Verlene was born and raised in the south. Thanks to the military, she's traveled the US, but now calls Sin City home.
Self proclaimed zombie apocalypse enthusiast, word porn peddler, human canvas, Manowarrior, serial grammar killer, rabid Bama fan, accidental dust bunny population specialist, and abuser of the word f*ck. She's thrown live grenades, survived the tear gas chamber and forced road marches, but still thinks writing and publishing are more brutal.
Oh Cait and Josh were so sweet. Both were having difficulty expressing their feelings for fear of ruining the friendship. Some of their interactions made me want to scream to just say what they needed to say. So glad they finally confessed. I only wish there would have been an epilogue to see some time into their future. But, because of this story, I found another author I like.

I read the first three books in the series. They were all novella length, short n sweet.
#1- Her BFF is a guy who has always been there for her. She’s just had another man cheat on her. She decides an FWB relationship may be good for her but it’s complicated when she wakes up after a night in bed with BFF. They finally realize they need to get over themselves and admit to having feels.
#2- She has had the hots for H since they were prepubescents but never had the guts to say/do anything about it and he starts dating her BFF as a teen and it’s a long term on-again/off-again kinda relationship. He finds out BFF has been cheating *again* and MC uses this opportunity to offer up her V-card under the guise of learning. Confused feeling occur, they need space but it all works out in the end.
#3- Roadie whose abusive step-sister is in opening act is asked where injuries came from by hot lead singer of main act. They hang and catch feels. Misunderstanding occurs, she takes off but it all straightens out in the end.
They were all acceptable for what they are, genre-wise, nothing beyond the regular super quick formulaic romance read....it’s not often a story in this genre really stands out, these didn’t. It was a cute idea to get different authors to write the series and there’s nothing truly bad/wrong with them.
Cait is suffering again, another relationship gone, with another guy she wasn't 100% in for but still him cheating hurt. Thank God she had Josh- her best friend- take care of her. If only she had a guy like him.
Cait has been his best friend and completely platonic for a couple of years, and he's seen her heartbroken and sad for many reasons but over another guy was the worst- he wanted her to finally see him as her man. Time to make some changes...
This novella has the right amount of balance between sweet and steamy, it gives you just enough about this pair to see and feel their love without missing out while watching them finally get their HEA.
I am curious about Jocelyn and hope to read her story too.

Our story opens with Josh helping Cait get through yet another break-up, all while his own heart is breaking because he doesn't think she'll ever release him from the friend-zone. A weekend getaway at her family's cabin turns into the perfect opportunity for him to make his case. Cait secretly wants more with Josh, but she's convinced he would never want more than friends with benefits. I loved how devoted Josh was to Cait, regardless of her feelings for him.
This is a sweet romance that I really enjoyed, though it wasn't nearly long enough to get much of a chance to get to know either main character. Their HEA comes after a few unexpected bumps along the road. It's a terrific setup with plenty of chemistry; I just wish it had been a bit more. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
This is the first book I've read by Verlene Landon and it won't be the last. Ms. Landon balances this best friends to lovers with humor and heat. Josh is the perfect best friend for any girl, however he's hopelessly in love with Cait; always there for her when a romantic or family crisis arises. Cait's been looking for a guy just like Josh, little does she realize that she's in love with him too. Ms. Landon weaves a sexy tale of miscommunication, friendship, and love. I enjoyed this novella (and her use of the Magic 8 Ball) and look forward to more books from this author. Her writing is fluid, her characters endearing and likable, and her storyline is well-paced. A great fast, fun read.
This book is a cute best friends to lovers novella. I read this book last night, in roughly an hour and a half. Because I couldn't put it down!
You know that feeling.. the one you get when the couple almost kisses, or when they finally kiss (or more). When you see that romantic scene in a movie. Your heart squeezes and explodes? I call that the feels.. and let me tell you, this book has "the feels" ALL THE WAY THROUGH!
My heart exploded at every little twist and turn, will they or won't they.
Wait.. what just happened... nope back to more feels.
This was a well written, delightful, fun story. I'm so glad I read it, thank you Verlene! Another great read to add to my collection!
Escaping the friend zone can almost be an impossible feat but Josh is up for the challenge. Josh and Cait have been friends for awhile now and Josh has supported her through numerous ups and downs and has fallen for her during this time, the only problem is that Cait has friend-zoned him and Josh doesn't know how to proceed in their relationship. What ensues is a heartwarming tale of two friends who slowly realize their feelings for one another. I love the beautiful friendship they started out with and how it slowly turned into something more. These two are perfect for one another and this book was so enjoyable to read.
This was a fantastic sweet and steamy friends-to-lovers romance from Verlene Landon. Josh and Cait are both recovering from a broken heart; Josh because Cait hasn't noticed him in a romantic way and Cait is going through a breakup. Be Supportive is a captivating must read that readers will fall in love with because of the chemistry between Josh and Cait and their sweet yet rocky relationship. I absolutely loved reading this book from Verlene Landon.

