Aimee's summer plans have been shot to hell. Due to a schedule mishap with her parents' volunteer work and her grandmother's, plus her best friend's mono, it's decided she's going with her brother during his internship...with team working with the biggest boy band to date, Seconds to Juliet. Anyone would pay to be in Aimee's shoes. She'd happily switch with anyone, if you asked her.

Aimee's had a crush on Nick's best friend, Second to Juliet's very own Miles Carlisle, when she was eleven. But he'd basically broken her heart when he'd made fun of her to Nick about tagging along too much like a lost puppy.

I was supposed to read the whole series, but I'll be stopping with Aimee and the Heartthrob.

The story started out okay. I love second chance romances and rockstar tropes, so I'm not complaining. But as the story progressed, I couldn't stop rolling my eyes at how cheesy and cliche it was. I mean yeah, I get it; the rockstar trope is cliche. But there are ways to make it different, to make it stand out.

This pretty much followed every contemporary YA novel ever. Girl has a crush on big brother's best friend, gets rejected, grows up, suddenly gets big bro's best friend's attention, he wants her but he can't because bro code, they get together anyway, secrets and misunderstanding break them up, grand gesture, happily every after.

That's it. I basically told the whole story.

And sorry, but I'm not a fan of Miles. He's hot-tempered and when he gets angry, he doesn't listen to reason. He tried to be alpha but ended up looking like someone who needs to go to anger management class. If this happened to me, a thousand grand gestures wouldn't tempt me to go back to him.

It just wasn't for me. Sorry.

DNF 70% - Browsing until I burned my eyes. Have no idea how I got this far.

I have no idea which zombie got my brain so I that I could have this brilliant idea of reading a book with this title. And this cover.

I was looking for one of those lights and fluffy stories and this rockstar vibe got my attention.
At first I was okay with the story. All that girl growing up and famous boy not recognizing her and hitting on her was interesting. But then we get to this obsessive comments of how he can't forget her eyes. And long and boring description of her eyes.

I think I just can't classify this as an annoying insta-love book because they knew each other as kids. So I will just classify it as annoying book.

The characters

I actually didn't know how to classify this book. Sometimes I thought it was like new adult and then, most of it had so many immature actions that I thought I was reading middle grade or even children's book. The characters were completely one dimensional and even the past-drama-issue added nothing to their personalities. More because they were so bland and weak that they couldn't bare the drama/romance. I couldn't figure out their age as even thought they were 16-17, she was more 11 to me.

“Here comes the choo-choo,” she said, offering him another bite.

The story

Girl go stay for some time with famous childhood friend who finds out she has boobs and legs. Add some we-cant-be-together-because-your-brother-is-my-bff and some wait-who-cares-about-your-brother drama and that is it. Nothing more.

The writing style

I'm not sure about the author but I can say that this was basically wrote by a 12 year old who wrote a fanfiction about One Direction and forgot to review. So we can find things like OMFG#%*^&@!! , Dafuq and "pix" in place of pictures.

My fangirl heart is just bursting. MAKE WAY! MAKE WAY! SECONDS TO JULIET is finally here. Heard about them? The newest and HOTTEST bookish BOYBAND there is! And ladies and gents, Miles Carlisle is on the spotlight. And things are about to get really swoony around here.

Aimee had a huge crush on Miles since forever and though she's still on the middle of Operation: forget-about-Miles propaganda, sparks can't stop flying when they saw each other again. And now sparks won't definitely stop flying now that they're about to spend a lot of time together and Miles just found about Aimee's crush on him.

Obviously, Aimee is the luckiest girl ever. From the first chapter, I instantly liked Aimee. Shes a mixture of sugar and spice. She can be sweet and adorable, but can totally be sassy and sexy too. Basically, she's what most of the girl population is trying to achieve. I always had a love-hate relationship with rockstars. Whether they're from books or real life. They just seems to be always hurting you know? Which can lead to them being overly dramatic and me being annoyed. But on the other hand, they can be really, REALLY sweet. Miles is a perfect characterization of a teenage rockstar. He can be really broody, but he can also be super sweet AND adorable. I swear, he jut killed me. I sighed, I swooned, I laughed, I FELL INLOVE. The characters are superb! Lets hug Ophelia for bringing Miles to our lives.

