Cora is a girl who likes simple pleasures, reading her books and swimming in the local Michigan lakes. She has no idea who she really is. Jett is a guardian of the Halcyon mer-tribe. His job is to find a Lunafriya. He thinks he's found one...Cora. Now he has to tell her a secret her father never told her. She is a mermaid!
Good mermaid tale. Storyline is intriguing and had me turning pages. It would have been better if the change in perspective was a bit more different. Otherwise nice quick read.
The characters are fantastic and all the information about different sea creatures is really a nice addition. The only thing that gets to me is it a continuation and leaves you hanging.
One point that bothered me was how the main characters brushed aside main plots. I would love to know what happened to a few background characters, what the oaths were, and what brought the wars about. Someone, somewhere messed up and I wanna know who! I like Cora, but she doesn’t act 24 years old. Maybe in books 2 and 3 she will mature because of what she’s seen and gone through. Still, she’s a well fleshed out character. I like Jett, there were a few parts of him that could use work, but as a whole he’s a strong character and he cares about Cora and her well-being. A job well done for the author and I am patiently waiting for Sea Storm to see where the story goes.
I absolutely love the story line so far! The characters are super relatable, and the fantasy aspect of the mermaid world was intertwined well into the real world.
The book has repeated chapters under the two different perspectives and that severely slowed down the story and tempted me to pick one of the perspectives to follow. I am happy I didn't though as there was eventually new information presented under both perspectives, so, I hope the author corrects this technique going forward.
Overall though this was a good read, so a solid 4 stars for me.
Characters are great. Having every chapter repeated with a few different sentences ways quite annoying. I want to know how Coral's story continues but honestly don't know if I can stand reading more books written in this fashion.
Very nice twist to a Mermaid tale. Like that it was in one of the great lakes, I have always wondered that about the Michigan lakes they are very mysterious. This is a nice short read. Filled with mysteries and secrets. You really get to see the life of the main character. Nicely done.
This book shows you never know what’s around the corner. It has a enough action and drama that draws you in. Makes you want to see how far they will go.. Highly recommended
