has been hired by the sister of a mega millionaire (without his knowledge) to plan a fundraiser for the company. After being convinced that this event would be for a good cause, she agrees to do it, with only one week to get things in order. Ok, it doesn't hurt that she gets to look at the one and only Man of Steel himself, Michael Maddox. Boy of boy you can feel the sexual tension in the air from the very moment the meet...well, both times they "meet". So you can only imagine how difficult planning an event is when you're surrounded by all that hotness.

Michael hates being in the limelight. He doesn't like drawing attention to himself and he sure as heck isn't interested in being put up for auction at a charity event he didn't even want. But there's something about Kate that makes him putty whenever she asks for something. So whatever Kate wants...Michael is also the kind of guy that doesn't "do" relationships. Too bad Kate is the kind of girl who "only" does relationships. Michael just doesn't think he has anything to offer when it comes to commitments. So why can't he keep his hands to himself? What's up with the jealousy? She just might be the death of him.

As if the stress of planning an event within a week wasn't enough to drive anyone crazy, Kate has a stalker who's putting not only fear in her life, but has dug up some issues from her past that has Kate completely questioning who she is and where she's come from. This was written so well that the stories within the stories intertwined seamlessly. Which made the book seem shorter than it really was. All in all, this was a good suspense read with just right amount of romance.

* I was given this book from the Jeep Diva in exchange for my honest review.

This is a solid first book for the author but there was really nothing to write home about. It was pretty much standard fare for the genre and rather predictable. I really didn't feel the chemistry between the two main characters and the steam factor was lukewarm at best. The 'drama' was all rather contrived and I found myself wondering how oblivious the heroine could be. The writing was good overall, but there were many times when I felt the dialogue and prose clunky and stilted because the author chose not to use a contraction. It was kind of weird because she did use them in other places so it's not like she had an aversion to them - she just didn't use them enough. There were also a couple of places where if it had been a movie, I'd be complaining that the continuity person missed something. Another rookie mistake that an editor should have picked up.

I am not sure how this book got so many good reviews. The Writing was childish and choppy at times. There really was no real depth to the relationship. They let saying how attractive the other person was. No more depth than that. Also, the blatant patriotic pandering was a bit unsettling. How many times can you say you have to do whatever you need to to keep the country safe. Have to follow orders. Anyone ever heard of the Nuremberg Trials or the Geneva Convention? And why the f$ck am I bringing this up in a review of a romance novel? Sigh.

This book was free .... but I paid too much. I kept thinking the story would get better but it just got more ridiculous. Kate is an event planner who is hired to do a gala event in Charlotte NC for multi millionaire Michael. Michael is ex-marine who clearly has some PTSD issues and anti-relationship sentiments. While Kate is falling in love with him she’s also being stalked. To show you how far fetched this is (yes spoilers coming) it turns out her father hired someone to scare her away from Charlotte so she wouldn’t find out her mother had been murdered instead of dying in childbirth. To add to the drama - the guy he hired naturally is a former marine turned international hit man and terrorist who kidnaps Kate to try to blackmail Michael into providing government secrets. Naturally they capture this bad guy but low and behold Kate’s mom’s murderer is still out there and turns out to be the well known lawyer with whom she is working on her next event. He was obsessed with her mother when they were in school and has made each of his wives have plastic surgery to look like her after he had killed her in a jealous rage. So - terrorist captured, murderer captured, and then Michael proposes. Really not sure why I continued dreading to the end - but kept thinking maybe it would get better! Even the romance fell short - so don’t pull the trigger on this one - even if it’s free!!

Good story

This was pretty good. I liked both the hero and heroine. The back story of his time in the military and his PTSD were okay but this kind of trope has been a little overdone lately. Not that it is bad. I love military stories! This one I really liked. The mystery of her Moms murder and her Fathers actions were well done. Just don't know if I could forgive him like she did. They were separated for two months but it is safe. I just hate separations. Thank goodness this was a short one before he came to his senses.

It's a safe bet I won't be reading any additional books in this series....

Kate's blindsided by her attraction to the rich and mysterious (but hot) Michael Maddox. Since she's only going to be in town a short time, she decides that maybe she should have some no-strings fun with the handsome former soldier. As their mutual attraction blazes to life, they both find themselves wanting.....more. When Kate reveals that she's being threatened by an unknown stalker, Michael realizes that he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even though it means stepping back from their developing relationship. However, when Kate discovers the truth about her past, she's devastated -- can Michael heal her wounds?