The romance was completely sweet. There was a lot of grinning, a few tears, a lot of swooning and wishing me and Aimee could just trade places. Best friends turns into lovers are really not that unheard of. But with all the music tours, making Miles british, having an overprotective brother, and the witty and humorous writing.. Ophelia just made this book like a pot of gold. If you would ask me right now what book will I be recommending? A&TH will always be in the tip of my toungue.

So yeah, I love this book. I just want to hug Ophelia, and Aimee, and the S2J boys and Miles. Maybe I'll hug Miles a little bit longer. Maybe I'll ask for a kiss too. Overall, reading this book is just a treat. So sweet I think it gave me cavities, and I'm not even complaining. Cannot wait for the follow up books!

With two great hits that I just devoured, Ophelia London has quickly become an author I know I can count on for a fun, light hearted read just when I need one most.

And this truly was that, a light read, with just the right amount of romance and swoon worthy moments between Aimee and Miles to make my heart flutter and my face break out in a smile.

And while this did feel a bit younger than her other reads, it was still as good as I have come to expect from London. It is hard to resist a rock star no matter how old (or young) they are.

I truly enjoyed every minute of this read between the make out sessions in the hidden alcoves, to the swoon worthy love ballads in the hotel rooms, this was just a whole lot of fun.

Full Review on The Candid Cover

Aimee and the Heartthrob by Ophelia London is a whirlwind story that is uniquely written musical experience! Bustling with drama, this is a book that is hard to put down. An amazing setting also sets the stage for this fun-filled series.

Aimee and the Heartthrob is a very musical book. It tells the story of Aimee, who is stuck going on tour with a band called Seconds to Juliet. With each chapter, I learned more and more about what it’s like to be on tour, and what it’s like to be insanely popular and busy. It also emphasizes that reporters and the press are extremely irritating. This book has many references to Prince as well, which was interesting!

I loved all the drama in Aimee and the Heartthrob! One of the main characters, Miles, has some anger management issues . This is an interesting character trait that adds quite a few issues for the other characters to work out. I won’t spoil too much, but let’s just say, one overprotective brother + one strict manager + one forbidden romance = a recipe for disaster.

The setting in Aimee and the Heartthrob is unlike anything I’ve ever read. It takes place on multiple tour busses creatively named after songs by the fictional band, Seconds to Juliet. Since the band is on tour, many different cities and stadiums are included. I love when there are multiple locations and destinations in a book!

If you are a fan of music and YA literature, I recommend Aimee and the Heartthrob to you! It is such a light and refreshing read that the reader won’t soon forget!

So I have a review copy of the second book in this series, that I got before I realized it was a series, so of course I had to go back and read this one first.

And I have been super sick, cant sleep due to coughing. So last night during my coughing fits I decided to pick up my tablet and start this. I ended up reading the whole thing in a surprisingly short amount of time. I honestly don't even know how I managed it with being so sick. It was weird.

This is by no means a perfect book. Its not a brilliant literary work. It is a teen romance. It is even a little cheesy. Unrealistic. Its got a boy band. But for some reason I couldn't put it down! I got totally wrapped up in the cheesy, unrealistic love story. I am such a sucker sometimes!

I have to say, Miles sounds so lovable. He sounds like a sexy Harry Styles (I do not like One Direction, by the way, but I wont deny that Harry Styles is adorable). Aimee was alright, but I feel like I didn't really get a good feel for her personality.

It had a good romantic tension build up. Which I totally appreciate. So that was nice. The next book follows a different member of the band, the bad boy, and I am actually looking forward to reading and reviewing it!

I highly recommend this to people who love One Direction... Lol... or other Boy Bands.

Loved the idea of this. Who doesn't want the rockstar boy to write songs and serenade them?

I loved the essence of the story. The running around hotels, sneaking in buses, and tour life: of it all was pretty fun. There were some really sweet and swoony moments and of course I enjoyed all of that.

Sadly, the voice of the story seemed really young. Aimee is supposed to be 16 and Miles is 17 and both of them come across as much younger. Aimee's inner monologue had text speak in it and I struggled with the "dafuq" and "OMFG #*%[%]*" Yes. At one point, there were symbols.

