Books 1-4 in the International Bestselling Badlands Series
Mayhem. Anarchy. Lies. Love. Chaos. Bloodshed.
Savages (Book 1) Calista "I am the monster they created. I’m the whore they’re ashamed of."
When life tried to break me I grabbed that b*tch by the throat and squeezed.
I thought I could overcome anything. I swore I could handle him, but after being forced to play at the Devil's playground I ended up craving his touch.
One taste of his poison made my loyalties begin to waiver.
Romero "I’m a living nightmare, I’m everything they fear."
I’ve been called the Devil, deranged, and a savage.
I lived by a code created by rebel souls. We were sinners and thieves that made no apologies for taking whatever the f*ck we wanted.
Saving a girl in the woods was never part of my plans, but when I saw the crazy in her eyes I knew it was a match made in hell.
Now secrets are piling up, the bodies are rotting, and time is running out to finish what I started.
Forewarning, our story is more than a little f*cked up.
There is really no one out there like Natalie Bennett- she writes the darkest of dark, the truly demened and depraved. These aren’t stories for the average romance lover- there isn’t anything sweet or redemptive here. Natalie writes characters who are unredeemable- deviants, murderers, psychopaths, and villains. Her stories She’s unapologetic about these savages- she revels in the demented monsters she’s created.
The themes are dark, and to some triggering- the Badlands is a dystopian world where violence and horror reigns supreme. Humanity and the social mores of modern society are long since obsolete. The world as we know it is over run by the twisted politics of depraved gangs and dangerous factions. Cults, cannibals, devil worshippers, and religious zealous run amuck. The only law is that there isn’t one- so you better be at the top of the food chain.
Our cast of characters are not heroes- they are the monsters that rule this new society. Demigods who are worshipped by their followers and the women that are somehow strong enough to survive and stand beside them. It all begins with Romero, the Devil, and Callista- our first two books introducing us to the queen and her king and this devious and depraved word. From there we follow and Arlen and Grimm and Cobra and Blue, Romero’s right hand men.
This is pitch black dark, readers- triggers abound. Violence, murder, cannibalism, rape, abuse, dubious consent, pain play, etc, etc. Take note - this is not sweet romance, it's not even romance persay- there is a lot of horror here. But, if your stomach is up for it and you have a twisted mind- this is such a wild and intriguing ride. Confusion, twists, intricate plots, misleading character motivations, and kinkery abound.
Natalie is always who I turn to when I want to push my boundaries- and she doesn’t just push them, she demolishes them completely. Everything in this world is just so messed up. Natalie is a brilliant world creator and truly a twisted mind- so again, only pick this up if the darkest of dark is something you can handle.
1. I’m not mad at it in the slightest, but this is definitely not a story for everyone. That should be unsurprising, since none of Bennett’s are. However, I really enjoy the dark, demented trip through these Badlands, and can’t wait to go back. Story was really good, there were a few scenes that made me a tiny bit queasy, but I expect that. All in all, I’m moving onto the next book with a smile on my face and confusion in my brain.
This series just gets better. Everything I thought I knew, we tossed right out the window. R & C are the perfect match made in Hell, ready to rule, no matter what it takes. I was real glad for some of the revelations, made me feel a little better, although not much. Let’s just say, I’d never want Bennett to be the dictator of what my nightmares consisted of, bc I’m not sure that I would survive the gore.
Again. Nothing like I was expecting from this series. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Arlen when we first came across her, but the more I saw her, the more I liked her. What happened, sucked. But the aftermath was just so good. Bring on the blood, pain and most importantly, Death, in the form of Grimm. We’re collecting soldiers on our way to war, and it’s gonna be an epic one.
4. I had many questions about the last Savage, and if this didn’t put the bow on the whole bit, I don’t know what would. We got to see the end of an era as well as the dawning of something new. I definitely wasn’t prepared for the twists that we’ve encountered along the way to be quite so twisty, but at the same time, when it was all over, all my lingering doubts were gone.
Natalie does it again. I was slightly hesitant on reading this series and man was I wrong! These are by far my favorite couples she's written about. It's still your basic Natalie Bennett book but I feel like these couples are the most romantic. Like they truly are soul mates. At some points, it even reminded me of my husband and i! Such an absolutely amazing series!!!!
