The Phoenix's Ashes #5

Death of the Demon: Circus of Shifters

Rate this book
You know what they say, when demons get you down…
Chop off their heads.

Like that’s going to work.

We are steps away from finishing this and ending Ceres or Dabria or Fallon or whoever the fu** the baddie is nowadays. It’s getting pretty hard to keep track, I mean they just keep multiplying.

It’s as though the darkness that I thought we left behind with those darn cave trolls has followed us back to Rydaim, to this last Vampire showdown.

It’s going to be a bloodbath.

Jarron may have escaped with his head, but he is the only one that came out unscathed. Drake is lost in a past I don’t remember. Killian is even more testy and grumbly than usual. And he and Zoe might chop off each others heads before we even reach the vampire lair.

And I think I might know why. Of course, I’ll have to die in order to fix it all.

Death of the Demon is the final book in The Phoenix’s Ashes Series.
There will be death! There will be kissing! There will be a whole giant mess...
I blame the demon.
Heads. Will. Roll.

I received an ARC of this book, but this is my honest opinion.

The series started off really well. There seemed to be a lot of difference in power levels between the main characters, but later on we find that she is not quite the innocent teenager in all of this. We find Ellie/Elliot/Elliana growing to become the person she is supposed to be. She has to accept the flaws she has, the mistakes she makes, to finally become the person needed to help world.

The dragons have come a long way, from several alpha dragons that get what they want, they also find some of the character growth in this series. Killian especially is a lot different in the beginning than towards the end. And I really like the character growth in this series.

Now as it is the last of the series I have a few other things I want to mention. The first book is great, two is also still good, but somewhere in book three and four it just drags a little to long, to many different fights to get towards the end. I understand that the author is planning it this way, but for me those two could have been combined and part of it could have been removed to make the whole series a bit better flowing.

Should that deter you from reading this book? No, I still think it is a good series and it is definitely worth a read.

Great way to end things

Really enjoyed this series, how it was all brought together, the bits and pieces through each book until we finally saw the big picture. Loved Ellie, so sassy and rebellious, her guys and how they all fit with her. Even though the last chapter was like a weird but with Callay.

Satisfying ending

So here it is, the finale of all the crap that King Ceres, Parris, Dabria, and other now know villains have dished out. It is an intense, fast paced battle that will leave you emotional and enlightened! This series was so much more than I ever anticipated from Rise of the Witch. You must give this a chance.

First I have to say that I love this author and thoroughly enjoyed this series. Death of a Demon was fast paced, with surprising twists, yet brought all the pieces together and ended very satisfactorily. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because of editing issues. There were just so many in this book, including actually using incorrect words, just like spellcheck so often does. They kept pulling me out of the story. If they would be cleaned up then it would be 5 star for sure.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I thought this was a good ending to the series but thought that it dragged in some places with not a lot of action and just a lot of talking. I was also completely thrown when Ellie d*ed and was reborn where she remembered all her past lives that she still still felt the mate bond with her Dragon Princes’ Killian, Jarron and Drake but then she also felt a bond with their sister Zoe as well. I felt like it completely came out of left field as yes she felt a connection to Zoe before as they were best friends and Zoe had also been her protector but it Ellie mentioned that it wasn’t like the bond of a mate like she has with Zoe’s brothers Ellie. I wish the story would’ve been a bit longer so we got more of their lives after all the fighting and seeing how their bond works. It’s hard to say who my favourite Dragon is but I’m thinking it’s Drake as he’s been the most consistent throughout the whole series, less jealous or possessive of Ellie unlike Killian and Jarron. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

Terrible ending

I binge read all 5 books. I was entertained as books 1-4 progressed (even though for a reverse harem I expected more development in the relationships). But the 5th book went so far off the deep end it was ridiculous. The good guys turned bad, characters went crazy, and then the author threw the sister into the reverse harem with the girl Phoenix. I mean... wth...I just finished 5th book and it has turned me off so badly I will probably avoid the author in all future books. The entire 5th book needs a redo. And the ending—instead of Cally seeking revenge on the unicorn herself, she gets her kid sister, who she keeps calling her the name of her dead child, and goes to get her revenge. And it ends. You don’t even know if she gets it. My mind is blown. Books 1-4 weren’t bad, but take my advise and don’t read the 5th. You will be better off creating the ending you want in your mind.

Great endig

Action packed, characters being revealed was really fun to see develop, and the ending was perfect. Tied up loose ends, but maybe more for the series? Who knows. Not a fan of the homosexuality because i really liked the sisterhood that jad existed before. I wanted to see that bond grow after going through all of those trials together. As always though, the romance was low scale graphic. Finally gettin to see Ellliot im her true self and seeing her sisters from her all knowing perspective was very interesting and the change in pov gave the stroy a twist. I really like having all the different po from characters in this book too. Another great book by Rebecca.

Action that can be a bit slow to arrive

Enjoyed this book some what even tho it did start off pretty slow. It took 2 books for the action to actually start. Then the 4th book slowed it down and made things a bit too much talking. Some chapters end up being full of recaps from the last chapter. It took a bit for me to follow through and continue reading. The last book finally was more like how all the books should have been like. It is a good read but be prepared to skip and skim some paragraphs. Can get pretty redundant.

This book picked up the pace quite a bit compared to the second, third, and fourth books in the series. I honestly almost gave up halfway through book 3. This book was action-packed and overall pretty entertaining. The ending was pretty satisfying for main storyline, but I didn’t care for very end of the book, or the very, very end of the book. If you read it you’ll know what I mean. As others have mentioned, this series had distracting grammatical errors. It could use a thorough going-over by an editor.

Getting ready for battling the true enemies and starting over...

Everyone has destroyed their demons, maybe and made it back to the Forgotten and their city. Though Zoe and Killian now have light and dark in them, which means they can destroy each other. Will they be able to keep from killing each so that they can destroy their true enemies? Can Ellie fix the mistakes she made and kill the demon?

Excellent reading with excellent action, adventure and destinies.

Was a little disappointing end of the series. Still a good read with good characters but too many subplots.

As in earlier books in this series, there were too many grammar, punctuation, and sentence errors that were distracting from the book itself. If it wasn't for all the errors I would have rated the book with 4 stars instead of only 2. The author needs to find a GOOD proofreader/editor and not just rely on a spell checker.

After the previous book in the series I nearly didn’t carry on reading as I found it boring, but I’m glad I did. I never saw any of the plot twists coming at all so that redeemed the series a little for me. I really want to see more after that ending though. It makes you wonder if there is going to be any kind of follow up.
