This is the 2nd book in the Society Weddings Series and tells the story of Alessandra Mondelli, sister of Rocco Mondelli, whose story appears in book #1, The Italian's Deal for I Do, written by Jennifer Hayward, which I liked immensely https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

I was looking forward to Alessandra’s book, having liked her in the previous book. A beautiful and successful fashion photographer, she finds herself pregnant after a one night stand with one of her brother’s best friends, gorgeous billionaire Greek tycoon, Christian Markos.

So she tells him about the unexpected bambino or bambina on the way…..oh no….he’s gonna be in BIG trouble when her brother discovers that his best friend deflowered his beloved sister!!!!

Christian has to do the right and honorable thing…..
 photo tumblr_inline_n6b2euR51y1rbr9or_zpsnzel5mi9.gif
He tells Alessandra that she much marry him so he can give his name to the baby and also be good parents.

Poor Alessandra….she’s fallen like a log in love with Christian….but he!!! Well, not so much…even if at all…but he has to stand by his mistakes….like having a one night stand with best friend’s sister!!!! How good of him!!!!!

In between the drama involving Alessandra’s brother – he’s not prepared to accept her decision to marry Christian and he now hates even the mention of the Markos name!!!

Talk about problems…but wait….they continue to crop up at every corner!!!! And all created by these two people who seem to have nothing in common……oh wait….one thing they do have in common…..great sex together!!!!!

Christian whisks her off to his Greek villa and surprise, surprise!!! He’s falling in love with this beautiful woman!! Okay, so tell her how much you love her!!! But no, he starts having insecurity problems…
 photo images203_zpsn2qxct0h.jpg

Rising from the streets of Athens to becoming a zillionaire, he stills retain the mentality of not being good enough …..
 photo download_zps906vpn1r.jpg
. Alessandra comes from Italian aristocracy and how can someone like him ever come up to her standards.!!!! Oh man get a life…
 photo images 2_zps7jtbgpvd.jpg

And it’s not only Christian……….Alessandra does such a good job at coming to the conclusion that he could never love someone like her!!!!! She even tries to set him up with some blonde bimbetto. Not kidding!!!!
 photo images_zpsdbbvk07j.jpg
I felt that they had any chemistry together….passion….where????
The story just dragged on and on with nothing much ever happening.

Originally I was going to rate this book 1 star and the only reason I gave it 1,5 stars was because of the scene where Alessandra throws a tantrum and has a pate throwing match , with Christian barely escaping some damaged…..yes, he ducked and plates hit the walls and floor instead of him!!!
 photo download202_zpsrqpzpxmq.jpg

I am sure that there are some readers who will enjoy this story….but for me….just did not do it!!!!

All my favorite themes were in this book: virginal heroine, alpha tortured hero, marriage of convenience, unexpected pregnancy and a great HEA. My only complaint is that the plot was moving a bit too slow at times.

Pure addictive passion, romance of the most sensual kind, words that flow like magic and characters so vividly brought to life they seem to be people we have know for many years, those are just a few of the descriptions I can use when speaking about the new Michelle Smart read.

The story tells of the gorgeous Greek Christian Markos, long ago he swapped the streets of Athens for the world's top boardrooms, now he has enough riches to indulge in his every whim, except one. He can't buy it, but he can take it! The only trick would be to let go of it and not want to own it forever, it's doable, right?

Wrong one forbidden taste of his best friend's sister, Alessandra Mondelli and he is lost in her magic, but he's always been all about get the task done and get out, it's what keeps him alive and living more than comfortably. But then Alessandra announces she's pregnant with his child! This is one deal he won't be walking away from, ever.

Alessandra knows about pain, hurt and anger after a youthful mistake , it was public scrutiny she never wanted yet could not avoid. Christian offers her and their baby protection, but she must push all thoughts of love aside, except their dishonorable hunger for each other is threatening the convenient arrangement, is there any hope ?