There was a lot of drama and overreacting. However, I thought the ending was adorable. It was a cute and quick read.

I received an ARC through NetGalley.

I was hesitant going into Aimee and the Heartthrob, because I absolutely hated the first book I read from this author. But it's a totally different story, sounded cute, and I figured I'd go into it with an open mind. Plus, the following book is written by a favorite author, and I won't knowingly read a series out of order. Well, I certainly wish I didn't have that reading a series in order compulsion, because my instincts were correct. I seriously just cannot stand the author's characters. They drive me batty!

So, I had some issues with how Aimee and the Heartthrob started. Am I suppose to believe that Aimee's parents, who will not let her stay home alone despite being 16, would rather her go on tour with a rock band for three weeks? Seriously? Of course, they had to mention that the band's parents will be chaperoning, but Miles admitted that he's the only band member who doesn't drink or do drugs, so obviously things aren't as squeaky clean as Aimee's parents were led to believe. And they should know that, or at least be suspicious.

Then, I had a hard time believing that Miles didn't recognize Aimee at all. I can understand that she had a bit of a growth spurt since he last saw her, but she cannot be totally unrecognizable. He had no clue at all that this girl could possibly be Aimee, even though he knew she was going to be going on tour with him. Like, hey there's this mysterious new girl who is obviously not one of our back-up dancers, and I haven't see Aimee yet, I wonder who this girl could be?! Um no. Also, it's only been two years since he saw her, and keeps talking about her like she was some little kid when he left. He referred to her as a "rug rat." Um, she was 14 and you were 15. She's not that much younger, and she probably doesn't look that different at 16. I have a feeling this was done to make their reunion awkward, and to have Aimee feel even more invisible to him. I just didn't buy it.

Another thing that bugged me about the characters was that they didn't really sound like teenagers to me. It's been quite awhile since I've been one, but Miles and Aimee read more like how the author thinks teenagers talk. At a few points Miles actually sounded like a 40 year old creep trying to hit on a teenage girl. I couldn't imagine those words coming out of a real 17 year old boy. Plus, there was that "rug rat" comment. Really. And Aimee sounded twelve at times. "Nut-burger." Are you serious? Also, is "dafuq" actually something teens say, and not ironically? And is it really so hard to say Instagram instead of shortening it to "Insta." That was super annoying, since Aimee is like an Instagram addict so it's said quite a bit.

There were a few more things in Aimee and the Heartthrob that made zero sense. Apparently, girls only wear their hair in a ponytail if the shower is broken and they can't wash it. Or maybe, she just felt like wearing her hair in a ponytail! I always wear my hair up, because I hate the feeling of it on my neck. Not because the shower is broken. That's a really weird conclusion to jump to. Then Miles is checking out Aimee's shoulders, which she's showing off in her pink dress. Except that he literally just pointed out that she's wearing a sweater because it's cold. Inconsistencies bother the crap out of me! Finally, Miles manages to compose an entire song on the piano within a few hours, even though he doesn't know how to play and isn't some kind of musical savant. I don't think so.

Finally, there was the inevitable fight. It was the most ridiculous and hilarious thing ever! And just like the characters, it made no sense! I totally get why Miles was mad at what he found, but the events leading up to it were completely unbelievable. He wanted to surprise Aimee with something, so he had to do some research. Well, he somehow finds something he's not suppose to see and gets upset. Except that his research did not require that much digging! It was so forced! Then we learn something about this from Aimee's BFF, and I had to roll my eyes, because no one would do that! Like, really. There was no reasoning behind that! It was all so stupid.

Thankfully, Aimee and the Heartthrob is a really quick read. I definitely can't say that I enjoyed it. Although there probably would have been a cute romance here if the characters hadn't been annoying. The only thing I can say I actually liked was all of the Prince references, since he's Miles' favorite muscian.

If someone had told Aimee Bingham two years ago that she would be spending one whole month on the road with Miles Carlisle, she would have been over-the-top happy. Now, after being crushed by the famous pop star, she begs for another alternative.

The girl Miles sees is not the girl he’s known for five years, and he wants nothing more than to get to know her. Aimee tries to keep her old crush hidden in the corners of her mind, but Miles won’t stay away. Can she trust this Hollywood Heartthrob or will he leave her to pick up the broken pieces?