The story starts out well enough -- event planner Kate falls hard for rich and sexy-but-shy Michael. And then goes downhill fast -- Kate seems rather cold when she decides to use Michael for her 'walk on the wild side' and never warms up. Michael is so remote he may as well be on a mission to the space station. I get that he has Baggage from his military service, but he needs therapy more than he needs a relationship with a twit like Kate.

Then there's all the author's attempts to ratchet up the sexual tension by interrupting the sexy times (I mean, I guess that's what was supposed to be happening) -- usually it's Michael deciding to be noble, or Kate having second thoughts. It got to be distracting -- I started trying to predict if a certain scene would get cock-blocked or not..

Then there's the WTF moment when Michael says: “I don’t do relationships, Kate. I fuck." Hmmm...sound like any other erotica Hero we know??? Wow...WHY would you put that dialogue in your book, when it's so well-known from elsewhere?

There there's the weird two-villain thing. There's the stalker, and then the separate, but somewhat related mystery surrounding the long-ago death of Kate's mother. It's not too difficult to figure out who the bad guy is/are -- you certainly don't need two of them.

So..sadly, just 2 stars.

Thoughtful Romantic Thriller

Event planner Kate Adams has been hired to organize a fundraiser for a company in Charlotte owned by wealthy and handsome Michael Maddox and his sister Julia. When Kate and Michael meet, the chemistry is instant. While the attraction is mutual, Michael confesses he's not into relationships and Kate informs him that she doesn't do one-night stands. When Kate is threatened by a stalker, Michael takes her protection in his own hands. The sexual tension is palpable and complicating matters is Michael's PTSD.

This is a suspenseful complicated thriller punctuated by hot sex scenes. It's a page-turner that will keep you guessing until the end. It's a great read and I recommend it highly.

Okay I officially feel like Grumpy Cat reincarnated--this is the second book in the last 4 hours I've dnf'd. For me, this was not Brittney's best work. In fact, I could tell that this was her first novel because the writing was juvenile, too literal, and frankly a bit choppy. I tried to power through but ultimately didn't really feel like wasting my time on her earlier novel when her later works are SO MUCH BETTER. Hopefully, my mood improves enough that I'm able to actually get past the halfway mark of a novel soon.

I'd give the first third of the book 4 stars, and the last 2/3 of the book 1 star. I liked the first part - the auction, but it seemed like the last 2/3 was written by a different author or at a different time and it was very slow reading.

Silenced Memories is the first book in the Hidden Truths Series but can be read as a standalone.

Silenced Memories is about a woman named Kate Adams who has always been able to have a professional relationship with her clients, that is until Michael Maddox. Michael is a gorgeous, intelligent, former Marine that turned into a multi-millionaire entrepreneur. Michael may seem perfect but there is one problem, he doesn't do relationships. Kate doesn't do one night stands.

As the tense between Kate and Michael heats up, Kate discovers that she has a rather large problem - an untraceable stalker...and a dangerous past. When Michael offers his protection, Kate is grateful and afraid because as they grow closer she realizes that Michael has his own secret past and well he might save her life, he will surely break her heart.

The characters, the plot, the whole novel was so well written and intriguing that I found myself unable to put this novel down. The plot twists, suspense, and overall mystery made Silenced Memories even more amazing. Seriously a delectable read.

I recommend this novel to anyone that enjoys romance thrillers, plot twists, and deliciously good characters. Buy and read this novel today.

Thanks to Brittney Sahin (Author of the Silenced Memories) & Lisa (Tasty Virtual Book Tour) for giving me the opportunity to review Silenced Memories.

I just could never really care much about these two characters. I usually love military characters struggling with things they experienced, but Michael was like a cardboard cut-out. The only interesting thing he did was in the epilogue (I won’t say what because I don’t want to give away any part of the story) and that’s just too late. For a character who’s supposed to be smart and independent, Kate’s actions didn’t jibe much of the time. Because I never felt truly connected to the characters, even the sex scenes were underwhelming.

There were many inconsistencies, especially in the ‘mystery/suspense’ side of the story, and I found myself reading with one eyebrow raised (in other words I didn’t trust the writing completely). But still I wanted to know the resolution of the mystery (more so than the romance). However, the climax felt rushed and certain actions didn’t make any sense, and/or jumped in time (i.e., how did he know to go *there*…?). So… not as satisfying as I’d hoped.

3rd person pov, which I hate, leaves me feeling disconnected from the characters.

The hero is ok. That’s it. Just ok. He’s a manwhore but appears to not continue that after meeting the h.

