Writing Nation and 'Writing' Region in America

Under American New Historicism and British Cultural Studies, increasing attention has been paid to the idea of the nation as a discursive construct. 'Writing' Nation and 'Writing' Region in America looks at the various regionalisms in American culture as comparable constructs, and more specifically at 'writing region' as a subsidiary or counter-discourse to 'writing nation'. The various articles in the volume pursue this topic from a variety of (inter)disciplinary historical, sociological, anthropological, geographical, cinematic, and literary.
