Five years after the publication of Ignite (Midnight Fire, #1), Kira, Luke and Tristan are back with a brand new adventure in this anniversary novella!
"Kira bit her bottom lip, glancing sideways at Luke... Were they prepared to make a deal with the devil?"
After saving the world from sure annihilation, life can seem a little, well, boring. Kira and Luke are in love and restoring human souls, while Tristan and Pavia are dating and helping to reintegrate those cured vamps back into society. No one is trying to kill any of them... at least, not yet. But when the opportunity to go on a high stakes, life threatening, totally dangerous mission comes up, obviously they're in. And this trip to New York? It just might be their undoing.

Could NOT be more excited about this novella! Revisiting the world of Midnight Fire 5 years after the release of Ignite has been SO MUCH FUN!! If you want to learn more about the novella and the new spinoff series, Midnight Ice, check out my announcement blog post!
I'm one of those people usually thinking that novellas, and especially the prolonged epilogue ones, are not adding much to the story. However, sometimes, very rarely, there is this one novella that does add things and that does make reading them all and giving them all a chance worth it. I was really hoping this novella would be one of those.
Although the series had a very satisfying ending it was quite nice to reconnect with the characters in this book and in this way. It was especially nice to see Tristan and his girlfriend together, as the people they have become now. We never got to see much of them and I'm really glad that was rectified in this book.
I also liked how this book was bridging this series and the spin-off taking place in the same world. It always helps to get invested when old characters introduce us to the new ones. Although we've met the new characters only very briefly and didn't get the chance to get to know them yet, I'm already looking forward to reading their story.
And yes, the last chapter of this novella was incredibly cheesy and not adding too much to the series as a whole, but since the rest of the novella was fun and truly a new adventure that last cheesy chapter did make me smile anyway. I really enjoyed this old school YA series and I can't wait to order the next one so I can start reading it!
I was so excited to find out that there was another installment to the Midnight Fire series because I absolutely loved that series. This is a novella that takes place four years after Scorch Kira and Luke have been spending the last four years helping vampires regain their humanity in Sonnyville, Florida. Tristan and Pavia have been helping those that have been cured to integrate into the world as a human and to catch up on what they may have missed. They are all looking for some excitement and they find in an assignment that will take them to New York. I fell in love with the characters in the first installment and it was awesome to have the gang altogether again. Kira and Luke still very much in love and Tristan and Pavia in a budding romance. I loved the banter between Kira and Luke. So many times I actually laughed out loud. Luke is hilarious. The characters are wonderful. I was so sad when the story was over but it was an amazing ending that made me cry.
Novelette that takes place 4 years after the previous book. Now that a cure for vampirism has been found, there’s push-back from a militant faction of the vamps who’re against the new option feeling that it’s a threat to the society. They’ve been killing those who want to be reborn, so Kira and Luke have been helping vampires who want to be human find their way safely to Sonnyville.
Then Tristan and Pavis help reintegrate them back into human society. When they’re contacted by the head vamp of NYC who offers to back their cure in exchange for a ‘favor’, they cautiously agree.
This leads into the next series ‘Midnight Ice’ and also gives us a very nicely wrapped up romantic ending.
Fave scenes: Kira’s power contest with Tatsuya and the manipulating men theory.
Well... I was expecting that the writing might be a little bit better since this was written like 5 years later? But it was still the same, and it was a bit... disappointing. I'm not saying, it woul be also bad if the novella suddenly sounded completely different, but I suppose I expected to feel a bit more maturity from the writing process.
Anyway, a pretty standard novella, felt a bit unecessary and about nothing, which is why I just couldn't give this more than two stars. But it's not like it was as bad as the first installment of the series.
Great entertaining series. I'm off to get Frost to continue reading about the complex and endearing characters introduced in this book. If you like a fantastic paranormal read this is your series.
A great sequel to the midnight fire series & a starter for midnight ice💕
It was amazing to once more go on an adventure with Luke & Kira! This novella might just become my favorite😍 ... The scene of Luke proposing Kira took my heart away.. so lovely💖
This was a fun novella. The ending was pretty obvious, but I still liked it. I still don’t really connect with the human Tristan, but it was mostly just Kira and Luke.
This was a great novella that filled the gap between Midnight Fire and the Midnight Ice series. I loved hearing Luke and Kira's POV when meeting Pandora. Midnight Ice was my favorite series and I absolutely LOVED everything about it so it was awesome to get more insight into that world from the conduit perspective. The only thing I miss is the original friend group from Kira's high school and I'm curious to know how their stories ended up. All in all, I am sad to leave this adventure but am so happy with the way everything was wrapped up!
It has been a while since I've read The Midnight Fire series, but it was so nice to go back and visit with these old friends! I'm not a huge paranormal reader, so it was unusual for me to pick up this series. But I loved Kira with Tristan and was heartbroken when that ended, but I've always loved Luke so to see Kira and Luke together and to see Tristan with Pavia, it was so great. Another small adventure for them. This is such a great group of characters and I was glad to reconnect with them. This is only a novella, so it's a short story, but it gives us a good short story and an ending that I love!
The final book from my box set. Loved this book. Was just a short novella with the gang. Some exciting vamp hunting and capturing going on. Loved the disappearing Vamp hope Kira somehow help maybe in another book. Loved the ending so excited for them!
