So it was fabulous to be back in the badlands and continue the story here with "Degenerates" the next generation of savages.
Settling in with a whole new chapter and cast: the offspring of the previous books now get their chance to shine in the spotlight of this messed up wasteland and as usual, this was pretty hardcore right from the get-go.
Blood, gore murder and mayhem is the name of the game here and this particular author is the queen of dark.
So this story features Adelaide Savage Princess and Zane Venomous prince.
These two both from separate factions along with their families join forces to rescue their siblings who have gone AWOL somewhere over in district 9.
So Savage and Venom working and coming together here in more ways than one.
A match made in heaven and sweet hell.
This is a series I adore so much so was ever so excited to get stuck in here and though this isn't my favourite of the badland books for me this was still a great addition to the series.
I don't think this one was as particularly dark as others by this author but this was still pretty darn gruesome in places.
I really liked the growing connection between Addy and Zane: but I wasn't a fan of Zane's little friend's inclusion at the start of this; I just didn't see the need.
Hope that little number isn't going to come back at a later date and throw a spanner in the works: unrequited feelings are savage can see that one coming back to bite Zane in the bum.
was also fantastic to catch up briefly with all the old gang: though this is predominantly now the kid's roadshow.
This was as you would expect ramped up and despite thinking It wouldnt catch me unawares did manage to throw a giant curveball that I just never saw coming.
If you like your fiction on the psychotic sick side then this should definitely tick all your boxes.
It certainly ticked mine.
I voluntary reviewed an Arc of Degenerates (Badlands Book Five).
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

While I enjoyed this one overall, it wasn't one of my favorites by this author. One, it felt like it took forever for these two to even spend five minutes in each others company, and then BAM insta-love. I would have liked a bit more fleshing out in that regard. Two, even though this author writes super dark books one of the things I love is that they are usually OW free. The whole "fuck buddy" thing turned me off of Zane. Maybe if Addy hadn't been a virgin (groan) which I found completely unrealistic, to begin with, I would have felt differently. I just didn't need to read about Zane fucking around while he bides his time. It added nothing to the story for me and just came across as a pointless scene to up the word count. *shrug*

description

Apart from those two issues, the book was entertaining. As I have said about 600000 times at this point, I enjoy this author's writing. It has a certain ease to it that makes it very readable. The pace of this one was a little off for me. Mainly because it took a bit too long to get this couple together and their relationship started. That said, I never found myself bored or wanting to skim. The story kicked into high speed around 50% with some shocking twists and turns. As per usual with this author, there was plenty of blood and gore. Death and destruction. Hot sex scenes. Cameos from characters of the previous books. An intriguing cast of secondary characters and both Zane and Addy were likable psychopaths. Last, it all wrapped up on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see where this story is headed, and I will keep my fingers crossed that there isn't going to be any drama caused by the fuck buddy...sigh.

"Everything degenerate flourished in the blackest corners of the sickest minds.

How come I waited so long before experiencing the universe of Natalie Bennett's Darklands?
That book was everything I needed at the moment, playing with my boundaries.

The author thoroughly used the ultra-violence to serve the plot, enhancing the mystery, the horror show.
Fast-paced, Degenerates (Darklands New Generation #1) took me into a breathtaking chase, filled with action and intensity.
"I naively thought I’d be able to handle this—handle him— but nothing could have prepared me for the beautiful tragedy that was, Zane Belial."

I discovered the different characters with this book, as well as their families whose stories I will explore in the previous installments. Prince and princess, gangs members and royal blood enticed me. I couldn't put the book down, I needed to know the outcome and find out the truth of the alliances. Danger, betrayals, tension...welcome to the Darklands. Rescue quest? Revenge mission? Zane and Addie captured my interest from the get-go. Their vision of romance only belongs to them, which made me smile (and fan myself)
"If my princess wanted romance she could sit her pussy on my face and I’d write some poetry with my tongue."

If you are in the mood for a thrilling, dangerous, striking dark story, this one is for you!

“I hate you. I’m obsessed with you. You’re everything I want. I’m everything you need.”

I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ARC COPY OF THIS BOOK. THANK YOU!!!

Degenerates is book 5 in the Badlands series and the start of the New Generation. Now while I enjoyed it, I felt the beginning was a little rough and messy. Adelaide is the daughter of Calista and Romero and Zane, you would need to read book 3 to find out more about his parents. I thought their chemistry was hot but I found the insta love a little off. Overall not my favorite but as with the other books in this series it's addicting and I already downloaded book 6.

