A KILLER WHO LIKES TO TALK.
A COP WHO LIKES TO LISTEN.
A CLIMAX THAT COULD LEAVE BOTH MEN DEAD!

What Amazon Readers are saying about Ian Patterson's THE CHATTERBOX KILLER:

"Graphic and relentless..."
"Great from start to finish..."
"...well-written psychological mystery."
"... I was on the edge of my seat, anticipating what was to come. So many delicious plot twists kept me on my toes."
"I couldn't put it down...kept me wondering what next."

It's a slow Monday at Manhattan's Midtown North Precinct when NYPD Detective Dexter Fortune takes the call. Recently returned to duty, Fortune is willing enough to be amused by what he believes to be a crank caller. But after listening to the man describe how he killed two women with a third victim awaiting discovery, Fortune soon realizes this call is no joke.

Reunited with his partner, Detective Gabriella Fernandez, the pair race to apprehend a devious serial killer intent on adding to his body count. But to catch this killer, Fortune and Fernandez must uncover secrets long buried in the past. With the Mayor, the Chief of Police, and the City watching and the media treating the killer dubbed "The Chatterbox" like a celebrity, the detectives become caught-up in a game of catch-me-if-you-can with a killer promising more victims.

Taunted by late-night phone calls from The Chatterbox, a sleep-deprived Fortune is seduced by the killer into making it personal. A killer who delights in manipulating and deceiving Fortune into drawing false and dangerous conclusions.

Finally, convinced of the man's identity and with his superiors unwilling to act, Fortune defies authority to force The Chatterbox into the open. In doing so, he comes face-to-face with a predator he realizes, too late, he has seriously underestimated.

Desperate to save the people he cares for and loves, Fortune is lured into a violent confrontation that could leave him, The Chatterbox, or both men dead.

And for The Chatterbox? This suits him just fine.

Absolutely a page turner surely on my opinion it's a must read. As it is rather difficult to write about a thriller without giving away important plot points, the only thing that I can say is that I am confident that every new reader will enjoy this book as much as I have.

A very awesome book cover, & proper great font & writing style. A very well written crime thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great serial killer movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

Hold onto your hats! The Chatterbox Killer by Ian Patterson starts on Monday, August 12 with the killer calling the station to report his victim’s death and that he is a serial killer. In less than 10 days the bodies have pilled up and the talkative killer, nicknamed The Chatterbox Killer has set up a confrontation with Detective Dexter Fortune. Who will survive?

I could not put this book down. This is a fast-paced psycho-thriller that I highly recommend. The character development and dialog are superb, the plot is tight, and the red herrings will keep you guessing. The only drawback for me is that the author does not know how to use pronouns. I was often distracted by incorrect usage and found myself yelling at Mr. Patterson. For these repeated offenses I have deducted one star.

If the misuse of pronouns does not offend you, I think you will fully enjoy The Chatterbox Killer by Ian Patterson.

Never underestimate a serial killer

I had never read Ian Patterson's book before, and this one was full of action and packed with fast-paced adventure and twists and turns every chapter.
The author did a splendid job of creating a group of great characters and a storyline that kept the reader engaged and wanting to continue guessing who the killer was.
I loved the protagonist, Dexter Fortune, who was a great noir detective who had to endure a lot of heat from the NYPD and his department to continue to search for the killer who was always one step ahead of him.
This book was definitely an intense suspenseful roller coaster thriller of a ride, and I look forward to reading more from this author.

NYPD Detective Dexter Fortune has returned to duty when he gets a call that he, at first, thinks is a crank call about how this guy has killed two women with another waiting in the wings. But after listening to him, he decides it is no crank call at all. Reunited with his partner, Detective Gabriella Fernandez, together they try to find this serial killer before he can kill again. But the whole world is watching, and the higher-ups are not too happy about this. What happens, prepare yourself, this is not a bedtime story, and may not be for everyone. I found it very interesting from a police officers point of view. Loved it! I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.