I love Michelle's books and every time I know am in for a excellent read, but what I did not expect this time around was that she took her writing to a very new level of excellence. There were little twists and turns I could see coming , but instead of going the normal way I would expect it to run in a HP read, it went into directions I never imagined, and I could not have been happier.

The author weaved this journey of two souls that always were meant to be together, into a absolutely unbelievably journey of hope, compassion, a romance blossoming during a time of self discovery and heartship

I fell head over heals in love with both main characters , I wanted to see them be pushed to their limits and the author delivered this on each and every step of this remarkable read. I got to experience every emotion, every touch, felt every word whisper across the night sky as the author brought to life a romance so strong, so needed and so real.

I am taking away a message of life has little ways to push us into a corner we would rather run from than stand around taking hit after hit, but with no way out the only action you need to take is to hit back, keep going until you are freed.

I highly recommend this read for all fans of romance, and if you have never read any of this author's books then my dear reading friends you are missing out on journeys filled with pure magic and vital to keeping our romantic hearts beating.

Pregnant by a one night stand is one of my least favorite tropes, but this one redeemed itself by having the H/h know each other before their ONS and the fact that they were equal in the distrust department.

Virgin photographer heroine had a ONS with her brother's best friend two weeks after her beloved grandfather's funeral. Heroine had been on ice with men since she was accused of having an affair with a married man when she was 17. She was from a prominent Italian family and the tabloids milked the story from a photo of a kiss.

Hero is a bootstrap billionaire and had a horrible childhood with a horrible mother who is a still alive. It was a good move by Michelle Smart to have a scene with the horrible mother. That did more to understand the hero than flashbacks or the hero trying to explain himself.

The H/h meet again at the heroine's brother's wedding. The heroine lets him know about her six week pregnancy and the hero insists they marry. Hero knows the brother will be angry and he is. He punches the hero in the face.

The rest of the story is the H/h coming to terms with their feelings and overcoming their fears of love and intimacy based on their lousy parenting.

The H/h did a lot of denial and deflection which was on the verge of being tiresome until they both got a clue. I think what irked me the most was the brother's attitude about his "baby" sister hooking up with his friend. It's none of his business. Period. End of sentence. She's 25, independent and able to live her life. Spare me the sexist big brother nonsense.

Normally I would be raving about this type of plot- playboy hero/virgin heroine gets pregnant...drama! But the storytelling fell flat. There was no sizzle between the hero and heroine. And I couldn't warm to the heroine to care about her hea.

A DNF.

This is a book that I would not recommend. There were times I just wanted to shake the hero, and heroine, and say wake up, and face what you are feeling.

Alessandra's mother died when she was born. Her father became bitter after losing his wife. Alessandra was raised by her brother, or the wait staff. She grew up with money, but always felt she was in the way. Christian grew up with his mother. they were dirt poor. So poor they couldn't afford shoe laces, or food. His mother became one bitter, cold person after his father walked out never looking back. Both Alessandra, and Christian thought of love is a person being bitter after they had their hearts broken. They never wanted to turn into their parents.

What frustrated me the most, is the two really did love one another. They had sex one time, she got pregnant. They agreed to marry for the sake of the child. the next time they made love was the wedding the night. It was magical. the feelings that Christian felt scared him, and he pulled away emotional. He made up reason to take business trips, or work late. When he started coming around, he wondered why his wife also pulled away emotional. It was months after the wedding until the two made love again if I remember correctly.

It took forever for the two to finally realize the love they had for another. They did make it work on the last chapter of the book. So basically the whole book was two people running scared of what they felt.

I've read two books in this miniseries and thus far I've not been impressed by either one. Maybe it was due to the authors given characters and story lines then needed to follow for this series and there in by not creating their own material that would become attached to or feel that it was their own baby. That could have reflected in how the story came across as well as how it was written. And since they seemed to not connect with it nor did I.

