Tristan Grayson has spent his adult life exacting revenge on the man who ruined his father. He’s made it his life’s purpose to take everything from Augustus Gold, just as Gold tried to take everything from Tristan’s family. When he returns to England from India and comes face to face with Miss Eleanor Gold, he realizes that there has been more than one victim of his vengeance.
Eleanor Gold was only fifteen-years-old when the actions of a stranger changed the course of her life forever. Now, ten years later, she has just found an unorthodox way to improve the fortunes of her family when she unexpectedly comes face to face with her childhood nemesis. Eleanor is determined to ignore Tristan Grayson’s existence, but a chance encounter with a fortune teller convinces her that holding a grudge might be standing in the way of something wonderful.
Can Tristan find his way into Eleanor’s good graces? And can Eleanor find a way to forgive the sins of the past?
I'm Nadine, a writer from County Laois in Ireland.
I’ve been writing historical romance since March 2014 and have no plans to stop!
While my heart belongs to Regency, there are a lot of other genres and ideas fluttering around in my brain so who knows what will happen next?!
When I'm not writing I can be found scurrying around after my three children. Or my dog. Or my cat.
I have a brilliant family and wonderful friends who are ever patient and supportive of me.
I'm sometimes asked where my inspiration comes from. I guess it's from everywhere! I love my gorgeous husband to distraction so that helps! I think I also put a little bit of people I know into my characters...so if you know me and you recognize someone... ;)
Have an ever so mild obsession with Jane Austen and have properly researched time machines in case there's one who could take me back to 1800s. Spoiler alert: there isn’t one. My brain might be odd but it's a pretty fun place to be at times!
My writing really took off when my youngest started preschool. So now, while my children are being taken care of by teachers, my characters are being taken care of by me!
To be fair though, I can quite regularly be found at 2am glued to the laptop when I get an idea!
This was a fun filled, humorous, touching book with romance, witty bantering & love of family!
Tristan "Bloody" Grayson has just returned from India after spending 5 years there rebuilding his family's coffers. He has spent years seeking & succeeding revenge against Augustus Gold, as this man had broken his father when he lost all to Gold in card games & left his family penniless & a shell of a man after he suffered heart problems. When Tristan returns to England, he goes to the final object he had won from Gold & has evicted the 3 children - the family's country estate. He's made it his life's purpose to take everything from Gold just as he had taken everything from Tristan's family but then he meets Miss Eleanor Gold & her younger sister & brother. Their situation is dire & Tristan realizes there has been more than one victim of his revenge.
Eleanor Gold was only fifteen-years-old when she first heard the name Tristan Grayson & how the young boy had won their house in London & they would have to go back to their country home which would eventually change the course of her life. Now, 10 years later, she has come face-to-face with the person that ruined her family - Tristan "Bloody" Grayson!
Eleanor is determined to ignore Tristan, his attempts at apologizing won't work & after telling him off & sending him on his way, she has an encounter with a travelling Fortune Teller - Madame Zeta, who tells her to use her strengths & not to hold grudges for sins of the past..
Ms. Millard created a great story & gave me characters that I really felt invested in. This was a sweet, fun, entertaining read that I highly recommend!
Nadine Millard has such a gift for creating characters I love to read about and she has shared that gift once again in this book. Eleanor was feisty, loyal, and strong. Tristan was protective, loving, and oh so manly! Both Eleanor and Tristan were haunted by the sins of their fathers, which lead to a deep mistrust between the two. This twist made the story so very intriguing. I enjoyed this book a ton. Reading it was an escape. 😊
This series just appears to get better and better with each book. Positively loved this one!! The chemistry and dynamic between Eleanor and Tristan really touched a chord with me, I was instantly sympathetic and enraptured by their past torments and how that shaped them into the compassionate, stubborn and strong people they had become. I even shed a tear or two. Not so much a fact of I couldn't put it down more I wouldn't put it down. A touching, heart poundingly sweet romance that had just the right amount of fire, wit and charm to make it thoroughly enjoyable and an addictively intriguing read. Well written and engaging plot with great flow - I just Love Millard's captivating style of writing. A wonderful, easy to devour in one sitting, read!!
Fortune Favours Miss Gold Fortunes of Fate Series, Book 2 Nadine Millard, author
My first book by this author and I was delightfully entertained. It's always good to find a new author and especially one in this particular genre. Eleanor Gold and her siblings are uprooted from their home after their late father lost it in gambling five years prior. Now living in a small cottage their mother acquired unbeknownst to them or their father before her death, Eleanor must find a way to make ends meet and provide for her younger siblings. Enter in Madame Zeta and her insight into the future and one handsome, annoying and lovable Mr. Tristan Grayson and sparks fly..... Will Eleanor be able to put the obstacles to rest in order that she will find her happily ever after? Read this short story to find the answers for yourself. Enjoy!
What a lovely romantic story. I loved the characters, the pain, the joy, the struggles and the suspense, that these characters went through. I like the fact that Eleanor had a special talent with numbers and cards and Tristan had a big heart. It was a lovely quick read that kept you turning the page. There was no sex in this book but lots of romance and passion. Will definitely be reading more from this author. I received this book as an ARC.
Eleanor is a such a strong woman. She does what needs to be done. Tristan has been lead by revenge but we get to see what a kind person he is. An unexpected love. I thought this was a very romantic story.
A great novella and a wonderful addition to the Fortunes of Fate set! From a strong willed woman who does what she can to support her siblings, and a handsome man who falls instantly in love, who wins the gamble? The play at the end was the best!
Fortune Favors Miss Gold, by Nadine Millard, is a fun read. The story is a second generations chance of finding happiness gambled away by their fathers. The dialogue is witty, the cards are sharp and the chemistry between Grayson and Eleanor is heated! A truly fun tale!
Nadine is a new author to me, and I am grateful I have discovered her writing.
This title had wonderful central characters in Eleanor and Tristan - the journey to their HEA had an unusual premise and was a good mixture of drama and romance.
Nadine’s book are like gold! This is part of the Fortunes of Fates series but is definitely read as a stand-alone. I definitely enjoyed the chemistry between Eleanor and Triston! They are both dealing with their fathers mistakes, but neither expected the attraction and wanted to help others. I love how Nadine puts the steam in her books without it being trashy. Definitely swoon worthy!
