Oliver Stanton and Ellenor Stevens have more in common than their love for theatre. A need to escape. For Elle, it's compulsions. For Oliver, it's Mania. When fate pulls them together, they find something new: a reason to face things. But after Oliver's attempt to get help goes horrifically wrong, he begins to wonder. Does her really need to be "normal"? Or is it enough to just be alive?
This was one of my favorite reads in 2018. 'Alive' is thought-provoking and extremely well-written. You can tell how much energy and heart that Lisa Slack put into this novel. The characters are realistic and relatable; the exploration of mental illness is so spot on. I immediately connected with the characters and couldn't put the book down for want of learning what was going to happen next. Would highly recommend joining Elle and Oliver on their journey.
