Wow, what a strange book. I was really ready for some happy stories, not stories about cancer, dementia, divorce, poverty. Yes there were a couple happy stories but 99% of these stories are sad and depressing. Sheesh. An example, Mom was always poor, never made over minimum wage, died alone in a nursing home after a lengthy illness, never got to do anything on her bucket list but she was always cheerful and there for me. I must be weird bc I don’t think that’s a happy story. So beware if you bought this thinking it will cheer you up. It’s full of tears and downers but I guess some people like to cry.
I expected a book with an elephant wearing sunglasses and drinking a fruity drink to be more uplifting. But most of these stories were depressing. There were a few that I liked that got me thinking about how I need to be more positive.
One of my favorite Chicken Soup books; we need more positivity in this world and these essays demonstrate how gratitude and a change of attitude can help you through tough times.
Found some favorite stories and life lessons within this book. I wrote them down in my bullet journal to look back on more easily. Gave it 4/5 stars just because not all of the stories were mind-blowing, but I feel bad saying that considering part of the title of this book is “Think Positive.” I’m sure the stories that I wasn’t touched by may have touched someone else, though. However, I am inspired by all of the people who submitted stories for having the courage to share a piece of themselves.
Chicken Soup for the soul: Think Positive, Live Happy: 101 Stories about Creating Your Best Life is a good read. Everyone has his or her own story to tell about his or her life. Amy Newmark and Deborah Norville did a good job. This book is my first time reading from them. I would love to read more encouraging words and journey from them.
I’m going to call this Vegan Chicken Soup for the Soul! I always love these stories, though. I was feeling particularly crushed and downtrodden with the weight of the pandemic and all that the year 2020 brought. This book helped me cope with some of the tougher times and walked me into what I hope will be a better year for everyone.
From all of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books I've read, every book is five stars. They take true stories from random people, including me-though not in this book-and take the best stories that fit the title. I love each one!