Here some thoughts on this book in bullet point fashion:

First off I didn't connect with Christian or Alessandra. They weren't appealing to me as characters and kind of felt all over the place. They didn't have that root ability factor or a "real" type of feeling or as I would call it a three dimensional factor. They were just words on a page. Not a person with real thoughts or emotions or not on a deep meaningful level that would have made me feel for them. I couldn't really understand them as characters because they were all over the place. They didn't make sense individual or as a couple and with their feelings changing so quickly it felt unbelievable.

Yes the romance was so unbelievable which is a no-no in a love story. There was really no development of their romance nor any big romantic moments to show they were falling in love with one another. It didn't feel real or that they were in love. The realization just came on so quickly for both it didn't make sense.

There was no real sexual chemistry or tension in the book or more accurately it was brief. It wasn't that sizzling tension and friction that I enjoy watching play out in the book. It was nonexistent almost. Granted that there were dealing with the news that's she was pregnant which basically took up a majority of the book and the romance and sexual tension took a back burner to it all. I really didn't feel the heat between the two until right before their wedding and that was too long. It needed to be felt through the whole book and not just stuck in there when the wedding night came. I didn't really feel that want in them for each other.

The lack of love scenes I didn't like either. There was just one. Guess I shouldn't be surprised especially with the lack of sexual chemistry and tension between these two because there was practically none but I was. I thought after their wedding night then there would be more to follow. Up the steamy factor but that wasn't the case. I think I needed more of those intimate scenes so I could see their connection both physically and emotionally but not the case once again. It was needed I think not pushed aside because that increased distance between them and they needed to get closer so their love would be believable.

I also think the first time scene should have been shown and all that was going in that moment. I wanted to be shown not told. I like seeing first time scenes especially when she's an innocent.

I did like the fact they had a backstory together with him being her brother's best friend so there was lots of potential conflict wise but it was excited right and felt inconsistent like the fact that she had a crush on him all these years. I felt that no way in the story until she said it. It took me back a bit. That could have been used to emotion and angst to the book. I wanted to feel the deepness and the rawness of it all. There was a whole well there but it wasn't used. This could have made the story over the top in my eyes.

Just everything emotional and angsty was very bland and barely even there. It could have gone deeper I thought. I wished I felt more of their pain instead of just reading words on a page. They both had real, deep seated issues going on with some of their issues being of a similar nature which I suppose was to make them bond. These issues could have been explored more. I wanted to feel the pain but I just didn't. There was much rich material there and it kind of was linear instead of the up and down roller coaster it could have been.

Bottom line: I just didn't feel an awful lot while reading this. It was bland and too fast pace especially at the end when revelations were made. It didn't feel believable. It didn't touch me. It didn't do a lot for me. A majority of the first half was boring and last third rush. Favorite part was the wedding and wedding night because it got a tad juicer. It wasn't unreadable nor was it a favorite of mine.

Hopefully the other two in the miniseries are better than the first one I read. I can only hope right?

An Italian feisty h and an Alpha Macho Greek....BOOM! They were explosive...No wonder the h got pregnant when they first came together. The H came from a poor background and saw himself as some 'slum rat's and viewed himself as 'not good enough' for the Rich princess. As a character who worked ten times as harder than his uni friends to become a Billionaire I would assume he would have had some pride and arrogance but he didn't obviously a telltale sign he has feelings for the h. Both can from different backgrounds both were ignored by their single parent and were accused of being the cause of losing the other . This connection drew them close. I found it hurtful when the H confessed he was never told by anyone he was loved, despite sleeping with so many women.

I enjoyed Christian and Alessandra' s story. I loved the the scene where She was in a tantrum and made her cutlery missiles to Christian when he told her He chose her to be his wife, she knew he was 'force's by her pregnancy. Her frustration and unhappiness finally became a warzone. The distance Christian created between them broke his armor and forced him out. Truly amazing and different!!

Heroine was very headstrong and I respect the hero for respecting and accepting that quality in her. Medium angst but I loved the way they found each other and worked for their marriage. Both came from dysfunctional family but that didn’t make them bitter. Epilogue was so cute.
Safe and recommended.

