Pulled back in time to witness the real aftermath of her horrible dream, Fiona must navigate the uncertain waters of the Scottish Highlands while fighting her growing attraction for the man she knows is a killer. Fiona Chase never expected her love of history to thrust her back into it, but when magic and an ancient family heirloom send the archeology student back to medieval Scotland and straight into a mystery involving the murder of a woman who is her mirror image, she’s forced to accept that not all things can be explained by science. Donal MacCLaran has been thrust into the role of Laird of the clan. After watching his love be murdered at the hands of the church’s witch hunters, Donal goes berserk, slaughtering her killers, only to have another woman—the spitting image of his dead love—appear from the mist. Time-travelers are nothing new to Donal, and once he hears her story, he knows she can help his clan…and perhaps mend his heart. With an arrogant English Lord breathing down their necks and witch hunters on the loose, they must stand together to protect the clan while hiding Fiona’s true identity and nature. This is an interesting, romantic and entertaining story. Donal is bold, cheeky and protective. Fiona is brave, determined and smart. Fiona finds herself in the past, getting killed. Only it's not her, it's her doppelganger. Donal is racing to get to Fiona to save her and realizes right away what happened. At first Fiona tried to pretend it was a dream, then when she finally accepted that she really was in the past she proceeds to invent whatever she can to make life better for everyone. Donal is half in love with her immediately, and he subtly entices her to him. The new English lord wants Fi and is willing to blackmail her to get what he wants, but she's not the usual helpless female he's used to, and he ends up very disappointed and angry. Then the drama gets so much worse. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
This book is a time travel Scottish romance. Given the genre, the title, and the cover, I thought this book would be heavy in the romance department. Disappointingly, it wasn't.
The book did have some interesting bits. The heroine is transported from modern-day San Francisco to the 15th century Scotland. Apparently, she isn't the only woman who has been thus transported to this clan. As some women die in Scotland, a counterpart is pulled over from modern times to take her place. At the very beginning, the description of all the women who replaced the Scottish women was a little confusing because sometimes a woman was referred to by her Scottish name and sometimes by her modern name. The heroine has an eidetic memory, so she is able the help modernize the clan somewhat, providing a water filtration system, a rain gathering system, and some solid roofing techniques.
She was very smart and had diverse knowledge (which didn’t seem wholly plausible). The romance was a super, super slow burn. In fact, there are whole stretches where we don't really see the hero and the heroine together, and I didn't get the sense of a naturally building romance as we see in fiction. They had an instant attraction when she first landed in Scotland, and there is mention of racing energy when they touch or butterflies and the like, but the whole romance angle never really came together for me.
I'm a person who enjoys reading Scottish romance, but this one left me disappointed because of the lack of build-up in the romance.

Outstanding time-travel, historical ROMANCE, Emotive, Steamy, Excitement on every MUST-READ page! With a headline as jumbled as the one above, I guess it is obvious, I REALLY liked this new time-travel, historical romance by Rebecca Preston! “HIGHLANDER SMITTEN” is an outstanding time-travel romance. While the book blurb does a fine job of describing the novel’s basic premise, it does not tell prospective readers about how well-written this entertaining historical romance truly is. With a slow burn of a start so readers can focus on the emerging characters, the plotline of “HIGHLANDER SMITTEN” starts to increase tension with a mystery, a moron, and a mess of epic proportions, or so Fiona thought. From that point on readers have to “hit the pages” with “feet” running as the action never stops. While “HIGHLANDER SMITTEN” is not the first book in the series, it is just as detailed and fresh as those which came before it but has an added dash of humor. I laughed, teared up and felt inspired by Fiona and her interminable will to make things better for herself, and then as she could for the entire MacClaran Clan. Donal has replaced Jamie Fraser in my all-time favorite Laird, and this novel is going into the FAVORITES collection on my Kindle. I voluntarily read an early copy of “HIGHLANDER SMITTEN” and this is my honest voluntary review. “HIGHLANDER SMITTEN” is a GREAT book and wonderful romantic entertainment. Quickly, get your copy today and see how Fiona improves the lives of the entire clan with her science! Happy pages! 😉
I so enjoy time travel historical romance stories and this one is one of the best I've read! I love that it's a bit different than the usual time travel stories as well. Fiona Chase goes back in time to the Scottish Highlands where she comes upon a scene straight out of her dreams and into the arms of Laird Donal MacCLaran. What is surprising is that not only is he used to time travelers, he brings her to meet others who end up being women she knew in her own time! She ends up adapting to the way of life but decides to improve a few things...with her scientific mind, she knows exactly what needs to be done and teaches the others how to improve the drinking water, the crops, the sewing, etc. Of course, she may be changing history having all these futuristic implements way before their time!!! She also falls in love with Donal and I loved all their steamy scenes!!! With all of that going on, she also has to try to prove to the church that she's not a witch. As I said, I loved reading this book and highly recommend it.

