Scarlet Bay – where passions run deep and surely everyone deserves a summertime treat? Oliver Wynn was fascinated by Meifeng Chan from the moment he was old enough to know what girls were for. Mei was too realistic to ever accept a date with him; Ollie from the billionaire Wynn family and the Chinese girl from the takeaway shop? Not going to happen! Fifteen years later fate has slammed them together. Ollie’s cousin Anna has asked him to keep Meifeng hidden in the family’s new beach-house so her abusive boyfriend can’t find her and beat her up again. Ollie is furious and protective and spoiling for a fight, but Mei is wary and defensive and no way ready to trust another man. They have three long days to keep their hands off each other.

The Scarlet Bay series about the billionaire Wynn family consists of Summer Sparks, Summer Secrets, and Summer Spice.
Her South & Sexy books are set in her capital city of Wellington so she can make use of the beautiful harbor in the plots.
Her Heartlands series follows the girls who live deep in the New Zealand countryside.
Her all-time bestseller is 'Taken By The Sheikh', and there's 'Desired By The Sheikh' too.
She's now writing the Merry Summerfield cozy mysteries - lots of cats and dogs and amateur sleuthing. The first title is Murder in the Aisle, followed by Xmas Marks the Spot, Murder! they Meowed, and Body! they Barked.
For good measure, she's cloned herself! You'll now find some of her books in new, much sweeter editions under the author name of Kerri Peach.
Kris/Kerri is an advertising copywriter and a decor specialist, and the author of 'The Boat Builder's Bed', of which more than two million were downloaded free. Giving away this taste of her work kick-started sales of all her other novels.
Five of her novels are available in Spanish. There's a Spanish version of her website http://www.krispearson.com - click the flags at the top right of it to change languages.
Summer Spice is book 3 of the Scarlet Bay series and a great addition.
Ollie a pilot, engineer, sexy, wealthy Kiwi grew up being attracted to Meifeng (Mei) Chan but due to her Chinese heritage she was not permitted to date anyone who wasn’t Chinese.
Now some 15 years later Ollie is asked to help keep Mei hidden from her abusive boyfriend and remain in the friend zone...which might not be easy as since they are together again he finds that the feeling he had for her when they were younger are just a strong or stronger. Mei feels the same about Ollie but wants to honor her parents...
Ollie is determined protect Mei and show her that he will wait as long as necessary for her to decide that she needs to live her life for herself and not her parents and that love has no boundaries by race or color...
This book...my my my...this book…it swept me back decades as I remembered my brother in a position similar to Olliver’s when he was in high school and then again much more recently to my nephew who is in his thirties who just married someone that could have been Mei in this book. I do believe that race, culture and expectations are still front and center in some groups and this book shines a light a subject all too many may think only occurred in the past...and yet...I believe it still exists today.
Oliver had a big crush on Meifeng in high school and he let her know about it but her Chinese immigrant parents in New Zealand had plans for their children that included Chinese wives for their sons and a Chinese husband for their daughter...Oliver was not Chinese and definitely not for their daughter. Fifteen years later they remember one another well but can they have a relationship or will culture and parental expectations derail them again?
Oliver was a shy smallish boy in high school who must have been a bit of a nerd but boy oh boy did he grow up into a strapping intelligent all-man man a few years later. Mei was tiny and petite but strong, smart, able to get away from home and take care of herself as she traveled the world. She did run into a bit of trouble that landed her with Oliver for a weekend – and – what a weekend they had! Oliver was sure they could have a future but with Mei’s mother ill, bad blood between the families and Mei’s desire to please her parents...would they be find a way forward...together?
I loved Oliver...and I loved Mei. Together they sizzled as they made the fantasies of their youth come to life...and then some! Oliver was tender, caring but oh so much more and Mei was a feisty little thing willing to reach out and take what she wanted if even for only a weekend. Getting their happily ever after took a bit of doing but it was well worth the wait!
If you have read the previous books in the series you will see the couple from those books and catch up with them and if you have not met them before this meeting may leave you wanting more.