Alessandra´s had a crush on her brothers best friend since youth, and when she gets the chance to taste, just one night, she can´t resist.
She never expected there to be any repercussions.
Christian can´t forget the wonderful night he spent with Alessandra, and when fate steps in to give him a second chance, he´s taking it with both hands.
Fast paced read, contemporary romance and smutty fluff in a great combo.

I agree with reviews describing it a slow romance.
The story starts with h already pregnant with H's baby and the plot basically deals with them discovering whether what they feel is merely marriage for duty/lust or.... real love.
Character development is quite good - lot of inner monologues to show their feelings and emotions.
I felt a little frustrated but the "extended epilogue" made up for my expectation.

Book Two in the Society Weddings series. Christian and Alessandra are introduced in book 1 with just enough details to make me curious so purchased this as soon as I could, especially after reading the excerpt.

First thing I loved about this story is the fantastic start to the story, Alessandra is the little sister to Book 1's hero, Rocco. His three best friends know that the beautifully stunning Alessandra is 200% off limits but one night Alessandra acts on her simmering attraction to Christian and boom - firecrackers are shooting everywhere. Given the title you can guess that as a result of the amazing magical night Alessandra has some unexpected news for Christian. Due to his upbringing he swears no child of his will ever go through that and insists on marrying Alessandra, but prior to that - they must tell Rocco. Which brings me to the second reason why I loved the book - telling Rocco the news. Loved this part, so so brilliantly written and true to form how a big brother would act.

The Greek's Pregnant Bride is swept me along on such an emotional rollercoaster that Michelle Smart is so clever at doing. It was so passionate and the background stories fitting in well. I was on the ride all the way. I really loved Alessandra, she has a lot to contend with, her father, her grandfather, her brother and now Christian, not to mention trying to build a career as a professional photographer. Being pregnant and not knowing what the future holds except knowing that she's developing more and more stronger feelings for Christian while he is more and more rejecting her.

Well written, a fabulous read, especially if you love emotion and intensness, drama and beautiful locations. Strong characters and wonderfully woven and connected stories. Very much looking forward to Stefan's story, especially after reading an excerpt of he and Clio, and knowing that Zayed (from book 4) is telling Clio he knows something's wrong and he doesnt have to give her away to Stefan.

Thank you Michelle, another fantastic fantastic story xx

4.5 from me

I had began this series and decided not to read Book Two. But a month or two passed and along with the second reading of book one, I decided to give it a go. I should have followed what the other reviewers suggested. It was not a good book and I despise when it's filled with womanizers and man-whores.

This book is about Rocco's sister who was our Hero in book one. His sister spent a night with One of Rocco's best friends and is now pregnant. They get married but it is only a Marriage of Convenience.

It was sad how it was all handled. It took until the last page or two for them to admit their feelings to each other. It was just too sad and I cannot recommend it.

Such a great premise and then so disappointing in its execution. It made no sense. Alessandra became a shrew and Christian was an idiot. They loved each other but pretended otherwise. I normally love this writer’s books but this one was so disappointing and such a waste of an opportunity for what should have been an emotionally satisfying story.

Christian Markos grew up on the streets of Athens but now has enough wealth to indulge in whatever he chooses except the sister of his best friend. Alessandra Mondelli had made a mistake years ago that put her under painful scrutiny so she avoids putting herself in the position of being judged again. However a one night stand with the last man she should be with has consequences that can hurt her all over again. Christian makes an honorable proposal to protect both her and their child at first she is hesitant then realizes that she needs to protect her child for fear that like her mother she may die giving birth. Their marriage is wonderful till he realizes that Alessandra is in love with him and he must not allow that to happen. He feels he is dirty, unworthy and unlovable. Its her brother Rocco who tells him to Remember to live that makes him go to Alessandra and declare his love. Such a wonderful story to curl up to and sigh

The Greek’s Pregnant Bride by Michelle Smart was a well written marriage of convenience romance and sudden pregnancy romance. Alessandra was introduced in the first book and her match with Christian was very much implied in the same. She was an adorable character who had suffered in the past due to public scrutiny. Christian is an alpha tortured hero who feels he is unworthy of anyone’s love. I loved him and it was so beautiful to see him fall in love with a worthy woman.