The h is the worst. I was embarrassed for her. She was so clingy and desperate. Started off well with pushing him away saying she doesn’t do ONS. Quickly turns into a whiny stage 5 clinger. She flips between trying to manipulate him into showing his feelings, that I don’t think he was actually having yet, and telling herself that he’s not a relationship person. Couldn’t stand her.

The story itself was ok/decent.

I was thoroughly entertained by this book. I can tell by my overflowing pile of dirty laundry and sink full of dirty dishes. I was just glued to the story until the end! 5 Stars to The Safe Bet by author Brittney Sahin.

Fantastic! This was another amazing book by Brittney. And since I have read several of her books, I am not surprised. The Safe Bet is the first book in the Hidden Truths series. Strangely enough, I started this series with book four (Surviving The Fall) which was so good. As a matter of fact I remembering recommending that book to anyone who would listen. If you are interested, you can find my review here on GR.

That said, this book is romantic suspense at its best. I read a lot a books in this genre, however I can honestly say that Brittney Sahin is on the top five of my favorites list. She has a talent for writing mystery and intrigue with a side of anxiety and angst at is best. This book had so many feels, great tension between the H/h and a cast of secondary characters with their own complexity which you will read about in their own books. This book is a fast-paced page turner.

The road to HEA is not easy.

Michael Maddox is a multimillionaire, sexy, gorgeous, arrogant and former military. He has a list of personal issues that will break your heart. He is a man who doesn't believe in happily ever afters. Especially not where he is concerned. As a result, Michael does not let feelings get involved when he is with a woman. But that all changes when he meets Kate. So now, not only is he fighting the demons of his past, he is fighting his feelings for Kate.

Kate is an event planner brought to Charlotte to work with the Maddox corporation to plan a fundraiser for military veterans in the hopes to help them through their struggles in the civilian world. While she is working with Michael and his sister, Kate finds herself having more attention than she can handle. Especially when some of that attention is brought on by a mysterious and dangerous stalker.

What I loved about this storyline was its unpredictability. Part of my reading enjoyment is trying to guess the plot. But it was not easy in this book. There was more going on that I guessed. And while I was able to figure some of it out, there were occurrences I did not see coming.

Unfortunately, this is one of the reviews I have to be careful with my words. I don't want to spoil any of this book for you.

As of right now, the Hidden Truths series has four books available starring Michael Maddox and his equally sexy and flawed friends. Additionally coming this summer will sadly be the last in this series so while that is sad, it also means you have plenty of time to catch up with all the books.

If you are are fan of romantic suspense/mystery, I wholeheartedly recommend this author. I promise you will not be disappointed!

This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

This is the first book in the Hidden Truths series by Brittney Sahin.

This sort of book is right in my wheelhouse. Romantic suspense is my jam, my guilty pleasure. So how could I not love this? According to the author this was her first book and all I can say is WOW! Can I write a first book this good?

Kate Adams is an event planner and the sister of a millionaire asks her to plan a fundraising event to benefit the veterans of which Michael Maddox had been during his time in the service. There were many references to Superman and Man of Steel in this book so it gave me a good idea what Michael looked like during the course of the book. Michael has fired a few event planners before Kate. But there is just something about her that makes him accept the event and assist with the planning.

Michael was not only in the military but he created technology that made it easier for the government to do their secret spy jobs. Suddenly Kate has a stalker following her and a father pressing her to leave Charlotte where her mother had died supposedly during childbirth. This pulls Kate into Michael’s world and he is bound and determined to protect her. When they discover the identity of the stalker, everything changes and they realize just how their lives are in jeopardy.

This book really keeps you guessing and causes some pulse pounding moments. You just can’t put this book down and must discover what is going on. At least, if you’re me, that is how I sped through the book. I had to know.

Other reviewers have said how different this book was to others in this series. I agree it is a bit different but different isn’t bad. This is the first book. And from this book you learn to expand to other books in the series. Book two is about a bar owner who knew Michael from the military. Not everything is going to be the same. In the Stealth Ops series it is more cohesive because you know what to expect and know the team. Here the team is revealed in each book. Different but still good. I truly enjoyed book one in the Hidden Truths series and have already purchased all books in the line up.

Highly recommended.

The Safe Bet is a fantastic romantic suspense written by Brittney Sahin. It hooked me from the start and did not let go. I even found myself thinking about these characters, when I had to walk away from the world she created and back into my real life.

In this book you meet Kate Adams and Michael Maddox. Kate has come to Charlotte in interests of opening another branch of her event planning business, but when she arrives, she gets far more than she bargained for.