I could not get enough of this book. The characters, the transient setting, and the budding romance entranced me from the first page. I received a copy of Aimee and the Heartthrob from NetGalley and started reading it not long after I had downloaded it, barely able to put it down. I thought it might be cheesy at first, and even though it did have its moments, felt like those moments added to the young romance. London captures the true essence of young, unsure love, with a dash of drama to keep things interesting. This is the first novel I’ve read by Ophelia London and will definitely check out her other books – this one has raised the bar!

It was told in 3rd person and switched from Aimee’s point of view to Miles’s. Knowing how each of them saw the other added to the intrigue and suspense of the story. I felt the writing was effortless and light, and both of the main characters each had a unique voice. Aimee, especially, had a connectable quality about her, since she had been the ultimate fangirl when it came to Miles Carlisle. Who can’t attest to having an extreme love for some type of artist? Though, hers may have been extreme at some points, which made it funny and light-hearted. Her worst fears and old desires resurfaced when she got to spend time with the object of her 12-year-old self’s adoration, and it was exciting to read as it all unfolded. No longer the devoted fan, she got to spend time with him as Aimee instead of the future Mrs. Carlisle. Finally, she saw the real Miles instead of just the surface.

There is no way I couldn’t fall in love with Miles. His character did have his faults, but his ability to overcome it all made him even more likeable, if that’s even possible – British accent, charming wit, and inferior ninja skills were difficult to beat. The beginning of the book had a cautionary remark from the publisher stating, “…Its swoonworthy hero may ruin all others for you” and Miles fit perfectly into that category.

Aimee and the Heartthrob is any fangirl’s wildest wish. There was a perfect balance of love and hate, trust and doubt to keep me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to read the next installment in the Backstage Pass series and continue to tour with Seconds to Juliet.

I really enjoyed this sweet romance! Aimee has been in love with her brothers best friend for 5 years. Aimee knew Miles before he was famous and now he is a successful boy band member. Aimee and Miles haven't seen each other in a few years and in those years, Aimee has had a growth spurt and has changed from the tag-along little sister to a beautiful woman and Miles notices. The problem is that Miles promised his friend that Aimee is off-limits. The connection between Miles and Aimee was really sweet. I liked the whole boy band aspect of this story (confession: I was a die hard 'N Sync fan in my younger days) and really liked that most of this story took place when Miles group was on tour. I really enjoyed this story and recommend it to anyone who likes a clean, young adult romance.

This was absolutely adorable.

Aimee has had a crush on Miles Carlisle since she was a kid. But after learning from her brother that Miles used to make fun of her for following them around, she stopped him cold turkey. But it's kind of hard to avoid someone who is:

a. her brother's best friend, and
b. a member of the hottest boy band on the music scene - Seconds to Juliet

When her brother gets an internship to help S2J on the road, he jumps at it, and because of unforeseen circumstances, Aimee is brought along for the ride.

Miles hasn't seen Aimee in a few years. so it's no surprise that he doesn't recognize her when he first sees her. But once he does, it doesn't matter anyway because best friends' little sisters are off limits. Especially to guys like him who aren't looking for relationships after having previously been burned...twice.

Band books are one of my weaknesses. I love them. Throw in the fact that Miles is British and insert swoon here. Old crushes are rekindled, secrets are revealed, and older brothers are out for blood. Drama, music, and romance. If those sound like things you enjoy, then I'm sure you would gobble this up.

I received an e-copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Aimee and the Heartthrob by Ophelia London is a delicious contemporary romance that features two brilliant characters and an addictive romance you’ll be unable to put down!

Aimee and the Heartthrob follows two very different teenagers who are living two very different lives but sees them falling for one another when they’re brought together after years apart. British born Miles Carlisle is a member of America’s number one boy band Seconds to Juliet. Alongside his four other bandmates, Miles’s life is an endless string of tours, music and paparazzi. Caught up in the public eye, Miles wishes someone would see past his public persona but the last thing he expected was that that person would be a girl he knew as a kid and left long ago.

