No body means no crime, which makes this the perfect murder, Doug Stewart hopes.
Doug even has an ironclad alibi. He’s been seen hundreds of miles away when his lovely wife, Venus, vanishes.
What better plan could any murderer hope for?
But Doug’s forgotten one the power of a mother’s love. Venus’ mother believes her daughter’s husband lured Venus outside and killed her.
Now, Venus’ mom wants her daughter back, dead or alive.

It’s also the story of a killer’s wild plan to get away with murder. And it’s the tale of a mother’s quest to win the return of her child — her best friend — even if it’s only to bury her.

I quit my job to write. That’s how much love writing. It’s also an indication of how utterly frustrated I was with my life as a middle manager in a national corporation. Mid-life crisis? No, I don’t think so. It’s more that I saw the finish line approaching more rapidly than I expected thirty years before.
What I am is what I write.
The characters in the St. Isidore Collection, the people who live in this town I have created in my mind, all contain some thread of me. Let’s be honest. I write what I know. And I know the frustration of listening to the millennials at work talk about their plans for the next thirty years, and suddenly realizing I don’t have thirty years left.
For Henry Branson, the protagonist in the short story, Revenge is Best Served Bloody, you’ll see that thread taken to its extreme.
Adam King, a central player in Wicked Revenge: Book 2 From the St.Isidore Collection is a middle-aged guy who quit his job to follow his dream and open a bookstore.
Bree, the protagonist in A Wicked Plan: Book 1 From the St. Isidore Collection is not a middle-aged woman. She’s a teenager. But Bree already feels the frustration that people more than twice her age experience. She feels like others are holding her back and Bree is willing to do whatever it takes to get them out of her way.
There are others in St. Isidore, who only want to love and be loved. They believe the fantasy and are willing whatever they have to do to make it come true.
Beth is the perfect example of that. She is a supporting player in A Wicked Plan, but a central character in Wicked Revenge. Beth loves Bree. She wants Bree. All Beth wants is for Bree to want and adore her. Then Beth finds out Bree is cheating on her with Melinda. What do you think Beth does?
What would you do?
And then there is Tim. Destined to become St. Isidore's most celebrated criminal, all he wants is to be loved. Does he have to kill all the women who reject him?
I see myself in all of my friends in St. Isidore. Well, maybe not Tim, but most of them. Hopefully, you will too.
Welcome to the St. Isidore Collection. It's more than a series of dark, realistic and sometimes supernatural, paranormal, noir fiction.
The St. Isidore Collection is a community. Want to be our neighbor?
...at times. This needs to be either edited or re-edited. It certainly was not done professionally. They're are double commas, double periods, incorrect words, missing words, and the like throughout the document.
Had this not been the case, or had the book been a Kindle Unlimited instead of my having to pay for something of such low quality, I would have rated it higher. But when you are asking people to PAY top dollar for a product, they expect a QUALITY product. And frankly, if I'm not the first person to bring this up, then drop my rating an additional star because that means the author is not paying attention to his reviews and has not taken this matter seriously and corrected it yet. Frankly that bothers me as he's still allowing a low quality product to sell for top dollar, which means he doesn't care about his readers or his reputation. In that case, he should be on your "do not buy list" until he LEARNS to appreciate the readers who purchase his books.
This book relates an interesting story, but in an unprofessional manner. At least he has included a bibliography, which is great, but Mr Kackley does that thing true crime writers do that annoys me: he deigns to get into the mind of the victim, who, at the time of the writing, was no longer around to have told him what they were doing or feeling during the attack. And again it shows a lack of revision and/or editing to correct errors of grammar and syntax. Believe it or not, at about 70 pages it is too long for the story. I'll probably give Mr Kackley another chance, however.
My husband and I started listening to this book on a short road trip. We saw the reviews and we were skeptical, but also know that we can still be entertained by poorly executed publications. But this “poorly executed” short story was beyond anything we’ve experienced. We feel like it’s a story that should be told but this needs to be completely rewritten.
but for those who are able to follow text that uses complex sentence structure without getting lost and who don't require constant repetition to figure stuff out .... read crime books by articulate authors who avoid meaningless fill.
I didn't get too much of this book than I could have if I had just read the newspaper articles directly. I wish there'd been interviews with the family or the suspects to deepen the retelling of Venus and her family's story.
Another sad tale of a husband who can't accept when his wife leaves him. Too bad an order of protection doesn't come with an armed guard. That's the kind of protection abused women need.
How can a person take someone's life? All because she left him? I don't believe it! Bull! It's the typical jealousy revenge. "If I can't have you, then no one can! A very good book. Addictive. I finished this book in one day. I just couldn't put it down. This is a book, that you can get drawn into.