When I started reading this, I didn’t realize it was the 4th book in the series. I think it works fine as a stand-alone but it was so much fun I’m going back to read the previous books.
I love the possibilities of time travel. Here you have someone with knowledge of the past thrown back in time. Fiona finds herself back in the 15th century of her dreams with Donal MacLaren. Well developed characters and a great story line. The chemistry is amazing between the characters and I liked the action packed adventure they have.
Fiona is an archeology student but discovers that science can’t explain everything. She can help the MacLaren clan and perhaps even Donal. Fast paced with angst, humor and a hot connection, with paranormal influences and characters you want to cheer on. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
This is my 1st read and review for this author and wow what a story, I love historical time travel romances and this one is amazing. Fiona is becoming an archeologist she is working on the MacClaran artifacts which take her back in time to medieval Scotland. Donal MacClaran watched his love being murdered by witch hunters and before she died she swore that she would return and I guess she did come back as Fiona. Donal kills all of her murderers but when Fiona turns up she tells him her story about coming back from the future Donal is not surprised because there are other women there from the future. Can Fiona heal Donal’s heart and what will happen when more witch hunters come back?. This is a fantastic story and I can’t wait to read more from this author and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
I fell in love with Donal in the first 3 books as a youngster who was all boy, fully Scotsman. As an adult he was still Fully Scotsman with a passion to take care of his own and being mindful of self-control. I appreciate the author not overdoing it with the heavy handedness of sex. There is so much more to the story without over doing it. Thank you. I love to see a romance that grows gently and with total care of each other. I also appreciated Rebbecca Preston showing that there were some Brits who were mindful of the horrible treatment met upon the Scots. It is truly sad that the Roman Catholic Church had been misguided for over 800 years in their persecution of so many. Rebecca Preston is also mindful to show that in the blackness of so many Inquisitioners there were also Priests who felt the treatment of others was wrong.
“Bacon and hot Scottish men in kilts. Just what every woman needs.”
Kindle unlimited purchase By Rebecca Preston Fiona is a jack of all trades. She has studied everything from AZ. She finally decided to be an archaeologist. Donal is the Laird. He was voted in about a year ago. He has had some trouble adjusting 10 years have passed since book 3. I have enjoyed this series. Yes, every book has the same plot with different H and h. But it is a PLOT that works well with the flow of the story. Would like a "look into the missing 10 years" would be a great book. To read about some of the things that we missed with the TIME JUMP (lol) Here I am book 4 down and I'm looking forward to reading book 5. NOPE! Doesn't come out until June 23. Well, it's not that long.
This was a very well written historical romance. It has a great storyline and plot. It would have liked the beginning to be a bit less confusing. Because of the dream and reality switching it confused me sometimes. Likeable characters with great chemistry and passion. I like that you can read this as a standalone in spite of this is the fourth of a series. A mix of a lot of things that captivates the reader from last to finish. The drama, action, danger, mystery, family issues, love, romance and friendships makes it worth the read. An enjoyable, entertaining and engaging story that I can recommend to others.
This is the first book I have read by this author and thus the first in the series for me. There were lots of characters with past stories for me to get my head around which probably meant I had a less enriched reading experience by starting the series with book 4, however I really did enjoy Donal and Fiona's story and was eagerly turning the pages to find out what happened.
This booked is packed full of so much but at it's heart is family, friendships, brotherhood, sisterhood, faith and love.

Fiona Chasehas fallen back through time and there she meets Donal MacClaren but the unusual thing is that he isn't surprised by her been from the future at all when he introduces her to women who where friends in her time she knows why Soon she settles in with the help of her friends but will she change history as she introduces things from the future Will her studies of the MacClaren clan in the future actually change the clans future you will have to read to see but be prepared for some scorching hot scenes between Donel and Fiona
Imagine her surprise when two factors come together and throw her back in time. Now on top of that there is a murder of a woman who looks just like her. She is probably wondering who put what in her cereal that morning. She can help both him and his people and much more. And when they fall in love can she stay there or have to return home. If she even wants to stay that is. I received a review copy from booksprout and voluntarily review it.

