Ajax Stevenson (intelligent green eyes, jet black hair, sharp brows, and million watt smile) isn’t your average man. Oh, he’s cute on a smoking hot level, likes women of any variety and enjoys a night out with the guys; but he’s got an ace card almost no one knows about. Tasked with Protecting the North Pole and all its inhabitants, Ajax feels penned in. With only a day off here or there, he doesn’t have the opportunity to meet anyone he doesn’t already know and that presents a problem for a man who’s interested in settling down.
Ethereal Gibson (fiery red hair, feisty but unsure of herself. Blue eyes the color of glacial water, a small scar near her eyebrow. Nose ring) is your average woman, except that she lives in the North Pole. Well, sort of. She also has a nice condo in the tippy-top portion of Canada, but she sublets it often as she’s almost never there. She tries to convince herself that her reasons for staying at work all the time are natural, but her head keeps reminding her differently.
Ethereal knows exactly why she spends ninety percent of her time at work, even if the boneheaded imbecile doesn’t. Guided more by her heart than her head, Ethereal is just as stuck as Ajax, except for a slight difference; she knows who she wants to be with.
Can Ethereal show Ajax that sometimes you don’t have to look afar to find what’s right in front of your nose? Will a threat to the North Pole and Ethereal in particular show Ajax that what he wants was there for him all along?

Ajax is book one in the bear guard series. This story is short, fast paced and a nice read. I read this book within half an hour and enjoyed the story. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline entertaining. I liked Ethereal. It took me a little while to warm up to Ajax.
The chemistry between Ajax and Ethereal wasn’t instant but it built up as the story progressed. Ethereal really fancied Ajax but he continued to fail to see what was right in front of his face. I did like when he finally realised that he and Ethereal were good together. I liked this story but I found the ending super sweet.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is a nice read.
