Hey everyone!

I'm Nadine, a writer from County Laois in Ireland.

I’ve been writing historical romance since March 2014 and have no plans to stop!

While my heart belongs to Regency, there are a lot of other genres and ideas fluttering around in my brain so who knows what will happen next?!

When I'm not writing I can be found scurrying around after my three children. Or my dog. Or my cat.

I have a brilliant family and wonderful friends who are ever patient and supportive of me.

I'm sometimes asked where my inspiration comes from. I guess it's from everywhere! I love my gorgeous husband to distraction so that helps! I think I also put a little bit of people I know into my characters...so if you know me and you recognize someone... ;)

Have an ever so mild obsession with Jane Austen and have properly researched time machines in case there's one who could take me back to 1800s. Spoiler alert: there isn’t one. My brain might be odd but it's a pretty fun place to be at times!

My writing really took off when my youngest started preschool. So now, while my children are being taken care of by teachers, my characters are being taken care of by me!

To be fair though, I can quite regularly be found at 2am glued to the laptop when I get an idea!

I was looking forward to James' story and was not disappointed. I liked James and Senna, and even thought they have an instant attraction, I felt like they had a natural progression of their relationship. I loved little Poppy, their niece that they're now having to care for together. I liked that Senna got to see the real James, not the perfect "angel" that everyone else thinks he is. I love the relationship between the four friends Robert, James, Simona and Nicholas. Just an overall enjoyable read and a fun addition to the series.

Content: Clean romance, just kissing. Mild-moderate language, mild violence, talk of murder and some peril.

Wow! I loved James’s story! I seriously could not put this down! There was mystery, a bad man, and lots of chemistry!! The Duke of Montvale makes an appearance along with Simon and Nic. I can’t wait for Simon’s story!

Once again Nadine Millard has woven a story that sucked me in full force. We met James in the first book of the Saints and Sinner series, The Monster of Montvale Hall, and were left wanting to know him better. This book is our chance! He has lead a perfect life in the eyes of others- always staying on the straight and narrow. But is he happy?
Senna is on the run for her life, with precious cargo, and believes James is the one who can help her. I loved her strength and determination. And I loved their CHEMISTRY!
I just finished a few heavy books without much light. This was a wonderful palette cleanser. It has a bit of everything - family secrets, romance with a lot of steam, witty banter, a quartet of extremely handsome best friends, and a murder mystery to boot. I am loving the characters and I cannot wait for the rest of the series!!

After reading the first book in this series, I needed to know more about this group of friends.
I do loved James in the previous book, a kind and caring friend who never gives up and is always there to cheer and help those under his care or his friends.
In his story, he is no exception, he is really the angel of Avondale. He spent his life protecting at his best his brother against their father’s ire until he disappeared. Now years later, he learns about the ugliness of his passing and he discovers he has a niece.
And with his new discovered niece, comes her aunt, a woman who steers something new from him.
Senna has left everything behind in a rush to protect her niece, she ran in hurry to the only person she thinks can protect them.
I must confess at sometimes she quite upset me, she runs away, she is angry, she flees, she cries. She longs for things but as the same time she is quite spectator of her life. It is near the end of the story she finally gets a hold of her fate and decides what she really wants.
After I loved the interactions between the group of friends, how they tease one another, stay close and stand for each other.

After reading the first book in this series, The Monster of Montvale which I loved, I have to find out more about this group of men. In the first book, James Harrington, Marquess of Avondale Abbey is the Golden Retriever of the group - he just wants everyone to be happy & he will do everything he can to make them feel that way. Now, in his own story, he is still the Golden Boy but his strengths & honor show through in flying colors.

Senna Baker is an innocent, strong young lady who has grown up in Copenhagen & has found herself fleeing to a place & person with no familiarity to herself. After finding her sister & brother-in-law murdered, Senna runs to keep their daughter safe - she takes her to the Marquess of Avondale, her brother-in-law's brother.

This was such an enjoyable read with all the things I love in a historical romance. The clean story still had such passion plus you found murder, suspense, action, romance, a charming 5 year old girl & all the men in the first book returned to help James & Senna in the dangers they were facing. I highly recommend this book & the whole series for a wonderful & entertaining read!

James Harrington, the Angel of Avondale, was the perfect hero. He was tall. strong, so handsome and had innate sense of right and wrong. He did the right thing by everyone every single time. His friends teased him about being so perfect and told him he wore a halo. He should've. He was a great man in many respects, but what appealed to me the most about him was his kindness. He's a big guy and when he meets his five-year-old niece for the first time, he gets down on his knees so he's on eye level with her and even shakes the hand of her doll, Suzie, and said he was glad to meet her. It melted my heart.

I'm ahead of myself, though. At the beginning of the book, James is pleading with his father to give Thomas, the spare heir, another chance. Thomas is a renegade. He's into trouble a lot, squanders money, gambles...you know the type. His father barely tolerates him and when he's about to cut him off, James intercedes on his brother's behalf. Thomas leaves and never returns. James has no idea where he is or if he's okay and, despite the feelings of their father, truly loved his brother.

So, when he gets a message that his brother is dead, he returns from the Montvale wedding (See Book 1, The Monster of Montvale Hall) and finds he has a niece, Poppy, and her caretaker staying at his house. He assumes the wrong thing about Senna Baker, but from their first meeting, there was instant chemistry.