Josh and Cait have been best friends for 2 years. Josh is in love with Cait. Josh has been there for every breakup and loss of job. Her friends see that hes in love but she doesn't. So one weekend they decide to go to her parents cabin before its sold as part of her parents divorce. He plans on telling her his true feelings. Does it work? Have to read to find out
Josh is tired of being in the friend zone. Cait is confused by her new feelings for Josh. Fear of losing their friendship makes them miss opportunities. Would it be so bad for them to be together?
This story was well-written, sweet and to the point. I would have loved an epilogue, though. Definitely recommend, and I look forward to the others in the series.

After loving Cait as a best friend Josh has finally decided it's time to escape the friend zone (good luck buddy!). Cait thinks she wants things with Josh to be Friends with Benefits (yeah, like that's gonna work). A weekend getaway starts things off, and things get sexy. I enjoyed the bits of humor in the story- especially the ongoing Magic 8-Ball. And of course, the sexy times are always fun. Loved the story overall.
I really this book by Verlene Landon. Josh and Cait were so into each other even if Cait was slow to catch up. Josh has wanted his best friend for since they became neighbors. He has been there through her breakups, lost jobs, lost promotions, and her parent divorce. After her latest breakup, he decides he is wants out of the friend zone. Will Cait finally see what has been in front of her all along or will she lose Josh for good? Magic 8 ball says "its f*&@ing certain"! Great read.
Josh is stuck in the friendzone while Cait continues to have disastrous relationships. Josh becomes determined to leave the friendzone behind and be all Cait needs, but will she she him as more than a friend or a friend with benefits? Can a weekend away truly change how two people see each other and make them stop hiding their true feelings? Get yourself a copy and see if these two can make it work.
Being placed constantly in the friend-zone is frustrating, especially when both partners the same but fear saying those may ruin the friendship. This is Josh and Caitlyn in a nutshell. These two were so frustrating but this book is definitely worth reading. Verlene is an amazing author and has never steered me wrong with her books.
They had been best friends for so long but he wants more, so much more. Can he get more? What if he suggests a friends with benefits situation? She must be blind not to see just what a hottie her friend is. Will it ever be more? Follow them and see

Every girl needs a best friend like Josh. Such a sweet and steamy story. The author did an awesome job of bring us into the long friendship at the turning point of their relationship. Really hope to see more of these two.
I loved this book, two people meeting by accident and becoming next door neighbors then blossom into vest friends realizing they were in love with each other is priceless.
Cute and quick. The part that bothered me was Cait has sex with him and then tries to insist he go to dinner with someone else. She thinks he doesn't like her more than friends despite his repeated statement that he doesn't want to date anyone but her.
This book turned into sweet, super fun friends with benefits story and blossomed into a steamy, magical, friends and lovers forever happy ending story.
I have yet to read a book by Verlene that I don’t like. If you like sweet and sexy, you need to read this. If you like friends to lovers as well, then you definitely need to read this. Once you start this book be prepared to keep reading until it’s finished. I couldn’t put it down.
The story is a light fun read. Josh and Cait are neighbors and best of friends. Josh is in love with Cait. She doesn't see it but her friends do. They decide to take a long weekend to her parents cabin. Here the friendship boundaries are tested. The characters were well written. The storyline good. Some steaminess and sexy times. Grab this book you won't be disappointed