Fi cursed those that killed her and wished for her life to continue. Fiona a lady from the future is dragged to this time a place to take the place of Fi. Unlike many time-travel fantasies, Fiona has a bit of help because there are a few ladies at the MacClaran castle who have come from the future. Fiona has to come to terms with the knowledge that she cannot go back to her time. Will she survive? Can she find happiness? Loved the story! I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
I have read the whole series to date and am very disappointed that there is no mention of Colin and Donal brother (Alistair) who was in the first book. His character was never mentioned again, yet their cousin (Ian) became a player. I also feel like his role was reduced as was Mary’s. I hated that Ian lost a leg and it was never explained if he had a wooden leg or what. You would have thought Fiona with all her inventions would have designed him a prosthetic leg.
If you love time travel, paranormal, and the Scottish folklore this is the book for you. This book takes you back to the 15th century Scottish castles and to learn about the McClarren clan. Follow Fiona as she learns to navigate this time period. Will she ever get back to present day? Will she fall for the lord of the group Donel? A wonderful read.

Fiona Loved her job working on the Scottish artifacts that the professor sent from Scotland to the museum as she felt a connection to her ancestors who were from Scotland. One piece, a ring gave her a vision and cause her to be transported to the past. Loved that we revisit the people in the other books in this series to see how they are doing in the past. Just a great read with a romance that a conniving lord who is not a nice person and the witch hunters make an appearance too, Brilliant.
Fiona and Donal's story is really good. A villain, stubborn modern woman and an open minded hero, what could be better? I love that she has such an awesome mind and she makes me identify because I would be trying to figure out how to make things closer to what I knew. Don't miss this one. I hope there are more to come. I'm ready for another with this family. I lo e them.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just couldn't get enough of it and once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I recommend that you read it.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as the previous 3. I'm not sure why it but it maybe that it wasn't as in depth as the previous books. I enjoyed it because it is part of a series. Hopefully, there is another book that will help bring more enjoyment back to me.
ok that was my least favorite of the series. didn't like Fiona, found her choices and "improvements" unreal and her decisions as she navigated her new unknown world made her TSTL. Donal was the only thing that saved the story for me. And getting to see more of previous couples. Maybe the next one will be better.
She loves history and she ends up falling through a time portal where she finds herself facing a murderer. One big problem she is also falling for him. She needs to solve a mystery. Can she solve the mystery? Can she get back to her own time? See what happens

Fiona is brought back in time to replace her namesake ancestor who is murdered. I love the way she improves the running of the castle with her knowledge of Roman history. Enjoyed the way the author shows that Fiona is not a weak female by using her martial arts training to protect herself. A delightfully will written Time Travel Romance.
Really love the author's style of writing. She makes the reader feel as though they are right there in the story and portrays the characters in a way that makes it really easy to visualize them. Thoroughly enjoyed all of this series that I've read so far. Looking forward to the next book.
You have got to read this series! Each book is a stand alone, but if you read the series, they interconnect. Fiona has traveled back to the 1500's. And what she misses the most is indoor plumbing! She is a scientist, and if the time period hasn't got it...well they have Fiona
I really enjoyed this time travel romance. It was easy to like Fiona and Donal. They shared great chemistry and their story offered a entertaining blend of romance, drama, danger and passion that held my attention and kept me rooting for the couple. This is my independent, impartial review.
Arc review For honest review Fiona is studying archaeology and working at the San Francisco museum on the mc Claran artifacts and with a eidetic memory with helps her with her studies . When she having dreams of a past with lard donal macClaran she is the tossed back into time. Awesome story
I loved this book. Fiona is a great character, I loved all the improvements she strove to adapt from modern day life to 15th century Scotland. As for Donnal, he is plain scorching hot. Well written, with great attention to historical detail I loved this one.
Loved this emotionally thrilling, action packed and sexy fun romantic adventure though time ...... was a great read filled with danger, excitement, mystery and so much undeniable passion... could not put it down was hooked from beginning to end and loved every heart pounding moment.
If you love Scottish medieval, time travel and love, you like this story immensely. It's a time travel to Medieval Scotland with a slow burn romance. Great characters, nice plot that flows.