Aimee Bingham is a normal teenage girl who had her heart broken when her brother’s best friend Miles left and landed an international music career, taking him far away from her, the girl who secretly loved him for years. Though two years have passed, Aimee is afraid of rekindling her crush, and facing the same heartbreak when she finds herself accompanying her brother on Seconds to Juliet’s latest tour over the summer. Both teens are in for a surprise as Aimee discovers Miles is still the wonderful guy she fell for all those years ago and Miles quickly realizes that the young girl who used to follow him around like a puppy is now a beautiful, funny and sassy young woman. With their attraction to each other impossible to deny, Aimee and Miles soon find themselves falling headfirst in love.......

I found Aimee and the Heartthrob to be a really enjoyable read. Ophelia London does everything right in this novel with her characters, atmosphere and chemistry spot on. Aimee is living every teenage girl’s fantasy in Aimee and the Heartthrob and London encompasses this wonderfully. I felt excited and giddy whilst reading this novel and I know I’m already invested in following the other Seconds to Juliet members if possible.

Aimee and Miles were really great characters. They were normal, down to earth and really easy to follow. I loved seeing the story unfold through both their eyes with Aimee and the Heartthrob told in varying POV’s. Aimee was sweet and sassy and the kind of girl you can’t help but like and Miles was a truly genuine guy; likable but cheeky and perfectly put together and very, very charming.

I really appreciated that Ophelia London gave Miles and Aimee a history in this novel. It gave some real substance to their relationship considering they had known each other since they were children. Aimee knew Miles before he became a household name and saw him still as the boy she idolized as a young girl, even though he was now a young man and very much the superstar he was----less a lot of the drama. The chemistry between Miles and Aimee was wonderful—this novel straddles the line between YA and NA and was sexy and simmering without being too descriptive or heavy. It was the perfect balance and swoon inducing romance.

Sweet, charming and very, very addictive, Aimee and the Heartthrob left me raring for more and ready to read more from both Ophelia London and about the Seconds to Juliet boys! I highly recommend this if you're a fan of teenage contemporary reads with wonderful romance!

Miles he's just I loved him, "sorry, Aimee, I couldn’t see in the dark. Did I leave a mark on you, or a bruise on your, um…” He shot a quick glance directly at the area in question, making his entire body flush hot. “Or scratch you there-" I enjoyed this book I loved the teasing Miles did to Aimee, "Miles licked his lips and held his breath, knowing he shouldn’t say what he was about to. “What else have you dreamed about me doing to you, Aimee." I've read a few books by this author and I've loved every single one I've read

I LOVE this cover.

But I wasn't thrilled with the book. There's not a lot of substance in terms of deep character development and delving into who Miles and Aimee are. It's all hormones.

I also have a ton of questions about the premise. Who's paying for Aimee's hotel rooms? What is she supposed to be doing? A tour runs on very small profit margins (smaller these days, with promoters taking a cut of merch sales, which is a move I don't agree with, as that's traditionally been a steady income for performers), so Aimee's got to be doing something to earn her keep. And she's not.

Also, I hate hate hate it when authors don't understand the differences between band managers and tour managers. I mean, it's in the name.