Degenerates is the first book in the Next Generation series that follows the offspring of the Badlands Bunch from the first four books. Adelaide Deville (Savage Princess) is Romero and Calista's daughter. (baby S from Savages) Zane Belial (Venom Prince) is the kid they were looking for in Heathens. I believe he is Tilly/Tellie/Tiffany and Vitus’ kid. I thought he was the one believed to be Cobra’s, but I think that was another kid. (I found this part confusing) Regardless, he spent his first 5 or so years in a prison, and then was raised underground with the Venom.

The parent’s books pretty much all followed a formula, and she’s tweaked it for the kids. The biggest differences are the level of violence and the length of time it takes the couples to get together. All the couples have had this instant soul connection from the start, but where their parents jumped in when it was time for their book, these kids take their time. Addie & Zane don’t even meet until about 20%, and even that is a quick interaction then they go their separate ways. They don’t even have a somewhat conversation until about 38% in. It’s slow going then BOOM! They’re all in.

Also, whereas the previous books were chucked full of abuse and gore…this wasn’t near as trigger worthy. There’s still killing, but not the level of torture and rape we’ve seen in the past. It makes sense that the kids wouldn’t be nearly as bloodthirsty as their parents, because they’ve been protected from the abuse they endured.

Bottom Line- I didn’t enjoy this one as much. Pretty much everything happens in the second half, and it’s great once you get there…but it’s slow going up to that point. I liked the mc’s, but Addie’s character was a bit too naïve for me. We’re told REPEADELY just how badass and dark she is, but we’re showed a sheltered clueless virgin. She reminded me a bit of Blue’s character. I also didn’t love Zane getting with Darrian on page. As a whole the series has had very little OW drama. Most past lover stuff is glossed over and never really talked over between the mc’s. Grimm & Cobra slept with others after they met Arlen & Blue, but before their “couple” book started. I just didn’t care for them sexing it up after he met Addie. I did like that they had a more “normal” relationship that felt love based rather than just an obsession. IMO, he also treats her better than the 3 previous H’s, so there’s that. We’re left with a bit of a cliffy and the story will continue onto Nyx & Maliki’s book. ** Lucien (Heathen’s epilogue) is now Lucifuge

FAMILY TREE
Romero + Cali- Adelaide, Lucifuge, Belladonna
Grimm + Arlen- Nyx, Samael
Cobra + Blue- Braxton (AKA Butcher), Cameron, Lilith

Dark, deviant, bloody and all kinds of addicting!

Not that I’m all that surprised.

Ok. Not surprised at all. I loved the first generation Savages and couldn’t wait to get to know their offspring and they are just as deviant and morally altered as their parents and I loved getting to know them and a whole new sect of characters.

Addy and Zane were a lot of fun, of the bloody and crazy kind, but still fun and I loved watching as they became more than enemies. Zane is all kinds of Alpha AF. Dominate and yet loyal, he takes what he wants when he wants. Addy is the Savage princess and definitely lives up to that title. Soulless, though not heartless, deviant and loyal. She is the total package. Their journey is definitely antagonistic, but it only made the connection between them burn hotter and brighter and prove they are perfect for each other.

As with the previous books, I was sucked in from the start, though I’ll admit that things did start off on a bit of a slower pace, but it didn’t take long for things to pick up and the twists and turns are numerous and I cannot wait to see how everything works out. As for the secondary characters, I’m looking forward to getting to know them all a lot better. Maliki and Cam are high on the list, but Nyx is the one that intrigues me the most, so bring on Hellions!

Fast-paced, fucked up, bloody brilliant.

I was sucked straight into Zane and Addie's story and I LOVED it! It has all the darkness and brutality I've come to expect from the Badlands series and a combustible heat between two equally so characters.

The push and pull between Zane and Addie, Venom and Savage, was expertly woven and built up into something delightfully wicked. There are so many layers to the characters, and the world-building is so vivid it's astounding.

Fantastic new instalment to the series and the perfect start to the next generation of Badlands characters.

Natalie Bennett's characters introduced me to a new kind of crazy and I totally love it! When I started the Badlands series, I didn't know what to expect since I haven't read anything similar before. These books bring the reader a dark, twisted world with a splash of dystopian to wrap everything together!

