I really enjoyed this novella. I read The Iron Queen last year, so I was eager to learn more about Cartimandua. It was interesting to compare the two women and their approaches to the Romans. Both were doing what they thought best for their people, even though they chose very different routes. I think Cartimandua's choice saved her from the sheer horror that Boudica and her family went through. But then Boudica and her people were able to pull together and do something amazing. It would have been awesome to see what these two could have accomplished had they teamed up.
The Celtic Queen: A Novella of Cartimandua by Lauren Coffigan (aka L. D. Coffigan) was, in my opinion, just a very short story (38 pages on my Nook app), not even what I consider to be a novella. Yes, I understand novellas are short - The Celtic Queen was too short in one sense to be considered a novella. In another sense, it was boredom magnified reading the author "telling" us about Queen Cartimandua life. The author TOLD us Cartimandua found herself in love with Venutius. She did not make the reader FEEL Cartimandua was in love, just one example.
I had looked at the book synopsis and it sound so interesting. Instead it sucked royally and I regret the short time it took me to read this short story.
I'm done with Lauren/L.D. Coffigan. I won't even give a one second contemplation to any other books by her