Senna is a wonderful character. She dotes on Poppy, but considering what they went through to get to Avondale Abbey, it's no wonder. She's instantly attracted to James and can find no real fault with him, but knows her time there is limited. Once he gets Poppy situated, she will have to go back to Denmark and resume her life there.

But nothing is ever so simple. There's a mystery to this story as well as a heck of a romance. I had my suspicions of who the bad guys were and I was right, but it took nothing away from the ending.

This is a clean romance with just a bit of angst, a few kisses, and no love scenes. I didn't mind that because the plot carried itself with great characters. The reason I'm giving it four stars is because there were a couple of instances of wrong words usage (coarse instead of course, allude instead of elude, etc). Still a great read and I'm anxious to continue the series.

*Although this is part of a series, the book can be read independently

James Harrington has always done what was right, what was good, earning himself the title of Angel of Avondale.
Senna Baker never thought she’d find herself running for her life, heading for a place she’d never even heard of, let alone seen.

James and Senna find themselves in circumstance they never could have imagined. And with a niece to protect, it’s vital that they get to the bottom of the mystery they’ve become embroiled in.

James comes home from an extended visit to the Americas to find he has visitors in the form of an orphaned niece and a beautiful young woman he assumes to be her mother. This assumption gets him doused with a glass of wine.

The young woman is related by blood but she is Poppy's aunt like he is her uncle. James's younger brother who was always as bad as James was good was this child's father and Senna's sister was her mother.

Why are this lovely child's parents dead and who killed them?
The only person in the world who knows the answer is a precocious five year old and Senna is determined to keep her niece safe.

I loved this read and finished it quickly. This author is basically new to me. The only other time I have read anything by her was part of the anthology "Yuletide Happily Ever Afters: A Merry Little Set of Regency Romances"

I gave this book 4.75 (rounded up to 5) of 5.0 stars for story line and characterization. This is a sweet romance with sinister inclinations.

I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

This is the first book I read by Nadine Millard and I must say I'm very impressed, I absolutely loved this story!! So well written and it had my attention from start to end.

James Harrington, known as the Golden Boy or Angel of Avondale Abbey because of his blond hair and always doing what is right, has his world turned upside down when he learns his younger brother, Thomas, has been murdered and that he has a little niece called Poppy.

Senna Baker comes upon the bodies of her sister and brother in law, Rose and Thomas, who have just been murdered. She escapes with their daughter, Poppy, and brings her to James for protection. It's instant attraction between the beautiful Senna and the handsome James but they must concentrate on finding out who the killer is.

I so enjoyed the camaraderie between James and his friends as well! This story includes romance, intrigue, friendship, humour, heartache, twists and turns, you name it, it's in there. Giving this a solid 5 rating.

I was given a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is the first book by Ms Millard and am so happy that I have found her. This was a “no sex “ book but it still had passion, murder, suspense, action and romance. I felt the characters worked well together, they related on many surfaces. This book had me hooked on the first page and kept me reading till the end. I also like the secondary characters and look forward to reading the book before and the books that are coming. Ms Millard has set up the next books with great characters. Each future character is different and I am sure they will be exciting. I received this book as an ARC and was very happy to do a review.

I really enjoyed reading the first book in this series and was very interested in finding out more about this group of friends.
I liked James in the first book, he was a kind and loving friend and wants to help in any way he can.
In this book, James doesn't like being called an Angel and being the "good one", his strife over who he is and who he is perceived to be isn't something I enjoyed in the book.
Senna is a strong woman who had to face hard situations and take immediate action to protect her niece. I enjoyed her character.
I am looking forward to the remaining two friends in this series.

The Angel of Avondale Abby (Book 2) By Nadine Milard

Five stars, this is a good book... A mystery and drama, little sensuality..James and Senna in this book it was obvious that they fell in love at first sight...Although they both fought it considering that his brother and her sister were murdered, and James must now raise his daughter.. It's a who done it..Matches good with the ending.

Déjà vu?

I don’t know why but I feel like I’ve read this story before… or at least one that was so similar that I knew what was going to happen almost from the first chapter. Still it was a good story.
However, I think the author needs to find a thesaurus. “Impossibly…” as a descriptive word was over used in both this and the previous one in the series. I’m hoping the trend doesn’t continue in the next two.

Intrigue

The interesting thing about this series is how different the books are from each other. I'm excited to see what the next two hold.

I enjoyed the hero and heroine in this book. There wasn't as much sizzle as the first book, but it worked for this book.

My main critique of this book is the confusing timeline. At the beginning it's almost fall, then almost spring without anything having happened. Then it was spring again a couple months later.

James Herrington, Marquees of Avondale & Senna Baker's story was simply splendid. Shaped by a horrific tragedy, it brings together two very different people in search for the truth. Together they will discovered that they both with do just about anything to protect those they love. Highly Recommend. Happy Reading.

Better than the first book in the series, although it was instalust from the beginning. James was as good as Robert (Duke of Montvale Hall) was dark. By the end of the story, James' frustration made him as dark as the Duke. Senna and Poppy made the story. There is an underlying mystery that was not difficult to figure out.

Even better than the first

Loved this. These are my favorite kinds of books, with either best friends or family members each having their own stories. Even though I figured out who the villains were, the suspense was still interesting.

The angel falls

Thomas is the angel of his friends until he meets Senna. She arrives unexpectedly after sending a cryptic note. The attraction between these two is explosive and the mystery is intriguing.

Quick and easy to read. One of the villains is discovered somewhat early on. I kept waiting to find out how and when he would be discovered without feeling like the story was ruined. Now on to book 3 of the series!