I Give this Boxset an Overall 3-3,5/5 Star Rating, Listing as 3. Each book has been individually rated as well. It feels like there were many opportunities in this Boxset that were wasted. And the last 2 books pretty much felt like wasted spaced, which is truly heartbreaking for me to even say cause I Love Grimm & Cobra.
Book 1 - Savages: I Give this Book a 3.5-4/5 Star Rating, Listing as 4. HEA(?): No Cliffhanger(?): Yes Dark: 3/5, I am an avid Dark to Extreme Dark reader, so this book may and will be darker for others. To me the book could’ve actually been darker, but as Book 1 this is a pretty good introduction to dark. Dark Heat: 5/5!!, Now that’s what I’m talking about! There’s is some serious good scenes in this Book. Heat: 3-3.5/5 Attraction Rating: High, but it not necessarily a romance (at least as of yet). Drama: 3-3.5/5 Suspense: 3/5 Pacing: Very good pacing. Relationship Type: MF No Spoilers. I am a bit confused over relationships among Grimm, Cobra & Romero in this book, because it’s a bit too vague to decipher.
Book 2 - Deviants I Give this Book a 4-4.5/5 Star Rating, Listing as 5. Cliffhanger(?): for the series, it continues into the next book. But for the couple, it’s an HEA. HEA(?): YES :) Dark: 4-4.5/5, This may be darker for others though :) it feels like the a darkness factor was a bit censored/glossed over at times. Dark Heat: 4/5 Heat: 4/5 Romance(?)/Attraction(?): Definitely Romance!!, 3.5-4/5 Drama: 4/5 Suspense: 4/5 Pacing: Very Good Pacing for the Most Part. Everything flows good until there is a specific death scene for a very evil character that didn’t live up to >My< expectations, it was lackluster & not focused on at all really, which didn’t fit the rest of the book. It honestly felt like a hurry up and get it done. But other than that the rest of the book is really good and flows correctly.
Relationship Type: MF Just finished reading Book 1, it very easily flows right into Book 2. Major Twist in this story that was very surprising. Seriously this is really good!
Book 3 - Outcasts I want to express that the storyline is good but it feels lacking, I’m not kidding that I considered making this book a 2.5/5 Stars cause (to me) Grimm feels disrespected/cheapened. This book feels dark but it does majorly feels censored. I Give this Book a 3/5 Star Rating. Cliffhanger(?): Series - Yes, Couple - No. HEA(?): Yes, Dark: Not as Dark as the First 2 Books, gonna honestly drop the Darkness factor down into the Dark Lite Category: 2.5/5, this really wasn’t that dark to me which was a major let down because this is Grimm’s book aka Reaper/Death, and there’s barely any darkness (to me). I was expecting this to be darker than Romero’s books, or at least darker than Book 2. Grimm seemed much more tamer in this book, his personality seemed different from the very beginning of his book almost like he was a different person than then the previous books, his personality then took an even more drastic switch and was way too soft. Arlen seemed like a rushed character as well, and to me she did heal psychologically a bit too fast for me.
His book should’ve been a Duet, plain & simple. I also caught some misnamed characters.
Dark Heat: 1/5 Heat: 3.5/5 Romance(?)/Attraction(?): Romance - 4/5 Drama: 3.5/5 Suspense: 3/5 Pacing: Good Pacing. Relationship Type: MF No Spoilers.
Book 4 - Heathens I Give this Book a 3/5 Star Rating. Cliffhanger(?): No HEA(?): Yes Dark: Not to me at all. 0/5 Dark Heat: 0/5 Heat: 3/5 Romance(?)/Attraction(?): I really needed more convincing. 2/5 Drama: 3/5 Suspense: there really wasn’t any. Predictability: 100%, 5/5 Pacing: Super Fast. Relationship Type: MF No Spoilers. I Gotta Be Honest, I am Rabidly Pissed. This Book is so short! This book doesn’t even remotely resemble Cobra, the Cobra you first meet the the beginning of the series is Amazing and Dark and then at his own book.. he was extremely lackluster. Blue, you don’t even know her at all. The Darkness is unbelievably censored, to me there should be no such thing as Dark-Clean books and this book has proved me right. Was I robbed of a good story? Yes, I would’ve rather come up with his storyline on my own.
This is a box set containing four books. The first two are a duet, and the other two are each about a different couple.
