This book is an inspirational story about the journey of a little girl named Bella, who defines love and exudes hope while faced with physical challenges from a disability. Every part of this Bella's journey was unexpected, from her premature birth at 29 weeks to her progression in defying her physical disability which the medical community can’t explain. The surprises and hurdles in Bella's life brought her father to his knees breaking him from the person he once was. Her father was so focused on helping restore her that he didn't realize that she was working with God restore his spirit.
I bought this book expecting to read an uplifting story about a young girl defying the medical experts and ‘Learning How to Walk’. While there are stops throughout the book detailing Bella’s progress, the story has more to do with her father ‘learning how to walk’, in a less literal sense. This did not stop me finding it an enjoyable read.
In my opinion, this book would benefit from immersing the reader into the story by showing them what happened as it happened. Another read through to correct some of those pesky typos would help too.
For anyone who enjoys the interpretations of sayings and dreams with religious text, and reading a fascinating journey of father and daughter, ‘Learning How to Walk’ is the book for you.
Lessons Learned from a Special Girl and Her Father
This was a wonderful book about the growth of a father through being his daughters advocate. Through it all, he finds that his daughter is his advocate and leads him on a path of restoration.
This book touched me, and I found many instances in it that related directly to my life, and my walk with God. There are so many life lessons in it that are taught from ‘Bella’ and her relationship with God, and how this strengthened Jeff’s life. Jeff is able to translate that into lessons that will help all of us.
This was an emotional and raw story of inspiration and perseverance. Both dad and daughter grew in this story. I really don’t enjoyed reading Bella’s words of wisdom. She is definitely wise beyond her years.
If you are looking for some direction in your life or just a little pick me up - his book is for you.
