episode 1 당나귀귀 episode 2 그 선배 episode 3 변화 episode 4 시동 episode 5 물뱀 episode 6 서막
After returning to college from a long break, model student Seol finds herself caught up with Jung, a senior who's also known as Mr. Perfect. Seol feels like her life took a turn for the worse since Jung came into her life... but is he intentionally turning her life upside down?
I'd already watched the kdrama for this (and enjoyed it despite the haphazard ending) but for some reason I'm just really not connecting to the characters in the webtoon so far. There just seems to be a lot and it's like they jumped into all the subplots with the supporting characters without really establishing who they were. The art style is really fun though, as I expected :)
Finished my first ever read in korean 🥳 I even chuckled at some jokes, so I count that as a win! (For the record, I understood only like 60-70% of the dialogue but hopefully I'll understand even more when this semester is over 🤞 but for now, I'm gonna try and be proud of these baby steps).
Cheese in the Trap is a complex story with even more complex characters. However, complex doesn't necessarily mean is particularly well-written or nicely paced.
I've been conflicted since I started it because I've been waiting for something even remotely interesting to hook me, but, sadly, that never happened. Don't get me wrong, there are a couple of situations that interested me, but there wasn't anything of importance that made me feel like I needed to make it to the end.
I made it to chapter 42 before giving up because I honestly couldn't make myself care for any of the main characters. I preferred some of the secondary characters, but not even those could keep me immersed within the story for long. I understand backstories are important in order to give us more context, but some of those read inconsequential. I was also expecting a more mature story and an even greater mystery, but, once again, I was let down.
I wanted to love it like many others but this one just feels like another mundane story that tries to be many things it's not.
Just finished rereading this masterpiece, one of the the reason I fell in love with the media. Beautiful story, fleshed out characters, interesting story telling, & wonderful pacing.
Love that we could all agree that even nearing the finish line Jung is still so sus lol Seol is beautifully written & so humane And I wish Baek InHo nothing but happiness Everyone is on brand. This is introspective & comprehensive, I don’t know what to say except that it is So Good. I hold out hope certain characters stay in touch.
I love the art style (despite preferring more manga like art in comics/webtoons like these), was a little confused about the plot initially but I love the characterisation in this story. There are so many different characters with conflicting personalities and dubious motivations, it’s cool to see a webtoon observe the psyches of characters to this extent. I feel like some of the story gets a little bit lost in translation sometimes but overall it’s very enjoyable. I’ll give this a 3 and a half stars.
I will be using the first Book of every Season to mark my Progress, I fear otherwise it’ll be too many Books and I’ll mess up my Reading Challenge for this Year.
So this is Season 1. This is such a classic, I’ve seen this around so often and have always wanted to pick it up but hesitated because of the length and certain comments I had heard about. However I really enjoyed this, the main characters are very likeable even if annoying at times. I’m curious about Jung and looking forward to see his Progress with Seol :)
3.5 stars- this whole manhwa series is approx 300 episodes, so I'm using the books as markers to track how far along I am (so thoughts will come once the whole thing is finished) I'm treating this first book as covering episodes 0-6
read this way way back, but only now do i see the pride & prejudice dynamic between seol & jung!!!!!! yoojung remains to be a veeeeery interesting character. would love to study that man’s brain under a microscope.
I remember reading the first season of this webtoon when I was in college but wasn’t able to read the second one because its English translation was still on-going.
I used to like it, though I’m not sure if I’m still willing to reread S1 so I can read S2.
I’m not reading this on the webtoon app, so I don’t know if it’s the translation or just how it is but it feels so weird, also there are too many annoying characters. I’m gonna carry on reading tho
