The genius cultivator Lin Xuanzhi didn’t let down the world in his past life, yet he only betrayed a single Yan Tianhen.
It was only when he had been backstabbed and killed by his closest friends, teacher and fellow disciples that he knew what kind of unforgivable crimes he had committed.
After he gained the huge opportunity for rebirth, the Lin Xuanzhi who had climbed back up from hell swore to cherish the person that he had betrayed in his past life. (-novelupdates.com)
This one is considered boys love but as of Ch. 477, there are no graphic sexual scenes so you don't need to be concerned about that. It will just say something like They rolled in the sheets last night, ect.
I really enjoy reading this novel because there are a host of side characters and it's kind of like a role playing game where they are going on "quests" so to speak. It has some supernatural elements as well. The plot itself is actually quite detailed and I'm not going to go into it as it would give out to many spoilers But basically Lin Xuanzhi was an ass in his previous life and caused Yan Tianhen to suffer and I think he also caused his death. He is able to turn back time/reincarnate and in this life he will do everything he can to protect him. Although there is A LOT more to the story then this!
One of my favorite parts of this novel is the side characters - especially Duan Yuyang and You Ming.
The one "weird" part about the novel is that men can get pregnant via taking a special pregnancy pill or in the cause of another character - via long tern poisioning that gave him some "female" attributes such as being able to conceive. Not sure how, exactly that works but I just accept it and go on with the story.
Rating: 3.5/5- So this novel is certainly a journey and there are tons of twists and turns. It’s very enjoyable overall, but it’s not the best in its genre.
The story gets quite convoluted and some very well written characters appear and then disappear for no rhyme or reason. It’s also a waste of those characters who could have added a lot more value to the big parts of the plots.
There were also many big points in the plot that were started but had no conclusion, such as the big debacle of the first heir? The second pregnancy? Also what was up with the little ancestor? The Ren family? The nine tailed fox? Even the little dude from the Han family? What happened to Su Mo bruh??? Like he was the MVP and then just disappeared.
So I think there were too many unfinished ideas and concepts that messed with the flow of the story so it made many chapters seem disjointed or convoluted. The ending of the story was super brash and very anti-climactic. As if the author needed to finish up fast after taking us on a 750 chapter build up to some big secret that fell quite short.
I most certainly still enjoyed reading this but I didn’t love it as much as the epic The Legendary Master’s Wife. I think the whole storyboard eventually grew messy so some magnificent ideas didn’t really come through.
Also, many may disagree but I really disliked the main couple in comparison to the other couples. I especially loved the parents, Feng Jingyu and Ling Chigu as well as Dian Yuyang and Yuan Tianwen. They were brilliant! The main couple just didn’t have chemistry and also what was with the second rebirth? I have too many unanswered questions and did feel sad that there was only one good female character who had about 2 chapters worth of time and a decent ending.
Overall still a nice chill read but it’s most certainly not the best Xianxia novel with the best plot and main characters.
It took me about 4 months to read this book. I dropped it about 3 times. Actually i quite liked it. It was just... f***ing huge! Some parts, especially in the beginning were a bit boring, MC was a bit OP, and plot followed the usual path of rebirth novels. But then the novel pleasantly surprised me. The story was unwrapping level after level and ended up being kinda epic. So i give it 3.5 stars i guess.
The ending was so anticlimactic!! 774 chapters and the resolution was only the last two?!!! There was so much detail leading up to the resolution, and to have it fall short in disappointing.
Super long chi novel w many arcs in 2 diff worlds. The ending makes it feel like theres another book or continuation.. haiz. WHERE R THEIR CHILDREN!!
I wish the scenes were more explicit! Hate that LXZ treated ah hen so badly in their past life and even have illicit rs 😮💨😤 AH HEN DESERVES BETTER!! but okay at least he tried to make up for it :( hated the arc where lxz had no feelings and everyone lost their memory.. god damn dao of heaven, let me have my story!!

I don’t quite know how to feel about this book. The ending was just so abrupt, the author seems to have brought many people to just be cannon folders and people that we meet in passing then never hear about ever again. Even by the end, there is no resolution as to wether or not everyone remember XuanZhi. Maybe it’s in those extras that never got translated! But yeah for what we have the story just seems to end to suddenly. Even the last villain ending is super anti-climatic all that scheming and destruction and the dude get like defeated in half a chapter.

This one started out pretty fun, as a rebirth/revenge story that focused on secondary professions like crafting, which was refreshing. But as it went on, it got more and more into soap opera territory, where it just felt like everyone was getting pregnant (male or female), and the drama just got a bit too dog blood for me.
I liked this story. It was nice and long with lots of twists and turns. I wasn't a big fan of the ending because it just seemed to wrap up abruptly, but it also left room for a continuation. Overall I enjoyed this read.

It was really great! then it was average. It became quite repetitive at times, I found the past lives stuff unnecessary, like no one needs to remember so many past lives. It also got annoying how the only conflict the author seemed able to think of for the 2 mc's was "oh i remember the past but i don't want him to remember. Oh no he remembers and now we are ignoring each other" like seriously??
Also, the way every couple, the conflict was the fact that at least one of them was like a horrible person. It was always treating the other person badly for a reason that never made sense and no communication. I can't even say miscommunication, no, they just didn't talk. Also, the constant r*p* mentions????? It happened a little too much
some good things about this book: Most of the characters were great, the world was well thought out. Despite all my grumbling, the plot was well thought out for the most part.
The ending was really rushed! it didn't not feel finished, and after over 6000 pages I feel awfully disappointed. All in all it was well done, it just started to lose me in the last 200 chapters or so.

Reviewing after a re-read, years after reading it for the first time. I remember loving it on first read (while also struggling with its insane length). On re-read, it feels more like a soap opera - hard to look away, but also not that much of substance going on. There's nothing overly wrong with the main pairing, the main characters, the plot, the side characters and side romances... but I wouldn't say any of them rank particularly highly on the list of things I've read/enjoyed, either. Perhaps by trying to do so much (and for SO LONG), it just can't exceed in any particular category or give them that much depth.
Not a bad read, but I feel that the length (almost 800 chapters) will scare many readers off, and the lack of depth will mean that while it may be enjoyable, it won't be anyone's favourite.

The first arc was good enough to be 5 stars with the main characters improving cultivation, fighting enemies with the goal of ascending to upper realms. Second arc was average, draggy and repetitive, especially the flashbacks. The upper realms and the new characters were just boring. Worth reading the first arc and then quitting.

There are a lot of instances when the author seems to have forgotten things that happened in previous chapters. I also felt that some scenes, characters, and relationships were either entirely ignored or inadequately addressed which was a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the book and I am especially appreciative since there are soo few xianxia bl novels. This novel is worth reading.
