A serial killer, suspected to be using an RV camper, lures and kills women across the country—and the FBI turns to its youngest and most brilliant agent: 22 year old Riley Paige.
Riley has managed to graduate the FBI academy, determined to make it as an FBI agent. But when she is assigned her first official case with her new partner—Jake—she wonders if she is cut out for the task.
Riley and Jake, immersed in the RV subculture—and into the depths of the killer’s mind—soon realize that nothing is what it seems. There is a psychopath at large, stumping them at every turn, and willing to stop at nothing until he has killed as many victims as he can find.
With her own future on the line, Riley has no choice but to find out: is her brilliant mind any match for the killer’s?
An action-packed thriller with heart-pounding suspense, TAKING is book #4 in a riveting new series that will leave you turning pages late into the night. It takes readers back 20 plus years—to how Riley’s career began—and is the perfect complement to the ONCE GONE series (A Riley Paige Mystery), which includes 14 books and counting.

I found this a bit more enjoyable as I liked the RVing aspect. A very clever storyline. I do wish Riley and her partner would stop the fighting. Sheesh, like an old married couple. Still I understand why he’s doing it, although I don’t think he will ever get her to comply with the rules. 😏 I am also enjoying Riley coming 8 to her own voice and authority. Will be interesting to go on to the final 5th book.
I can’t get enough of this prequel series! This installment starts off with Riley graduating from the Academy and getting her badge – the start of her official career. After what she went through with the last case, she is excited to get some normalcy from the FBI by starting out based in the DC office. The day of graduation though, she is served with papers changing her office from DC to Quantico, and assumes she has Jake to thank for that. Upon arrival, Jake informs Riley to turn around as they are heading to their next crime scene, which unbeknownst to her is unsanctioned. Once they are there though and obtain the information they need, they quickly realize a serial killer is gaining traction and take over the investigation. A lot of the storyline focuses on Riley getting more comfortable with her feelings in regards to how she can connect with the killers, but also gaining a voice as a FBI agent. Where as before she was meek and still learning, she is gaining confidence in her abilities and work. The only confusing part of the puzzle is her relationship with Ryan. We know where the relationship with him stands within the “present” day from the original Riley Page series, but it’s interesting to go back and see how they got to where they were at the start of that series. While I thought they had the perfect relationship, these past few books have shown me that is not the case and their relationship seems complex. As always, love that this author has taken a different approach and is writing a series that goes back in time to show how the characters we love started off and it’s amazing. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I think this one felt a bit rushed. Also I understand it's a dangerous profession but I feel like Riley needing to be rescued every book is getting old. I'm hoping the next ones are better. Still a great book
Great book. Just wish she would get rid of that annoying selfish fiancé of hers. He is so proud of her when she is done with a case, hurt or on the news. But he doesn't want her to work for FBI. Unfortunately he is needed to make the book great. This is one of my favourite series from Blake Pierce. Book it just dark enough without turning gruesome.
Camping can get you killed especially if you're a solo woman. A serial killer is on the hunt and his choice...of course it's any woman who is foolish enough to trust this charmer. It will take Agent Crivaro and the new academy graduate Riley Sweeney with her special talents to bring him down. Jake has had Riley assigned to him as his new partner and they are destined to do great things.
Mr. Pierce has crafted yet another exciting book in the Making of Riley Paige series. What's not to love? This reader has been hooked on Riley Paige since the beginning and I can't wait for the next story.
This the making of Riley Paige with Agent Jake Crivaro and Rilee y Paige finds Riley on a trip to Arizona with her partner as soon as she arrives on Monday morning. Jake is going there to check out a case of the murder of women traveling alone in RVs. This we find out the BAU has not even sanctioned this case yet, Jake was just checking it out for a friend. This turned out to be exciting, interesting and even twisted in a strange way. Of course I love Riley Paige and I love the author Blake Pierce and I highly recommend this book 📚📖🤗.
I received a free copy of this book and agreed to give my honest review. I really like this book. Blake is a really good author and comes up with some wonderful storylines. Her character Riley Paige is easy to like and you find yourself rooting for her to get the bad guy! It's a nice easy read and a wonderful way to spend a cozy night snuggled under a blanket in your favorite chair. I highly recommend!
Riley is coming along, learning how to best use her skills. Meanwhile her partner is considering retirement. And her fiance just doesn't get her and has not fully accepted her career choice. I keep wondering when she will realize he is not her person. She is so young. She will learn, hopefully before she makes the huge mistake of marrying him. On to book 5. Blake, get an editor.
I love this entire series, including the prequels, but I have to say, a few have not been up to par with the others and this is one of those. I do have to say that the narrator of the audiobook may have been a part of that...the story is set in Arizona and the accents she tried to pull off sounded like something from a cartoon. That probably added to my not enjoying this one as much as previous books in the series.
As a graduate of the FBI academy, Riley is excited to start her career. She finds she's been assigned to partner with Agent Crivaro. Together they head to Arizona to investigate a murder similar to one the year before in Colorado only this isn't a sanctioned FBI investigation. Will Riley and Agent Crivaro find what they are looking for? Can they stop a killer?
An excellent continuation of the making of Riley. I am captivated by Riley's special powers of deduction and you just want her to trust her feeling and to convimce others that she is right. Cant wait to read the next book
Still some editorial errors but a fun quick read. Agent Riley Sweeney gets paired with her mentor Crivaro and he whisks her off to check out a killed hiker in Arizona. Could it be linked to a cold case? Could this be a serial killer coming back out? Will agent Crivaro tell her he feels burnt out?
