This book was extremely entertaining and engaging. The characters are good and the growth of the plot is well handled. The MC is very interesting and fun to read about, but the secondary characters are interesting as well. The author kept me very interested in the story and I read 90% of it in one sitting only stopping because I had to go to work. Overall it was a excellent book and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
In this instalment, Jack continues to build up his community whilst making plans to bring back civilisation. Using tech of the past to support his goals, Jack and Andi make a surprising discovery that promises to completely upend their previous plans. Meanwhile, the Free Oasis gears up to deal with raiders and impending armies. It would have been nice to learn more about additional characters, update past characters and their progress. It is starting to feel as though the cast may be getting too large, but is still marginally under control. It was also nice to see that Jack is not just an overpowered MC but is subject to human foibles as well. Look forward to next sequel. Minor editing errors.
In the icy realms of HowlStrom, where the frosty winds howl and the snow never seems to cease, I, Kiba Snowpaw, an alpha lone Ice Wolf with a soul as cold as the icy tundra and a heart forged from the trials of a harsh upbringing, find solace in the escape of reading. Today, I delve into the world of "Future Reshaped" by Daniel Pierce, the third book in the "Future Reborn" series. With my ice magic at my side and the experience of a lifetime in RPG, Action, and FPS gaming, I embark on this journey, ready to dissect and evaluate every element of this tale.
Basic Plot Summary
Jack Bowman, a name that echoes with the resonance of unfinished business, discovers a cache of cutting edge technology. With his women, they explore a grim, ever-expanding world. A chance encounter in the open desert unveils a planet teeming with secrets, including a mysterious woman hidden for nearly two millennia. With gun, sword, and wits, Jack is thrust into a world of lost people, imminent war, and the need to reclaim what is rightfully his.
Analysis/Evaluation
The narrative is as cold and cutting as the icy winds of my homeland, HowlStrom. Pierce's storytelling is a dance of words, as elegant as the snowflakes that grace the frozen lands and as piercing as the icicles that adorn our caves. The plot, though, is as unpredictable as the fierce blizzards that often sweep across our world, leaving nothing but a white canvas of mystery and anticipation.
Characters
Jack Bowman is a warrior, not unlike the alpha wolves of HowlStrom, leading with an iron will and an unyielding spirit. His women, as fierce and loyal as the she-wolves of our packs, bring a balance of grace and ferocity. Each character is a unique snowflake, intricately designed, yet part of a larger, overpowering storm of personalities.
Structure
The structure of the book is as solid as the icy grounds I tread upon, each chapter building upon the last like layers of snow accumulating over the long, harsh winters of HowlStrom. The narrative flows, cold and unyielding, drawing the reader into the depths of a world as chilling and unforgiving as the icy plains of my homeland.
Impact
The impact of "Future Reshaped" is as profound as the first howl of a newborn wolf cub piercing the silent, snowy night. It’s a tale that lingers, its icy tendrils wrapping around the soul, echoing the solitude and fierce independence of my own existence.
Hook and Thesis
The hook is as sharp as the icy peaks that adorn the mountains of HowlStrom, drawing the reader into a world where the future is not just uncertain but must be forcibly bent and reshaped to the will of those brave enough to face it.
Praise and Critique
Pierce’s narrative is as captivating as the auroras that light up the icy night skies of HowlStrom. However, like the harsh, unforgiving terrains of my world, it is not without its perils. The character development is as intricate as the patterns of frost on a windowpane, yet at times, it feels as fleeting as the warmth of the sun during the icy winters.
Evaluation
In the icy silence of HowlStrom, where solitude is both a curse and a companion, "Future Reshaped" echoes with the resonance of a lone wolf’s howl, a testament to the unyielding spirit of survival and the relentless pursuit of destiny.
Comparison
As I, Kiba Snowpaw, have faced the icy blizzards and endured the frozen solitude of HowlStrom, so too does Jack Bowman navigate the chilling narrative landscape crafted by Pierce. It’s a dance of survival, as intricate and unpredictable as the icy winds that carve the landscapes of my icy world.
Conclusion
As the icy winds howl and the eternal frost bites, "Future Reshaped" stands as a monument to the unyielding spirit of the warrior, a narrative as cold and unforgiving, yet as beautiful and intricate as the icy realms of HowlStrom. It’s a tale that will linger, like the icy touch of frost upon the soul, a chilling reminder of the relentless pursuit of destiny amidst the icy silence of solitude.
In the icy embrace of HowlStrom, where the frost speaks a language of its own and the snow tells tales of endurance and solitude, "Future Reshaped" finds its echo, a narrative as chilling, unforgiving, and beautifully intricate as the world I, Kiba Snowpaw, call home.
I find Daniel's series rather inconsistent, but I quite like this one so far. Without spoiling things too much, I do have to say that for a former Marine his tactical sense is outright suicidal. [Minor spoiler alert]
I would like to see one of these books end without the MC doing something so incredibly tactically inept that it would wipe out a squad, let alone one guy. Seriously, he's never heard of frags or flash-bangs? Body armour? Sure some tension is good, but it can't be necessary for the hero to be at death's door at the end of every book. This gripe has caused me to knock this one down to a 4, as this is book three and this happens every time.
Yeah, you got your PA harem tropes, but nicely done. And it's a really creative take on the blending of the really old (prehistoric even) and various iterations of the future present. The earth's ecological progression is truly interesting. There are an abundance of serious things for consideration, but they are an undercurrent within a classically entertaining storyline.
So far, Dante gets my vote for most interesting character. Oh horror! Turn Scooter loose and let her have at him. 👼 Hope he ends up doing better than well and genuinely happy.
Good continuation. Liked the harem elements as they aren't over the top. Good fighting, which is my favorite part. However thought some of the new tech was to easy. Don't want everything handed to the MC. He needs to work for it some. Of course this may open more problems later... Other sleeper with nefarious designs. Still want the next book asap.
3 Things 1 Hope you are working on#4 2 If someone is looking for a new movie franchise, "X" marks the spot. Ideal source for r-rated action movie scripts. 3 Overall impression: Time Machine meets James Bond meets Conan. A thoroughly good time. Thanks Bill Hodges P.S. see #1
I am happy to say that the story is getting better and the plot thickens! There is plenty of action and development with current and new characters with a couple twists too. I'm eager to see where the story takes us.
Im so so enthralled about the series this book answer so many questions I can't wait for the Nextbook cuz now I hate a character named Josie and a city called kasso
I enjoyed the adventures that Mr. Pierce has brought forth and allowed me live vicariously through his words. In the first 2 books I was invested in the lives of miraa, Silk and tony but to me there wasn't enough interactive relationship between the group.
This is the sad part of finishing asn excellent story, waiting for the next one to be published. And I must admit that I am anxiously waited ng for book four in this riveting story of mystery and intrigue.
Jack Bowman continues to build and in some cases rebuild the future for the betterment of all. That sounds so dry and this story is anything but dry. Meeting new allies and fighting old adversaries are all in a days work. On to the next in series!
