**** In the Virginia and D.C. area, we have Alex, an ex-military, ex-secret service, security expert who lost his husband five years ago. On an armoured truck detail, Alex saves the day when he tackles the three hooded bank robbers. Alex... In that experience a beautiful older businessman is shoved down, and later that man, Connor, wanted to thank "hero" Alex, and offer him a job. Connor, owns a company concerned with waste management and preserving the environment, and he needs a bodyguard because of an attempt on his life. Alex meets with him and their talks and facts have Alex saying, yes.
There is conflict with a housekeeper Conner has know his whole life, but Connor stands his ground. He and Alex become involved in more than the protection aspect, as they become lovers, too. We get the exciting sexy times.
The wonderful characters are strong, smart, caring and lovable. As they slowly proceed to fall in love, more attempts are made on Connor's life, and together they try to unravel the mystery. Who could possibly want to harm Connor? I also loved Alex's best friend Margorie.
We see questions, the process of elimination, and their findings. This was terrifically interesting and hard to put down. ENJOY !
So much potential...wasted. I loved Alex and Connor. But sometimes it was hard to follow how certain events went down. If I have to re-read an action scene like 3 times to get it, then no it's not ok. The animosity against Alex in the household was pointless. Everyone seemed to hate him. Why? Anyway.
I'm pretty bummed that I didn't like this story better. The plot itself has enormous potential, but everything else, was awful. The writing didn't flow, the editing wasn't good, and it was difficult to follow anyting including the star of the show, the traffic. Was really hoping for a much better read on this one.
Editing and proofreading were desperately needed. Women didn't fare well in this book, from the law enforcement officer and her messy hair, to the witchy security boss, Ruby. I also didn't care for the female bestie to be referred to throughout as "fat". The mystery wasn't great; the bodyguarding was incompetent.
This was a DNF for me pretty early into reading it. This is not the first book from this author that I have tried to read. I think I've gotten through some of them, but not all. I think at this point, this is a no-read author for me. I just don't gel well with his books. It's nothing personal and it's on me. So, to be fair to him, his books, and other readers I'm not going to rate this one. It wouldn't be fair of me to do so especially since this was just a matter of this one not being for me.
