Out of the iron furnace. Three years have passed since the attack in Rio de Janeiro. Eden is missing. Donovan Chase finds himself in a strict government operated program where the subjects are led to believe that they are the only survivors on the planet after a virus known as Rotstau spread worldwide. When things beneath the surface begin to crack and a familiar face visits him, his eyes are opened to the reality of what has taken place and he becomes determined to break out, to re-surface and to destroy the NCDC from the inside out. After a shocking event was broadcast on national TV, two new leaders emerged, one of them who is very close to home but not familiar. With the help of Jayden, Maddox, and a few new faces he is able to find and to lead a new group of underground Tourists back to New York where the promise of a fight is lingering.

Exodus details the near impossible task of disbanding a corrupt government while maintaining a position of hope for those in need of it. With the imminent threat of the virus and the implementation of several power plays by a dangerous new leader, time is running out and the question remains: is it best to stay and to fight a possibly losing battle or to find a way to leave altogether? If the latter, then where does a group of four hundred or more go? Nowhere is safe or truly isolated. The government has both machines and the surety of global support. All things must come to an end. In this third and final chapter, Donovan must face his own past and prepare for the future, all the while readying, yet again, to either lead a war or to find the perfect exit strategy.
