The Pact Book II follows Rob and the men of ODA 022 from their battles against the invaders (China, Russia, Iran & Hezbollah) in Colorado to joining the resistance to take back the nation. The men come into contact with other freedom fighters and are taken to the front lines of WWIII.As they spread out to take part in the national battle plan, the team is hunted by Dmitri, a former Spetsnaz-turned SVR operative. His job is to capture the men and inflict as much pain as possible, as Rob learns when he lands in Dmitri’s grisly interrogation. The Masonic connection to the resistance is further explained, as well as a hidden part of Rob’s past that is brought to light with a unique twist. The team encounters things they cannot explain, and are helped by someone from their past who was given unique talents through his time in a classified CIA Special Projects assignment.Rob also meets Natalie, a woman with special abilities of her own to whom he finds himself magnetically drawn. Some of the fiercest warriors from the team are lost or sacrifice themselves on missions in Book II, and the men are given the option of enacting retribution against those invaders who attempted to destroy their nation.
Robert Patrick Lewis grew up in Kingwood, Texas. After graduation from high school he attended Texas State University to pursue a Marketing degree.
Shortly after September 11th, 2001 he enlisted in the Army’s Delayed Entry program which allowed him to finish out his college degree, and a few weeks after graduation he left for Infantry Basic Training at Ft. Benning, GA. Initially intended to be an Army Ranger, he was accepted into the 18 X-ray program, which sent him directly to Special Forces Assessment and Selection after attending Airborne school.

While assigned to B/1/10 he was an operator on Operational Detachment-Alpha (ODA) 022 and was deployed to Iraq, Africa, and Afghanistan, amongst numerous other training deployments around the US and Europe.
After completing his two-year tour in Germany he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) located in Colorado. He was immediately deployed to Iraq after his arrival, and left active duty shortly after his return from Iraq in 2009.
At the end of his time in the Army his medals included the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, NATO non-article 5 medal, two Army Commendation Medals, Special Forces Tab, Combat Infantry Badge, Airborne wings, Iraq Campaign Medal with star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and many ribbons for his exploits with the Army.

The past two days have been filled with reading this book and it's preceding book. I need to leave a review for that one as well as I believe in supporting authors who write such entertaining and thought provoking works of art. I loathe the fact that the next book isn't available but that is a compliment for Mr. Lewis' work. I simply want to know what's next....thanks to the author for his efforts and giving my free time some excitement.
Book 1 in this series was just good enough to interest me in reading book 2. Book 2 was bad enough for me to swear never to read anything more by this author.
The overall story line, that a few dozen special forces soldiers are largely responsible for defeating a massive invasion of the US by Chinese, Russian and Islamic forces, is simply not credible. The mission scenes get increasingly ridiculous as the story goes on, for instance “The Major vs. Creeping Death”. The freemasonry mysticism that detracted from book 1 is exacerbated in book 2 with a steaming pile of goofy New Age mysticism. Those are but a few examples of the series' overuse of tired and shopworn cliches. Guess what? ...the hero loves his brothers-in-arms and loves and misses his kids, as we are told ad nauseum.
The editing and proofreading of book 2, credited to the author’s fiancée, is remarkably bad. Book 2 reads like it was dictated using some antiquated speech-to-text, proofread by someone whose native language wasn't English, and edited by someone with no experience, qualifications, talent for it, or ability to be brutally honest with the author about the many elements that need editing, rewriting or flushing. To top it off, the author wrote his fiancée and incompetent editor into the book as the heroine, complete with superpowers. This is just retchingly bad vanity writing.
Book 1 was reasonably well edited, but the author writes in a forward that his former publisher and he "split ways" before book 2, and that no other publisher or agent showed any interest. That is because the author's self-published manuscript for book 2 really stinks. The only thing that apparently saved book 1 was the editor from his former publisher, and they have understandably dropped him rather than attempting to edit this below-mediocre and unsalvageable dreck.

