Meet author Michelle Cunnah, a fresh new voice, and the lovable characters she creates. It’s Emma’s thirty-first birthday, and everything is going swimmingly with her new love. Sure, he’s been called away for a business trip on her birthday, and sure, this business trip also involves a gorgeous, perfect, voluptuous colleague, and sure, there’s a weird ring hiding in his underwear drawer that doesn’t fit Emma, in size or style. But that’s no reason to get worried, right? Right?!? Emma knows she should stop obsessing, but suddenly it seems that Jack is every bit the commitment-phobe she fears. And if that doesn’t keep her busy enough, she’s just inherited 9 ½ historic inches of the fence that her long-lost aunt chained herself to for women’s rights, leaving her hopelessly involved in the Hoboken United Sisters Suffragette Institution (HUSSI), and Jack is too buried in his work (but hopefully not his co-worker) to help her extricate herself. It’s starting to seem like the only way for Emma to get Jack’s attention is to chain herself to a fence and burn her bra. Not that Emma has any problem doing exactly that ...
The equally cute sequel to Michelle Cunnah's 32AA. The story picks up several months from where 32AA left off. Emma and Jack are happily dating, but not living together...at least, not officially. All seems well until a horrible menace, otherwise known as Jack's boss, Claire Palmer, threatens to drive a wedge between Jack and Emma. This time, Emma seems to be the only one not fooled by Claire's nature.
I really enjoyed reading about these characters again in this fun follow-up and hope that Ms. Cunnah decides to revisit them in a future book. It would make a cute series...akin to Wendy Markham's "Slightly" series.
I loved 32AA so I was surprised to find myself honestly not too thrilled with this sequel when I started out which is why it took me so long to finish it but fortunately what started out slow and a bit boring got much, much better in the second half. In fact, once I reached the 2nd half I went straight through to the end without putting it down. I still get irritated how the author thinks someone with 32AA breasts can slap on a gel bra and suddenly have massive cleavage. smh. Jack is so obtuse there were several times I wanted Emma to just say to hell with him and leave the guy but in true romance novel fashion, there is a happily ever after at the end and you have to love a book with an adorable 3-legged doggie.
Too much time wasted on miscommunication. While it was entertaining, I guess I wanted more of a romance. This was an easy read, and the friendships between Emma and her bests is empowering and awesome.
Emma Taylor is a single New Yorker with a lovely boyfriend, Jack. Then, his boss, Claire Palmer jumps on the scene and makes Emma think there is something to worry about. Emma's great aunt dies and thus starts a mission to "earn" the inheritance from the former suffragette, which lands Emma in predicament after predicament. She worries about her future with Jack and is also bombarded with the troubles of her good friends - all of whom have issues in the love and relationship departments. In the end, the answer turns out to be what she wanted all along.
Implausible from the start, but enjoyable nonetheless. The side stories about HUSSI were annoying, but I concede, integral to the plot. The ending is a total rip-off of "Never Been Kissed" and this is a 2004 book, so it isn't vice versa. As one of the millions of books these days that is in the "desperate aging girl wanting marriage at any cost without any interest in self-fulfillment" category, it is a good comical option that knows not to take itself too seriously. (Likely because the author is married!)
This lived-up to expectations as vacation "fluff" reading.
Perfect for an afternoon read. Back to reading Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, I suppose. Laughed a few times and Jack was just adorable! I'm glad that whatever reservations the heroine had before was immediately countered by her realization that not everything revolves around physical beauty and that her obsession with her cups were groundbreaking. Wished there was more resolution to Claire's story, that woman deserves a more gruesome ending.
In any case, this was cute. Perfect for an afternoon pa-cute read. :)
Do you ever read all the way through a book and still not get why they called it what they did? This is one of those books. Has absolutely nothing to do with phones (Except the usual bit of people talking on them) I know it's a really minor thing to get hung up on, but it really irks me.
Other than that, the book is pretty standard chick-lit. Guy+girl+wackiness=semi brit-lit chick-lit. Nothing spectacular here.
I really liked this one. Its cute and sweet and how can there be anything wrong with that? I think that Cunnah is a victim of bad book cover/title taste. Her books really are much better than the covers would suggest. So, if you can get past that, you will enjoy her stories.
This is a follow up story to 32AA. It is another good book, my only complaint would be the use of the "F" word. I'm not a prude but I really think the book would have been just as great without that word.
I liked it. Was a wonderful part 2 to her first novel 32AA picked right up from where the last book left off. So I already "knew" all the characters and what was going on. So if you plan on reading this read 32AA first or you will be highly confused.
great follow up to book 1. i think i fell in love with jack even more in this book. just wish she would have told a few of her 'friends' to f-off when they were being stupid lol.
I picked up this and it's sequel to read on vacation - they were not great - most of the characters were annoying but it was a beach read so I wasnt expecting too much.