I really liked Romero and Cali in the first book "Savages" and I was so eager to get my hands in this one when I realized that it's their daughter's story!

Adelaide "Addy" Deville is everything I anticipated her to be. She has the best qualities of both her parents; Romero's ruthlessness and Cali's twisted golden heart! She may be a princess but don't foul yourself believing she's delicate; she's a Savage through and through.

Our male lead, Zane, had me curious from the first page he was introduced. Trying to rebuilt the empire his father left him, he's now the Venomious Prince. He had his eyes on Adelaide for a long time and she claimed her long before they knew each other.

This two come together when a rival faction kidnapped the youngest Savages and Zane's little brother. Addy is skeptical about Zane because of all the reactions he evokes to her mind and body.

There are too many secrets revealed in every chapter. The book is full of action, hotness, secrets, death, loss and betrayal. Anyone can betray anyone.

This new generation is hotter, darker and crazier than the previous one, so be prepared for a hell of a ride!!!

Addy is the reckless, debauched - Savage Princess.
Zane is the wild, depraved - Venomous Prince.
Together = deliciously perfect

And while her parents Calista & Remero (book 1&2 where it all begins and which I think is the top story in this series and must read) were much fiercer to say, this next generation of savages are eaqully ruthless, psychotic and deviant.

Less is more, there's no need to talk to much when it comes to NB. She’s the queen of dark romance, complete hit and a clean five every single time.

Badlands [Bad-Lands]
-noun
1. Often referred to as hell on earth.
2. A place where humanity has ceased to exist. Cannibals lurk in the shadows. Stronger factions take out the weak.
It’s a place where the satanic Savages reign supreme, beneath the tyranny of a man revered as the devil himself, a deviant self-made king.
That same man just so happens to be my father.
My mother is his queen.

Dark, deviant and disturbing… Natalie Bennett welcomes us back to the brutal world of the Badlands with the next generation of Savages bringing us more debauchery and depravity, featuring Adelaide (Addy), the oldest daughter of the Devil and his wicked Queen - Rome and Cali.

The Badlands hit my list of Top 10 Favorite Reads of 2018 so I am beyond thrilled that this author decided to continue with this series and give me more of what my twisted black heart desires.

Because my inky heart loves the dark side.

With this generation of deviants, we find Addy and her band of savage misfits roaming through the Badlands to find their younger siblings who have been taken by another deadly rival gang - the Stags, only to run into Zane and his crew of the Venom. And when Addy and Zane first meet, there’s an innate hatred between them because of the bad blood shared between their two rival gangs… but there’s something about Zane that she finds intriguing and awakens her demons.

Addy is the Savage Princess. Zane is the Venomous Prince. One is the nitro, the other is the dynamite, and when they collide, an explosive chemistry is ignited between the two and had I’d been reading an actual book instead of my Kindle, the pages would’ve incinerated because DAMN… these two were scorching HOT. Both of their immoral hearts beat to the same wicked tune. They were absolutely perfect together.

“We were one in the same yet so different—Savage and Venom. One day he would be a king. I would be a queen. And now I was his, and for better or for worse, he was mine. When this was over, we would be legends.”

There’s twists, turns, deception and treachery to be discovered in this dark dystopian romance, and although it’s probably one of the lighter books in the series as far as gore goes, it’s still pretty dark with some hella disturbing scenes. Adelaide did not disappoint with her savagery in this book, she was a twisted angel with something sinister lurking beneath the surface… and Zane owned me. He was oddly sweet when it came to Addy, but he was as ruthless and deadly as they come. Even though I wanted Natalie to go a bit darker with this book, it was still an awesome read and I can’t wait until Hellions is released in a few days to get Nyx and Malaki’s story. I have a feeling it’s going to get pitch black and I couldn’t be any more excited!

Welcome back to the dark and depraved world of Natalie Bennett's Badlands. We get to see the next generation of a dynasty and the birth of a new power couple. It's a heckuva ride and I loved it. And yeah, dark.

Adelaide, daughter of Romero and Calista, the King and Queen of the Savages, has left the compound to go out to find her younger sister and her two young cousins. She has her brother, best friend, and twin cousins with her. Then, she runs into Zane, the Venomous Prince. What she doesn't know is that Zane has plans for her, and she's pretty much just walked into them.

I got so dragged into the story. I really like Adelaide and I'm looking forward to finding out more about her. I think she and Zane together are going to be good successors to her parents and the Badlands ain't seen nothing yet.