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
I love every visit back to Scarlet Bay, both the chance to 'catch up' with old friends and couples but also to join new friends on their sometimes bumpy journey searching for love and a HEA. We have briefly met Mei and Ollie in previous books, but this is the first time we really get to know them, the Red Baron and his fierce Dragon Lady. Neither can deny or resist the sparks between them but with some huge hurdles and a whole mountain of an unknown past event between them and any sort of future this was never going to be an easy journey. But whilst Mei is resigned to have the future her family expects of her, Ollie is determined they should have the future they both want.....together. However after long buried secrets erupt even Ollie is unsure if this is even possible, will this mountain be the one that proves to be too big for them to climb? I was sent this book as an ARC but I loved it and (along with the rest of the series) it will be read again and again.
3. Summer Spice 4 Stars I purchased a copy of the New Zealand set novel Summer Spice: Scarlet Bay Romances: The Wynn Family Billionaire Beach Romances: Book 3 by Kris Pearson and this review was given freely. Realistic characters and problems fill the pages of this slow-burn to steamy romance where a family scandal, fear, and abuse complicate aviation inspector Oliver Wynn and international flight attendant and musician Meifeng Chan’s relationship. Burgeoning romances and multiple weddings brighten the ending. Best if read in series order. 4. Summer Santa 5 Stars I received a free copy of the steamy novella Summer Santa by Kris Pearson in the steamy anthology Baby It’s Hot Outside Romance Collection: A Christmas Down Under by Kendra Delugar et al and this review was given freely. Cute and steamy. A brother-in-law with sister-in-law to more romance where the couple in question are at times socially awkward and unfiltered. Contains some humor, touches of steam, and a heartwarming Christmas Day family moment. Introverted Rebecca “Becca” Wynn is happy with her quiet solitary life of landscape design and plant procreation until she accidentally knocks down her new brother-in-law, the fun-loving but recently injured Antarctic scientist Colin “Mack” Mackay, who decides to play up the severity of his ankle injuries in order to keep her close.
I always enjoy when a book is in a series because you meet back up with family and friends and get to feel like a part of the inner circle.
Oliver and Mei have unexpectedly been brought back together bringing unresolved feelings from their childhood to the forefront. Mei finds herself needing protection from an abusive relationship and Oliver has the perfect place to hide her under his watchful eye.
For unknown reasons, Mei fights Oliver at every turn as he takes his opportunity to finally win Mei for himself. They are so good together and there are some pretty sexy under the sheet scenes, but it seems attraction isn't enough.
I loved the warmth of characters, the struggle for love to win out with a sweet love story, and the way unknown past mistakes were surprisingly brought to light and showed love isn't perfect but worth fighting for.
Summer Spixe is a beautiful romance about Ollie and Mei. They denied their lust as teenagers; but when their paths cross again as adults, will they be deny themselves once again? Throw in a surprise wedding, a baby, hidden desires, domestic violence, an unexpexted treasure, and a deep, dark family secrets, and you have an amazing story! Set in Scarlet Bay, Kris Pearson does an amazing job of making you feel like you are there. So much so, that her beautiful home of New Zealand is now at the top of my travel list!
Excellent contemporary New Zealand romance. The characters grew up together so they were familiar to one another. I love the way the author built the personalities of each character. Ollie is an exceptional engineer while Mei is a well traveled flight attendant from a very conventional and strict Chinese home. I received a complementary copy of this book but chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Pearson.
Summer Spice by Kris Pearson is another thoroughly enjoyable story set in beautiful NZ. A captivating storyline with a few twists & turns. I suggest reading the series in order to get the most out of each story.
I have been fortunate to get to read an advanced reader copy for writing an honest review, and I have to say If you enjoy Kris's books then get your copy of Summer Spice as soon as you can, you will not be disappointed, it has your emotions pulled in all sorts of directions one minute happy the next you could be mad or sad and it has a twist at the end. I feel like I have gotten to know these people of Scarlet Bay they seem so real and cannot wait to meet more of them in future books in the series.
