***Trigger This story involves suicide, self-harm, verbal abuse, and grief.***On the outside, Frances Fischer is destined for greatness. She’s at the top of her class in her prestigious private academy. In a few short months she’ll begin a successful academic career at Harvard. She is exactly what everyone expects her to be. But she isn’t herself. She’s a puppet on a string; existing only to carry out someone else’s desires. Just when she’s given up on believing anything could change, she meets Matthew Halden, a corporate cog destined to take over the family business. On the outside, he’s perfect. On the inside, he’s desperate to find some relief to his suffering. By any means necessary. When Frances learns that Matt intends to take his own life, she throws caution to the wind and convinces him to give her one month to change his mind. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery. But will this unlikely friendship result in further harm once certain truths are revealed or will they finally be able to cut the puppet strings?
Mickey Vanes is a new author with an immense love for stories. Her days of a writing technically began as a five-year-old child scribbling nonsense on paper and imagining epic adventures with Batman or the Fantastic Four. Her love for fiction grew and she finished her first novel, The Keeper Chronicles - Book I: Beginnings, in 2010 while still in college. This book is part of a mission to give everyone a chance to see themselves represented in fiction. Her goal is to create new and exciting characters that will challenge our expectations at every turn.
Puppet Show combines unlikely friendship, unexpected romance, and the quest for self, with wit, charm, and levity, without sacrificing depth and authenticity. It is now one of my favorite books and I highly recommend it!!