When your parent’s divorce that’s trauma enough for a 12 year old. But, to move you from the UK to America is beyond what can be asked of any young boy. His dad had cheated on his mom changing his view for a while.
Miles Carisle is now “The Heartthrob” of all young girls everywhere that follow his band “Seconds to Juliet.” His journey there was a hard one. If it weren’t for his dear friend Nick Bingham and family he’s not sure he would be where he is today. When he met Nick through the Big Brothers program, Nick’s class went to his school once a week, an integrating program. They met the first day but he wouldn’t talk, a total loner and all pissed off.
When Nick found him by the CD player they bonded over their love for music. From there they started hanging out after school and Nick’s teacher felt like he needed to email Nick’s parents to let them know about Mile’s history. Nick’s parents being who they are doctors out to save the world and will to take anyone in to their home and family did just that and Mile’s mom too. Nick’s teacher only made his parents open their arms wider.
Miles was just pissed at the world. His parents had split up, his dad’s was caught cheating, and his mom didn’t give him a choice by moving him here to the USA. Looking back now Nick is sure he was depressed too.
Nick described him back then as smart, passionate, and angry with nowhere to harness it. That’s when he found music and joined the school band. He continued to warn Aimee (Nick’s sister who had a crush on Mile’s since before he was famous) that he may have changed some things in his life but a lot was still the same like his temper and his short fuse. He’s used to getting what he wants-whatever girl he wants too.
Aimee’s wall would get two bricks in place then lose one. How can any of what Nick told her be true? She had never seen any of that. He was patient and sweet even when she was being a total brat. He was strong, confident, and sure of everything in her eyes. Was that just her old crush talking?
She wasn’t willing to stick her heart out again. Not to mention her brother’s warning. Last year she dated a guy who was from Italy but then after a semester he had to return since the allotted exchange was over. He said he was going to talk to his parents about coming back to go to school not to worry he would come back he promised. She waited and she heard and saw nothing of him. Until, Becky (her friend) was on Instagram and called her to get on. She did. Finding out her guy has a new girlfriend-no wait in fact she is his longtime girlfriend that Aimee never knew about. He had been cheating on his girlfriend with her, Aimee.
First, Miles and then him the “Italian Squid.” (My words not the authors.) She was not willing to go there again especially with a guy who would never be around for her. He would be on a tour bus having millions of girls screaming and who knows what else to get his attention. Then the bricks got higher as she was told by her parents she had to be on the tour for 3 weeks since her friend Becky got mono so she couldn’t stay with her until her grandma got home from her vacation. Her parents were called early to go to Doctors without Borders. Since Nick would be interning for the summer with Miles band as a roadie mom called Marsha, Miles’ mom, to arrange her staying with them for 3 weeks. Aimee was not happy with the arrangements.
You see Aimee used to be Miles’ Biggest fan. Had a major crush on him. She even had a blog about him. Until her brother, Nick, told her the truth about what Miles thought of her. Nick said Miles thought that she was a pest who had always had been a tag-along. That crushed her crush. She got rid of everything Music, posters, magazines, memorabilia, and asked Becky to get rid of the blog.
Her first day on tour, Miles walks up to her as if he knows her and then it becomes very clear he had no clue who she was. The funny thing was that he looked at her in a sexually interested male. Then, her phone rang and she said she needed to take it and walked away. When she returned to the spot she saw he was talking to Nick so she thought well Nick told him who she was. When she was only a few steps away she heard Nick say “Bro Code” and “Stay away and don’t make me hit you.” Miles looked shocked when he looked at her again.
You see she had a growth spurt over winter/fall, her hair was longer and not so curly, and her boobs well grew too. She was smug, a little hurt and a whole lot of MAD! She played it off. At first they just circled each other and then they ended up clearing the air…
This was such an enjoyably sweet love story. The writing keeps your interest all the way through. In your mind’s eye you could see the shenanigans unfold and find yourself smiling. There was such an innocence to this story that you rarely see anymore. Two people having an inner love, friendship and yet having good clean fun. I gave this 5 stars. Provided by Net Galley.

When I first heard Entangled was doing a series like this one, I was so onboard. I absolutely love all things music and boybands. I could relate to Aimee on so many levels, but the main one being that I ALSO wrote fanfiction when I was in high school. And I totally put it out there on a website. (No, don't ask I will NOT share. Rofl.) I was obsessed with all things Backstreet Boys and then Nsync, so reading about Seconds to Juliet was so much fun and reminded me of when I was younger. I read a lot of fanfiction as well, so following Aimee on tour with S2J was right up my alley!

This was just such a fun book. London does a great job employing teen voice and even had me chuckling several times at their vernacular. My favorite part of this book besides the touring setting? The romance. Miles and Aimee are adorable and I love the whole fighting their feelings they have going on in the beginning. Aimee hates feeling like the annoying little sister in Miles' eyes and Miles can't believe how much Aimee has grown up since he last saw her. He knows he can't violate the guy code of honor though, so his less than appropriate thoughts about Aimee are going to have to go on lockdown. Aimee doesn't know many people on the tour though, so she ends up spending quite a bit of time hanging with Miles and once he clears up a previous misunderstanding, they're on their way to becoming friends. Thankfully, Miles doesn't keep them in the friend zone very long! There is so much kissing in this book that my heart was ready to burst. I always feel like there's not ENOUGH kissing in books! There was plenty here and even a few scenes that had me fanning myself. (YOU GO GIRL FOR PUTTING THOSE IN THERE!) Whew.