I’m actually surprised that I made it through these books, because this is about people who are basically psychopaths. They have no trouble at all killing people, but they do it to survive a dystopian world. And they kill for fun and entertainment because they have serious mental health issues that cause them to need that in order to be calm. I can’t relate to that at all…
Well written except that book four had a style where the g at the end of a verb was missing. For example, missin instead of missing. It was weird and it really bothered me. I don’t know if that was supposed to be an accent or not, but it made for a semi-difficult read.
KU read, and if you like this author it’s a decent one to read. It’s not quite as bad as some of her others that are drenched in blood…
This is a wonderfully dark, twisted box set that follows the Savages and tells the story of how three twisted Savages found their other halves!!! Calista is Romero's perfect match made in hell. He is the devil and she is his queen. Their story starts in book one and continues in book two. Then book three is for Grimm and his other half, Arlen. She is the Persephone to his Hades and their story is just as twisted and brutal as Cali and Rome's ever was. The box set rounds out with book four, which is Cobra and Blue's story. Out of all of them this one is the most tame and it's still a dark twisted wonderful mess!! This is a great box set for all the people out there that love all the twisted, darkness with a great story to boot!!!
The Bandland series by Natalie Bennett is my favorite dark romance series to date! I love every gruesome, twisted, dark and depraved part of it! The way Natalie Bennett writes a story is so captivating its like your watching an actual horror show! This box set follows the first generation of Savages and the women who enjoy playing in the Darkness with them🖤 These books have blood shed, torture, steam, vulgar language, twist and turns you didn't see coming and heartache🖤 IF THOSE KINDS OF THINGS ARE OKAY WITH YOU THEN I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING THIS SERIES! IT IS EVERYTHING YOU COULD NEED! If you can't deal with that then please don't even attempt! You won't make it past the first couple of pages.
These books!!! They’re the first ones I’ve read from this author and I have to say, I fell in love! From book 1 to the very end of book 4! I’ll be diving in to 5 and 6 as soon as I can. Is there any way to never have the Badland series end? From Romero and Cali, Grimm and Arlen to Cobra and Blue and now the children, I can’t wait! I love them all!! I’m not even sure I have a favorite, haha. And reading all of these bad people (men and women) reach their demise in sweet, sweet victory was fantastic! It’s definitely not for everyone but I can say it was for me! Love the series, author and characters! I can’t wait for more!!
Could not put this down from start to finish I was totally hooked. Dark Deviant Hot Men and the Women who simultaneously tame and feed their inner beasts , each has their story and each is interwoven in a way you'll never see coming. Not for the faint of heart this definitely has some triggers but is worth the occasional "urgh" moments. My first books by Natalie Bennett but will be looking for more !
I’ve read these 4 books individually and having them all together in one place in fantastic! These books are not for the faint of the heart. I’m still not sure if I want to go and live in the badlands or just admire it from a far!! It’s a crazy crazy ride! It’s dark, it’s brutal, it will test your powers of acceptance but ultimately it’s love in its darkest, twisted forms. A must read
OMGOMGOMG Y’ALL WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR GRAB THIS BOX SET NOW !!! I’m telling you once you start this amazing series you won’t be able to put it down ! This is a dark romance so take trigger warnings seriously if your heart don’t beat for the dark like mine does than I wouldn’t suggest reading this but if it does than hop up and join the EPIC ride that’s the Badlands !
Natalie builds such an intriguing world in the Badlands. This box set includes the story of Romero and Calista, Satan and his bride. Grimm the reaper and his Queen and Brat. Then you get Cobra who you always want on your team! This is the OG Savages of the Badlands. It’s not your typical love story but totally worth it!
Honestly I couldn't stop reading, I love how the story continues between the savages. Not like other books where you have to read the same story from a different angle, it literally flowed from where the last one ended clearing up all the stuff left unsaid. Love love loved it. It was all hot and twisted deep rooted emotions. Bravo!!!!
Yeah...not sure what to say but I was underwhelmed. I was often confused during the story, especially at beginning, as to who certain people were, and events surrounding them. I think the author could have developed the story and characters better.
Sick, depraved, sexy and oh so dark. I loved each and every character and their dark twisted stories. Each one chased their own demons and had their own HEA.
In the end all I can say is, may I have more please!
Natalie Bennet’s books are amazing. I love the world she has built in the Badlands books. The art work in this book set is awesome. I can’t wait to have it in paperback.
I read this book last year and I fell in love with it. I have since then started reading other books by her. I fell in love with Romero and everything about this world.