Michael Maddox is a former Marine who has taken his knowledge of military intelligence into the private sector. He since then has created a multi-million dollar enterprise. Though he does his best to keep his private life private, he is adamant about helping Veterans. He keeps his heart on lock down and doesn't have time for relationships. But when Kate bumps into him one evening, she just might be the one to change his plans.

I enjoyed the way Brittney Sahin developed her characters in this story. They burrowed into my heart and did not let go. I am new to her as an author, but I can't wait to see what she has in store for me next in the next books in this series. This is a stand alone story, but the minor characters she has written about has me intrigued!

I finished The Safe Bet a few days ago and it's DEFINITELY a MUST-READ! It's not just a love story or about the dirty sex scenes! It's about a strong female character who knows what she wants and works her ass off... And about a man whos been through some of the worse things but still finds it in his heart to love and show what it means to protect not only your country but also the people you love. The Safe Bet is book #1 in the Hidden Truths Series and trust me... you're absolutely going to feel the need for more!!! Therefore go read the whole series RIGHT NOW! I'm currently reading book #2 Beyond The Chase and I can tell you this series just keeps getting better and better!!

Another fluff romance that’s a quick and easy read. This one tried to have some intrigue and mystery, but it was a little much and really didn’t add to the story. I’m also not sure how well the author captured PTSD and veterans. The book seemed to want to comment on the struggle many returning vets have, but I felt it was done in a rather superficial way. 2.5 stars.

The beginning of this novel was promising, interesting and just what I knew I wanted, but unfortunately, it didn't last. The plot became very convoluted in the end and made me laugh, literally, and after about 30-40% I struggled to not roll my eyes at the constant hot but cold situation. I also wanted to throttle both of them, him for being a controlling freak, and Katie for cutting him so much slack and finding excuses for his behaviour.

I really enjoyed the mystery behind the romance. At first I thought this was more about maternity and obsession. But, came to realize it's just about obsession and greed. That's what some of the intricate characters in the story were about. The suspense was very gratifying towards the outcome. I'll look forward to reading Jake's and Connor's story in the near future!

****review in english(sorry for any mistakes)
I won Silenced Memories here on goodreads and I read it with great interest because I love romance novels. However Silenced memories is not only a romance novel, but also a mystery book, and I really liked this combination because it was something new for me and because it made the love story way more interesting.
I didn't like the characters so much because in a romance novel I like to find funny characters, and according to me Kate and Michael were a little bit boring.
Anyway I enjoyed myself reading it and i highly recommend it!

4.5 Man Of Steel stars

Reading the debut novel by Brittney Sahin, I didn't really know what to expect but I love suspense romance so was intrigued to find out more about the story. In Silenced Memories she transports us to Charlotte with the love story that unfolds between Kate Adams and Michael Maddox. Brittney takes us and her characters on twists and turns full of secrecy, betrayal, danger, steam, and let's not forget all the hot ex-marines... hmmm. The story kept me guessing and Kate and Michael were hot and mysterious.

Kate goes to Charlotte against her father's wishes not knowing the history and tragedy that the town signifies for her family. What was supposed to be a week long trip to complete a job for her company quickly turns into a bewildering maze of lies, bullets, and fear. Amidst all the confusion is her uncontrollable desire for Michael, the one and only person who can help her discover the truth about her past and protect her from the danger that surrounds her. Kate is intelligent, has a mind of her own, and refuses to play the damsel in distress. It was entertaining to watch the fireworks erupt between her and her over protective white knight.

Since leaving the Marines, Michael has devoted his life to philanthropy for veterans from behind the scenes and avoiding relationships. When Kate is thrust in his life to organize a very public fund raising event, he finds himself immediately enchanted by this beautiful woman who calls upon his baser possessive male instincts. While secrets are coming to light and enemies are surrounding, Michael can't help but feel his cold exterior melting towards Kate. Michael seduces the reader with his “Man of Steel” persona and rugged, “man on a mission” good looks. He was an impossible character not to fall for even when his caveman side was showing. He just made you want to wrap him in your arms and soothe his troubled side and his sex appeal doesn't fail to cause libido overload.

Brittney packs plenty of suspense and sexiness in her first book in the Hidden Truths series. I cannot wait to read more about these sexy, gun toting, muscled, ex-marines that find love while navigating through suspenseful waters and saving their head strong, beautiful, damsels in distress. I highly recommend for lovers of romance in a world where mystery abounds, sparks of desire ignite, and enemies lurk around every corner.