Sure, their romance progressed pretty fast and some may call it insta-love, but let's not forget they are teenagers and it doesn't take much for a teen to fall in love. Miles and Aimee enjoy being together as well as the feelings they evoke in one another. They are just too precious and I loved them. We do have a wee bit of drama where things are miscommunicated and conclusions are jumped, but I felt it was enough of a conflict without going overboard.

I also enjoyed getting to meet the other band members, as each book of the series will highlight a different one. Next up is Mia and the Bad Boy! (RYDER!) His book should prove to be quite amusing, as he's the quintessential bad boy of the group and doesn't have much of a filter. We also get to see quite a bit of Trevin in this book, as he seems to be the closest bandmate to Miles. Mia's older brother Nick was also an important character, as Nick ends up being one of the roadblocks in the Aimee-Miles love connection. Miles doesn't want to betray his friend's trust as Nick has warned Miles to steer clear of his sister. Miles met Nick during a really low point in his life, and Nick's friendship ended up being a real positive influence for him. It's understandable he doesn't want to ruin that, but he also isn't going to deny he feels something real for Aimee. Go Miles!

Thank you Entangled for allowing me to relive my boyband obsessive years through this series. I now have the urge to go make myself a boyband playlist on Spotify and hunt down some of my favorite boyband fanfiction. Don't judge me.

Review originally posted on Mostly YA Lit:

I bought Aimee and the Heartthrob as part of a sale on the entire Backstage Pass series from Entangled Teen (99 cents for all five books!). Each book of the series features a different member of a boy band. I was really into Backstreet Boys back when I was a teen, so the whole thing resonated for me.

Aimee and the Heartthrob is exactly the kind of book that Teen Me would have loved - full of angst, quick love, and a boy band member falling for a normal. It reminds me of the Love Stories series that was popular when I was a teenager: paperback juveniles all about the romance. So I get why people like this book: it's fast, cute and dramatic, with the kind of fairy tale romance that I dreamed of as a teen.

The problem is, I'm not a teen anymore, and Adult Me was cringing most of the way through this book. The characters were archetypes who had weak development (did anything happen where Aimee wasn't whining or Miles wasn't brooding? And the brother!), and the book was SO immature. When words (and spellings) like "dafuq" "pix" and "OMFG#%*^&" show up, I pretty much want to vomit. The uneven writing didn't stop there, either: Miles is British, so his slang felt right, but sometimes the other (American) characters would have weird moments where they used British slang as well.

The whole thing read like fanfiction, which I guess is part of the story and voice of Aimee. Honestly, though, it just made me wonder what I was reading. There were a lot of moments when I felt like Aimee and Miles were super young teens (the way they talked read so young). Then the steamy moments would come in and I would think I was reading a New Adult novel. Total whiplash. There were also moments when I was told that so-and-so was a great person, but I didn't really SEE it. In fact, most of the characters spent a lot of time lying and not communicating.

I honestly feel like Aimee and the Heartthrob could have been a lot better with a hard edit; the concept is compelling and the swoony moments are good. But hey, it's a steamy, fast romance that teens will probably eat up. If you're an adult, though, don't expect anything other than mind-numbing fluff.

Aimee and the Heartthrob mixes up the rockstar/brothers best friend romance. Throw in a manufactured, all be it talented, boy band, reality TV and public image and you have the basis of the story ;)

Both Aimee and Miles have altered drastically since they last saw each other 2 years ago. Aimee has developed into a stunning young woman with a bright and bubbly personality, fiercely loyal and kind. She is an imaginative blogger with previous fan fiction experience, bear this little piece of information in mind for later. I really liked her.

Miles had been badly burned with his previous 2 relationships. In his position it is difficult to trust especially when his most intimate moments could be turned into publicity fodder. His character progression from the start of the book to the end was very well portrayed. Initially I felt he was a product of his own publicity, buying into the whole heartthrob persona. As Miles and Aimee get re-acquainted a different picture of Miles is drawn, allowing the reader to feel more sympathetic to his situation.

The restrictions placed on the members of the band and the control other people have over them was enlightening. The idea that people in powerful positions manipulate situations for their own gain added to the tension within the narrative. Playing on the insecurities of the characters for their own personal gain was an additional eye-opening piece of tension within the narrative.