Fame & Fortune

A chance phone call connects a killer with a cop. Recently returned to duty Det. Dex Fortune takes a call he first thinks is a joke. But a serial killer who likes to talk is ready to engage him in a deadly game of cat and mouse. As the body count mounts, Fortune is forced to go it alone.

This is a good police procedural NYC is convincingly portrayed. It gets a bit convoluted and it would ha ve been better without the addiction and sexy partner subplots. The killer's motivation, namely fame, is less than convincing. Still a fun read.

GreatRead

This book was really good and the characters were fantastic. Fortune is a good cop who will do anything to keep his partner Gabby safe along with he other colleagues. The story was twisted and fast paced. I highly recommend this book,I hope this will become an on going series. I love the characters and the challenges they had to go through. Read the book, you won’t be disappointed.

What a great and well-written story. This police detective mystery was much different from other ones I have read. The death toll keeps rising with no clues as to who the killer is. I found the final chapter so gripping that I stayed up until 3-15 am to finish it. Although I received a free copy of the book, my review is based on the fact that had I but known how good this book would turn out to be I would have willingly paid for a copy.

Great Thriller!
This was a hang-on-to-your-seat kind of thriller! Detectives Fortune & Fernandez are kept busy trying to figure out who this killer is! There is many twists, and when you think there is an answer... well, maybe not. Really, what kind of killer talks TO the police? Well, you will have to read this book to find out!
The ending was great!
Thank you, Ian Patterson, for a great story!

Good story

This was a pretty good story, about a cop defying authority (and you should suspend belief in some parts) to bring justice to his victims, although I thought it was overly descriptive. There were also quite a few editing errors that were quite noticeable too. And of course there are still some loose ends. Not bad.

A very entertainign and actioned packed book. Dex Fortune takes a 911 call which turns int0 a manhunt for a so-called serial murder nick named The Chatterbox Killer. Can Dex and his partner Gabrielle Fernandez find the murder in time to prevent more innocent persons being killed. Very suspenseful reading and well worth the time.

This book had plenty of intrigue, leading me to believe wrongly about the identity of the serial killer.
The detective doesn't give up, getting himself into a lot of trouble with his superiors, but it works out in the end.

I like each novel to stand alone, but since it wasn't the case in this book, I'll have to keep reading.

4.5/5⭐: At first this book seems a bit disjointed, better editing would've helped a lot. In the 1st roughly 3rd of the book it kinda seems like part of it is being told from a narrator's point of view (think Dragnet) which I think is kinda of a neat idea. This book was an absolute page turner with a great story and good characters. Hopefully the next 2 in this series are just as good.

Superb Book

I enjoyed the way it was written from a cop's perspective which included appropriate explanations of their hierarchy within the profession. The story moved along until it reached a crescendo. Quite enjoyable.

A fun read with endearing characters. Visualising many of the scenes created an unimaginable scenario. Who crawls on their belly across gravel and tree branches when wishing to remain unseen and unheard? “Either” was continuously used when “neither” would have been appropriate

This starts off really good, but I was basically skimming the pages by the time i got half way through, it just didn't hold me, though from three quarters through it picked up again and was really good.

This book captivated me from the very beginning. The characters were well rounded and the writing was superb. It's a cat and mouse game as Dex, Gabby and their team try to find the Chatterbox which makes for a suspenseful story and a thrilling ride all the way to the end.

Pretty Darn Good

First time reading this author though I see he's written many books. I really liked the characters. Just hope this Chatterboox Killer isn't going to be in the whole series. We'll see.

Suspenseful as it was entertaining. Aptly named, Simon talks too much for my liking. I liked the tenacity of the core group of cops and their conviction to get the job done. This braggert is relentless in his evil games of taunting and killing. I new the ending would be like that!!!!

Like a rollercoaster ride, the murderer taunts Detective Dex Fortune like a puppet. When Dex meets face to face, he almost dies.