The romance was emotional and passionate due to the amazing chemistry the characters shared. The pacing was a little off with some parts dragging a little bit but the author’s awesome writing and an amazing sensual romance made the whole ride an enjoyable one.Read More

They are compatible. In body and mind.

Neither of them wants entanglements of romantic love and marriage is imply not on the cards but Christian and Allesandra embrace marriage for the tiny miracle they had created together in an unforgettable night.

Holding themselves back, giving their spouse a reason to believe the other was unhappy these two lose their heart to each other.

Will they realise in time the importance of their better half in time or is paradise far away.

Knowing it is a Romance, they will definitely cross all hurdles to read their happily ever after but those hurdles are what make this story one full of compassion.

I was on pins and needles while waiting for this book....Where do I start?

As much as I tried, I just could not empathize with the h, to the point that I truly didn't care if she got the guy or the HEA.

And the H? My heart went out to him, not only for getting possibly the worst heroine, but having to now deal with what basically is a one-night-stand gone wrong. Anyhow, notwithstanding that this book disappoints, I still think Michelle rocks. Check out her other books, particularly 'The Sicilian's Unexpected Duty”.

It was ok. I would like to think they would have ended up together if heroine hadn't gotten pregnant, but the hero and heroine each had childhood trauma that prevented them from even wanting to entertain any sort of commitment at all. The baby made them put aside their aversion to marriage and put the baby's needs first.

I liked that hero was celibate since the first time they slept together (6 weeks) and didn't want to sleep with anyone else even though heroine told him he could (requested he be discreet though).

I liked that the heroine was wealthy and could take of baby on her own if need be and didn't need hero. She was a bit too prickly and argumentative at times, she was arguing just for the sake of telling him she won't be told what to do rather than for a good reason.

While I liked that heroine pulled away from hero when he basically rejected her after their wedding night together, I didn't love when heroine pushed him into hiring another woman to work so closely with him while fully expecting him to sleep with her.

Hero's reasoning for pulling away from heroine after their wedding night was shown and I understood, however his realization that she was pulling away from him and him putting in the effort to be there for her was missing. It time jumped from him wanting to distance himself from her to him being home at reasonable times, trying to talk to her and wanting to go where she went.

It was told from heroine's POV that he started coming home at a reasonable hour and how she started to trust him, but it wasn't shown so it felt unreasonable for her to trust him so much while she believed he had or was going to sleep with the woman she pushed him into hiring. It would have been nice to see him earning her trust vs being told he had earned it off page.

It was well written and I wanted to like it, however I didn't feel the chemistry was all that strong between them, hero decided not to sleep with heroine and didn't even kiss her for months. They didn't have instances of almost doing anything, they worked and only talked a little bit for months. If there wasn't a baby they may have thought of the other occasionally but neither would have made move to do anything about the attraction and he would have been back to sleeping with tons of women.

Can I just say Christian is stupid he didn't want to be like his father/mother so he pushed away Alessandra to protect her. Although he just hurt her. I hat when guys (or girls I guess) think this way all your doing is what u did not want to do sincehe feel like a gutter rat. Self-fulfilling prophecy! Of course they talked out their problems/feelings and fixed the problem because they LOVED each other! :D

Grudgingly giving 2 stars because I finished it, a hard slog. Boring story about people I hope never to meet. Successful in all worldly ways, believe in nothing and are emotional cowards. Why? Family issues. Daddy left/didn’t love me, mommy died/blamed me, boo hoo, poor little me. Get over yourself. We all have family issues, even we who had loving parents. Deal with it.
