Accompanying her father to Los Angeles on business, Nancy learns about a long-unsolved murder of a beautiful movie star and so uses her sleuthing skills and the help of her new friends to investigate old clues to crack the case, in a media tie-in with a full-color insert of movie stills. Original.
Well... It's like Daniela Burr has given us bookworms a free script of the wonderful movie. The movie too doesn't disappoint. It's a must read for Nancy Drew fans
I remember not really understanding the movie when I was a kid, so hopefully reading this before rewatching should help. It has more tension and atmosphere than I expected it to, especially considering it's aimed at kids.
Don't mind me a die-hard Nancy Drew fan who of course loves a film adaption of the sleuth and had to read the book version. My mom bought this book for me at Libby Lu (iykyk) when I was 9. I came across it recently and had to read it. It's basically just a script of the movie, but I don't care. If you know me, I love this movie, and the book version makes me so nostalgic, bringing me back to my childhood love of solving mysteries and my once-upon-a-time crush on Max Thieriot, who plays Ned!
Nancy Drew, A Novelization of the hit movie. Simon Spotlight,Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing Division, New York.
I would say that this could be a good book for Year 3's and up. This could be used as a read aloud in the class or it could be used as a reader for those children who want to read more and faster than other students. Seem these can be bought in a series, then it can make it exciting to the faster reader allowing them to read more stories.
Another story by the young detective who by her fathers fears is asked to take a break from solving mysteries. They are moving town and her dad hopes to change some of the paths of life they have been in. As they shift to a new town, they all of a sudden find themselves into a mystery solving problem again. As usual Nancy is on it, finding clues, checking out people, and investigating the very odd happenings in the house and area they have just moved into. The story grips you as soon as you start to read, making it an easy book to read. Bringing in the mystery more or less straight away, with things happening that are very odd and a bit scary.
I chose this I think because I too like to read and watch mystery stories. I remember receiving a book award of a mystery book, I kept trying to read that book for ages. I don't necessary remember the story, but it was gripping. I think that is what I enjoyed about this little book. Nancy Drew seems to relate to the girls a bit, as it breaks the stereo type of males being the detectives and in control. This gives girls the control through the story that girls can do this too. Although these stories are mysteries they are gentle, not too scary as some of the previous male dominated sleuth stories, there is an answer, and often takes time but it can be solved with out too much blood and gore.
I could read this out in a class, as it is not to threatening to those children who are a little more sensitive in personality.
These little books help to teach problem solving when odd things happen around you. Although gentle and girl based, it does include boys within the story, so it can also relate to boys.

Review: Since I've always like the movie better than the book, I decided to give this a try.
Things I Loved: This whole book was based on the movie, which was a different perspective for me considering I mostly read books that start out as books and then are turned into movies.
Thingd I Hated: The exclamation point punctuation was used far too may times, and the writing style felt a little rushed and elementary. Plus, the photo pages from the movie were placed all together randomly in the middle of the story, which was really weird.
I'm actually really surprised I even have the Nancy Drew movie novel. I don't remember enjoying the Nancy Drew movie. I was never a huge Nancy Drew fan, and I usually only buy movie novels of movies I enjoyed. Oh well. If I didn't like the movie, I'm not going to recommend the movie novel. A film is never improved by its novelization.
Gave it only 4 stars because it is a teen book, and it only took me an hour to read it. LOL But it was good and made me want to see the movie when I thought before that it might be too "young" for me.
This book is so adventurous i love it!! And the movie is great to. I love the mystery and how she gets away when captured and all the secret compartments in the new house.
