These kinds of books are purely bait material for harem readers. It introduces an interesting concept that could have made for a very unique series, but the author's not interested in writing a story. He's only interested in selling sex. The characters are rubbish, the story is rubbish, and the writing has no substance to it. The moment harem building starts, you know that is all the book is about. Characters and stories are just fillers to get to sex scenes.
First off, the story deals with a guy that can "split" into multiple bodies. They both are and are not independent. Because of this, some of the writing seems weird or incorrect, but if you can wrap your head around the whole concept, you realize that it's not incorrect, it's just unique and actually well done.
That being said, I enjoyed this story immensely. There were a few things I didn't necessarily enjoy completely, but the style of the story and how well it was done really made me forgive those minor grievances.
A man in a quest for vengeance, gathering followers along the way. Most followers are rescued from poor fates, but not all. In short order everyone is shown the power the man carries, which solidifies their belief in him. Add in oracles with prophesies and multiple gods and you've got Doppelganger.
Several of my favourite authors seem to have 3 or more stories going at once, and Logan seems on track to do the same. I would prefer one story coming out quickly than 3 different stories with a 3 times larger gap, but I suppose it is all down to sales, which story sells more copies. This tale is interesting and different enough to make I stand out, but some of the characters do seem physically familiar to one’s from other books I have read, although the personalities and are markedly different. I enjoyed the book as a fun read that had me smiling and smirking at the antics portrayed in the book. Looking forward to reading more.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading what appears to be the first installment in a series and am looking forward to the next. The author has put together a great idea and provided an interesting mix of characters. The verbal interchanges are well thought out and often humorous which added immensely to the story. Yes, a bit of sex but tastefully inserted and not story driven. I am hoping the next in the series is as enjoyable as this read has been. I’m nor a critic, I read for enjoyment and entertainment. I highly recommend this book to those who read for the same reasons.
If you're familiar with Logan Jacobs, this is another great example of his work. If not, you need to start reading!! This is a great book to start with. The style and skill shown in the story, plot development, and the development of ALL characters in the story is second to none. There is a great balance in detailed development and action to keep you intrigued. I always have a difficult time finding a reason to put the book down and usually end up reading it from start to the in one sitting.
Okay so... The story is good and I enjoyed the characters...But never have I wanted to read that the characters cleaned themselves more in a book than in this one. Essentially the character complains early on about needing a bath and it takes nearly the entire book to reach him and his companions performing basic hygiene. Please... Find a river at least. Swamp ass is real and I honestly skipped the later sex scenes because all I could think of is how bad it would all smell lol.
Little harder to get into in the early chapters but improved a lot in the latter. The concept of creating your own self is designed perticularly well. All the other characters have depth to them. Even though, illandre was the least brave character I loved every scene with her. Logan Jacobs started some of the promising series this year, I hope he continues the same quality as all of the books progress forward!
I enjoyed this but it didn’t grip me as others have. At times it feels very young adult in its writing but then goes back to a more serious tone.
The adult themes are handled well enough as is the cloning, although at times it can be confusing with style of writing used by the author.
Overall the characters are likeable except maybe Ilandere who comes across a bit whiney and weak but the others are fun and I’ll more than likely read any follow ups.
A fun read. Mc powers are kinda fun but not really OP. I could see them growing to be pretty scary tho. I liked this one enough that i will probably grab the next one that comes out. But it doesnt have anything happen that really sticks out or makes it unique. Maybe the next one will.
The story is a interesting spin on a God walking the earth. The characters are pretty good and extremely different from each other. The author made a interesting world that seems to have a lot of potential. The MC is a new concept to me for a fantasy setting. Overall it was good.
An awesome concept used very well, along with a literal gang of characters that delight at every turn. This story makes for an awesome first book, and sets the stage for a great and wonderful series. This is a fresh, face-palming, rollicking fantasy adventure for a mature audience. Can’t wait to see more. Definitely recommended.
I can't wait for the sequel to this story! The doppelganger idea is handled in a very unique way, that I think can lead to some great story arcs down the line. 10/10
Like the rest of his books, this one presents the reader with an engaging story filled with characters you get invested in. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Stumbled across this via fb. And what an enjoyable stumble. Now the wait for the next one in series. Good job Logan and hope it's not to long of a wait.
Great book with a very cool premise that is pretty different from other books that I have read. Interested to see how it turns out. Really like this author.
The doppelganger concept here is unique from other fantasy books and I enjoyed the interplay of all the characters. I’ll definitely read the next book.
It kind of meandered a bit and filled with a bit much unnecessary information that for me didn’t help with plot or added any context. It was ok. Nothing special