The story highlighted the dangers of posting things of the internet. No matter how far you bury them they can always come back to bite you in the bottom ;) Fan fiction taken out of context can just be seen as creepy, especially when based on real people.

There are so many books featuring both rockstars and best friends brothers it is a difficult task to bring anything original to the table. Aimee and the Heartthrob is a cute romantic quick read, perfect to while away a sunny afternoon ;)

You know those authors that you will buy their book without even reading the synopsis??
Well, Ophelia London is quickly becoming one of those authors for me. Everything I have read by her I have loved...

She writes such fabulous stories and I easily fall in to each and every one of them.
Aimee and the Heartthrob was definitely no exception and in fact I wanna say it could be my favorite so far. I devoured this book and when I finished I was so angry because UGH it was over...
Aimee and Miles were such fun, refreshing characters that I couldn't put their story down.
Literally I read this book in a few hours and even as I sit here writing this, all I want to do is dive right back in to their amazingly beautiful, romantic love story...
Aimee and the Heartthrob is a brilliantly written tale that depicts young love with its trials and tribulations. Aimee and Miles will capture your heart with their snarky humor and delightful personalities...
You will be so wrapped in their captivating story that when the time comes for it to end, it will physically make you ill. Their world has charmed...dazzled...just totally mesmerized me and I wish there was more..
I definitely recommend this book and it is one of my favorite reads of the year so far!!!

**I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.**

This book was so adorable! The writing was nothing extraordinary but it was a cute fun read. Just what I was looking for. Even though the plot was at times predictable I still found myself enjoying it. I basically read this all in one sitting because I had to find out what happened. If you are looking for a quick easy contemporary read then give this a shot!

I have read this book a few times now and sometimes I love it and sometimes it's just too cheesy for me. I guess it just depends on my mood or something. This story is very fangirl heavy but if you're in the mood for that you'll dig this for sure. The story is every fangirls dream honestly. A hot British heartthrob falling in love with his childhood best friends sister? Yes ma'am lol. Overall I'd say it is a fun light read. Just don't go into it wanting something super deep because you'll be disappointed. Great for what it is though. I've moved my rating from 4 to 3 stars.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review this title!

I haven't read a fluffy, cheesy, gushy book like this in a long while and I really enjoyed it. I absolutely love books that just suck you into the romance and make you experience all the feels.
The idea that a girl could fall in love with a pop star I just ate up. Their journey from becoming friends to more than friends was just super adorable. All the characters were really great and sassy. At times though, it got a little cheesy and the characters acted a bit immature for their ages. Other than that I had tons of fun reading this book.
This definitely isn't something that's for everyone. If your around my age (I'm 16) you will probably enjoy this because its very much up to date with today's slang and technology. With that, sometimes when the author incorporated things like "OMG" into this story it felt as though it was for a much younger audience.

But I can say I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a really nice lighthearted read and I'll probably continue to read other works of this authors.

(Source: I received an ARC of this book for free. Thanks to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, LLC, Crush and Ophelia London.)

“You might be a bullshitting poser, but you’re also a good guy. The best I know.”

Unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations, but they were not so high.
Yes it was cute, but there was soon much drama, it was such a drag, and the main characters... well let's say I didn't like him that much. They were an OK characters, but not more.
Aimee was needy, and Miles was selfish. He was ready to ruin the whole band(and he said it himself, like he was ready for leave) just to get the girl.
I liked the band mates, and I really hope their books would be better.
And I liked Nick.
I definitely didn't like LJ lol

Overall, it was an OK book.

*I'm literally having 90s boy band flashbacks*

I love when novels are realistic. that is the one thing i look at when writing a review. whether or not the characters and situations are relateable. Therefore, there is one minor glitch to this story..... there is no way two parents would be okay with their teenage daughter going on a tour with 5 testostorone filled teenage boys not to mention staying in a bus with the crew...this is way to random.

I had a really hard time getting into this novel.

i did enjoy the novel when I got a little past the halfway point. i thought Aimee and Miles had some cute moments.

as of right now I'm not sure if I'll continue on with the boxset or not. i may try to read something else and come back to it