I'm pretty sure that I don't trust Lucifage at all, especially not to have Adelaide's best interests in mind. I do want to know how much Romero knew about anything going on. I'm pretty sure that not a whole lot happens without him knowing.

I can't wait for the next one to come out, and hopefully it will be soon!

Back to the Badlands for the next generation of twisted characters! Zane and Addy are perfect for each other. Zane is the Venomous Prince he has built a kingdom to rival the Savages. Addy is the Savage Princess and a badass. She has led a sheltered life spoiled by her parents. The kids of the OG Savages are crazy and will definitely make names for themselves.
Zane and Addy cross paths and Sparks fly. They were made for each other. Zane has always planned on taking the Savage Princess and making her his. His timetable has moved up after he meets her. He's as smitten as a crazy deranged killer can be lol. I love all of these characters. I can tell Luce is just like his father always plotting and planning. He and Zane have made an agreement to unite their factions. What better way to do that than the two heirs getting together. Get ready for a wild trip back to the Badlands. So excited for all of these new characters and books!

Welcome back to the Badlands!

"She looked like a deviant angel, and behind her eyes lurked something savage."

Only this time it's the next generation of deviants that are the stars. Grown and just as messed up as their parents we first embark on a journey with Adelaide. She along with some of her family, go on a hunt to find the youngest of the Savage kids. Kidnapped by a newer faction of the Badlands, leads this group to places that are dark, scary and filled with blood. Along the way, they meet Zane and deadly bunch.

"He was danger. He was carnal sin. His soul was black and his hands stained red. He was everything I lived and breathed in the flesh."

Zane is taking over what his father left him, only ruling it better and putting them into a position of power. Zane is ruthless and deadly and he has struck some kind of deal we only touched on. He doesn't know what love is, but he knows what death is. He is the venomous prince. His whole band of friends are each captivating in their own way and I can't wait to get more of them.

Zane and Addy make for a deadly combination. They could be each other's downfall or the making of a whole new fraction of power. Depraved and lot messed up, this book continues in a place where anything goes and anything can happen. We are not done with the story we started and I am curious about where we are going from here. What other dangerous corners of the Badlands are we going to find and I am anxious to see what it at the end of it all.

This was a dark and addicting read.

I mean, it's Natalie Bennett. You can't say her name without dark and addicting being somewhere in the same sentence.

I'm not usually a fan of anything dystopian, but I dipped my feet in with Savages (the first book in the Badlands series) and became hooked! Degenerates starts off the New Generation, the offspring of the first generation. It's also everything I wanted. I craved more at the end of the fourth book, only to find out there was going to be a New Generation. Addy and Zane, mmhmm.

Addy and Zane are the perfect, amazing, couple you didn't know you wanted. Except I did, because Natalie Bennett. I feel like at this point, I should just be able to say her name, and y'all should know what I'm talking about and nod in agreement. Addy is my kind of woman. She's ruthless, like her father, but she cares, like her mother. It's the best of both worlds. And omg, Zane. Swoony Zane. He's the alpha, the bad boy I craved, and the one who won't let anything fall apart.

Everything about Degenerates is dark, disturbing, and thrilling. I devoured it in a day. Now, I must have Hellions. Bring it on, Bennett. Do your worst!

I have read almost every single book my Natalie Bennett nothing she writes is disappointing. But her badland series is out of this world. Its dark, its creative, its different. Its unique just like the author. Each book gets darker and more sinister and im always in awe of what she writes. And this book is nothing less than amazing. And im not saying that because im her biggest fan and cheerleader. Its because its the truth. So please buy this, read it and review it. And i guarantee that its worth it.

Each book just gets better and better. I thought I wouldnt love the kids as much as the adults. I was sorely mistaken. I loved Zane and Addy SO much. They reminded me alot of Romero and Cali. Zane did NOT take no for an answer. Addy was insane. Zane was possessive. I just loved them so much. The story line was also one to love. Star crossed lovers PLUS enemies PLUS a secret alliance?! UGHHHH gets better and better and better!!!!!! Moving right on to Hellions now and I have a feeling the next book about Nyx will be great! 5 stars!!!!!!

This next generation of the Badlands series pulled me into things right away. The unlikely chemistry and the ensuing angst reverberated off of the pages. It kept me engaged as I continued to read and follow their mission to find their compatriots.
Things took some startling turns along the way, and how things were at the end have me scrambling to get my hands on the next book in the series.

