This book is a staple in my household. I have the original edition and have just purchased an updated copy. While the recipes aren't culinary masterpieces, They are all healthy, practical meals which are perfect for families.
The ingredient lists are practical (as in you can buy all the ingredients in a small town grocery store)and short. Many recipes call for canned or frozen items which helps cut down on preparation time. She also gives suggestions on using the recipe in a complete meal, gives you shopping lists, and provides health and exercise tips. The best part is that the book can stand alone on your counter, making it easy to read while cooking.
My favorites are anything in the "Oven, Exercise, Eat" chapter!
I have the original book and it has become a staple in my kitchen.
I love the organization and ease of use in the design of the book. From shopping lists to easy to use recipes, which include side dishes and timing to get everything ready at the same time, this book is definitely User Friendly.
The recipes are not culinary masterpieces, they are healthy, flavorful and easy to prepare.
If you struggle getting dinner on the table check it out. You won't be disappointed.
Zonya's show is one of my absolute favorites. And my favorite section of this book is her crockpot recipes. They are all super easy and incredible delicious. One of the things that puts this on top of my cookbook list is how the book is set up. Each recipe starts with the hands-on time and the cooking time. Then the actual recipes are so easy to follow. It ends with all the nutritional information you would need. For a sometime calorie counter like me this is so useful. I highly recommend this cookbook to everyone!
This cookbook is awesome! She has nutricious meals that actually taste good. Most of them are super easy and quick to make. She has them broken down into 1, 5, 15, and 30 min meals, longer oven recipes, crockpot ones, and more. I'm happy to finally find a health concious recipe book that doesn't rely on artificial sweeteners to make lower calorie meals.
I loved finding her show on KBYU, and she cracks me up w/ her good sense and energy--lots of low-budget, low-cal recipes that are easy and fun, and include time to exercise while you cook (hee-hee). I don't use them all, but things like the "Breakfast cookie" and salmon burgers (from canned salmon!) are great to feel guiltless about
Zonya is enormously corny, but comforting--like she's everybody's mom. She is, however, all business when it comes to healthy eating. Everything in this cookbook is great. I have done dozens of her recipes and I just love every one. If you want to cook healthy, this is a great cookbook to get.