Great sequel to the first book! GREAT SERIES SO FAR! I cannot wait for the third book to come out. As an FYI for anyone reading this review, I am a big fan of Clancy, Thor, Flynn, Greany, etc. and these two books have been on par with the military thrillers from the aforementioned authors.
To be honest, this series is even more intriguing because the focus is on a Special Forces A-Team and not just one guy (ala Scott Harvard). While I love those books, one guy taking on all comers is not the most realistic scenario in the world. In The Pact and The Pact II the action is realistic, with the whole A Team fighting the enemy, whether to create space to break contact or to lay an ambush on their pursuers.
All around excellent book(s) and I hope you give it a try as I would like to read more from this author!
One more FYI - I purchased this book, I did not get it in exchange for a review, I do not know the author. My point - this is an unbiased opinion from just some dude who enjoys a good military/techno thriller.
A continuation of The Pact trilogy, book 2 really brought in the action and villainous characters. This book centers on the actions of ODA022 during the invasion of the US by outside forces from Russia, China and the Middle East. While the boys of 022 are dealing their own brand of guerrilla warfare all over the country, there are bigger, stranger forces afoot. Loved the introduction of the paranormal into the plot and can't wait to see where that leads in book 3. The book is very testosterone driven with great detail in the fight scenes and a lot of explanation for those maybe not familiar with military action or paranormal studies. Villains are truly heinous. Looking forward to book 3 and how it will play out in other theaters of war. Would really love to see a side novel or two about the various counter-invasions, such as the northern border and the Battle for New York. I feel they would be thrilling.
A little long on the mysticism , but still overall a good read
It's a shame that somewhere during this book military maps showing the forces aligned against the good guys couldn't be produced to show some of our national leaders of what could happen. As far as the sci-fi and mystic portions, "Any technology sufficiently advanced could be regarded as magic by a less advanced society ( With apologies to Dr. Arthur C. Clark) regarding the " Hyper Loop" remember the $10,000 Hammers? Enough what if's...what is remains this book was a pleasure to read and I can't wait for the next book. BILL Hodges I certainly Amazon has enough sense to present the third book without a repetition of what happened to book 1.
The two Pact books are a must read for anyone who has followed history in this country. The author does a good job of stretching the current issues of today into what is a very compelling storyline. Book two delves into some sci-fi that was very interesting if not so easy to swallow but it worked with the story.
Having been in 10th group pre 911 timeframe, it was good to read something that brought back many memories. I look forward to reading the third in the trilogy.
The Pact is a book that's difficult to put down. As a combat at veteran, I can say that the accuracy of the way Robert Patrick Lewis describes the emotion, sights, smells and everything else a person experiences in combat is spot on. There are twists and turns in this book that will knock your socks off. Non veterans should read this book with an open mind to better understand the warrior experience. I'm looking forward to book 3!
Absolutely loved both books! I’m glad I bought both books at the same time because I went to the second one immediately after finishing the first. Now I have to wait ever so impatiently for the third book. And it better be out soon!!! This is a must read for anyone who sees the sorry state of affairs that the politicians are pushing this country towards. American patriots from all over the country need to read these books. More military books written by true military professionals are needed.
I have read both books and cannot wait to read the third. Both books kept me on the edge of my seat. Psychic storyline makes it extremely interesting. The storyline about betrayal by our own members of Congress is really more fact than fiction in my mind. Wish more publicity was out there for people to wake up.
Seriously amazing! I just finished this second book and I am praying for the next book soon! This series has been so well written with characters you love and hate. Our country has been invaded we have reclaimed it with help from our allies. With many losses to the team Rob Bulldog and the rest of the team still have work to do. I recommend that you get reading
Great underlying story to support a science fiction ending
Lewis concludes this story of an all too real description of an invasion of American soil. The battle takes place from coast-to-coast, border-to-border and the victory is rises from average Americans who just "can't take our politicians anymore".
Good read and it's consistent with other novels that delve into a theoretical invasion of North America by China or UN armies from a strategic, tactical and cyber strategic point of view. That said, I was rather disappointed by the insertion of mysticism, religion (Masons? Really?) existentialism into the story.
Battle Hymn of the Republic is the second fast paced action book in The Pact Trilogy written by author Robert Patrick Lewis. Looking forward to book 3.
I'd recommend this book to all my prepped friends. There is certainly more to our universe than meets the eye. This is possible as well as probable. It's a good read and can't wait for more! Hurry up and write FASTER! Please!!!!!
I loved this book! It kept me reading as I could not put it down. Can't wait for book 3of The Pact
I enjoy military books particularly written by ex-military . They tend to be full of action and pretty accurate in describing weapons and military procedures and missions.
The 2nd book of the The Pact. This one I think goes a little off the rails because it shows the Freemasons kind of being the coordinating force behind the resistance. Some things are a little far fetched, like a super underground train reaching for coast to coast and other parts of the country, a freemason seemingly coming back to life and a group of resisting soldier that seem that they are the 2nd coming of the Knights Templar. Not sure if the 3rd book comes out, I will get it but probably will because I can't leave a series before I have read them all.