This was considerably tamer than the original Badlands series. It was also a slower burn.
Do not think that means things were just super chill over here, bc you should know better.

Degenerates and Hellions by Natalie Bennet are part of the Badlands: Next Generation series which looks at a time in the future where everything is uncertain, cults rule most of the land and it is a live or die mentality. Degenerates looks at Adelaide ‘Princess’ Savage and Zane ‘Venom’ prince, both of them are on two different sides but both as wild and destructive. This book was hard core from the beginning, showing a level of violence and darkness not often found in book. Basically, no one is safe and even when you think someone is going to survive, they aren’t going too in this series. This is a fast-paced book, with an insta-love type story where both characters keep secrets and emotions well in check. There are often times when you think Zane is just being cruel, but the more you come to understand about him and his circumstances, the more you find out that he is a product of his lifestyle, background and circumstances. Adelaide is also the same where she is this really strong type person, but she lives in her head a lot and has been really sheltered by her parents until she is out there trying to save her people whilst having this destructive, dark, bone-melting relationship with Zane.

Hellions runs along a similar them with the characters Maliki and Nyx being the main centre of attention (although there are still other characters from the first book, including Zane and Adelaide who pop up. If you thought Degenerates was dark, then you have to read this one as it is on a totally different level. We see the second book pick up where the first one left off where the gang is trying to get loved ones back whilst there are a ton of secrets surrounding them and they need to try and get out alive whilst not destroying each other or being destroyed by outside forces.

Both books are dark, violent and have really gripping sexy scenes. You do have to read the books in order as they run on from one another and all characters make an appearance and you learn a little more about them as the story goes along. There are also moments of extreme sadness, brutality and horror, but they definitely keep you guessing. If you like your books really dark, almost dystopian and not following any rules. Then these are the books for you.

Wow! What an explosive beginning to the next generation in the Badlands series -
Our little angels are all grown up and ready to take their rightful places - Okay, maybe not quite yet, but they are about to get one step closer
I laughed, I cried, I cringed and I was seriously Pissed!!
Bennett brought to Degenerates all the darkness we have come to expect from her.
I really appreciated the way we are slowly introduced to the next generation - the little slices of their pasts and their present that made up their psyche's - and I am excited to see where some of the bread crumb trails will lead us in future releases - I have my eyes on a couple characters
As for our Prince and his Princess *sigh* Be still my beating heart
"His smirks weren't portraying amusement; I was quickly starting to learn."
"They were merely preludes of violent delights and slow, thorough mind-F*$# with ominous words." - Adelaide
I may actually be leaning toward Zane and Adelaide as my favorite couple in this series - They were such perfect opposites and the chemistry between them was explosive- They popped off the pages their connection was so vibrant- They had an instant connection which worked for them and they had me enjoying the bloody journey right along with them
Degenerates has it all - Betrayal, Loss, Revenge -
There are a couple scenes I actually glanced away from my reader - somehow in my mind thinking I could avoid the pain from the train wreck taking place on the pages - My heart was shattered and left bloody and broken from a couple different scenes.
I am a bit upset with the small cliff hanger - I want retribution and I don't want to wait - I want it now
For those who have never touched a book in this series STOP - you need to start at the beginning to get the full spine chilling experience

Talk about depravity! Degenerates is a fairytale unlike any other before. Calling it a dark twist would be a disservice and huge understatement. This book is not your Mama's romance novel. This book is dirty, rough, and really dark. This is not for the faint hearted.

This book follows some characters you might recognize if you read the books before. The premise of this story is simple. Romeo and Juliet. Star crossed lovers. Two families at war. What happens when a common enemy attacks?

Addy is such a sweet character. Wait did I say sweet? I meant she is crazy af and would rather cut your balls off rather than play nice, but I loved her character. Zane is an interesting character. He is strong and hot as sin. He is also willing to do anything to protect his own.

Oh my lanta. The heat in this book is as dark and dirty as the characters. Add in some unique situation and not so wholesome plans by the characters and you have some amazing chemistry.

I lived the writing style. The pace is steady. The story is told from dual point of views. This author has created a whole world that doesn't follow the rules we know. I loved getting lost in this world with these characters.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed this story. I would recommend to others who like this kind of book. You have to be a special person to enjoy these books. Lets just say I am one if them.
